How dangerous is it to drive with low tread depth to Lake Tahoe?

Using standard tire depth gauges those would be in the "unsafe zone".

Mobile Ranger here, ask me (almost) anything!

Strange. It shouldn't be that difficult to close. Definitely contact service or request mobile to see what we can do. Just like any latch or striker there are adjustments.

Maybe in the future we can have a drop down menu for all items you can select that Mobile can take care of? Photos definitely help!

You are correct. There are hardware and fasteners holding it in (you can see some of them near the manual release cable for your charge port door). If you have leds in there then you have connectors as well. Maybe look at the parts breakdown online to see what I'm talking about?

The 12v can be jump stated, but not trickle charged. Your larger battery helps maintain your 12v, so keeping it plugged in for charging overnight should be good!

I truly don't know. I don't think such a list exists. Can we escalate repairs of issues when our normal troubleshooting steps in our manuals don't work? Yes. That's why I like this community. If a software update comes out and most of you download it in the evening, discuss the issues you all...

Some have already asked me to do that but sadly I had to decline. That's work related/customer sensitive material. I will still read new posts and provide input when I can.

Also, I said I'd so this for a day (read first post). Thanks for the hospitality and many thanks/likes I recieved. I thought I was going to become a target and was going to be asked some sensitive questions. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Mobile Ranger here, ask me (almost) anything!

Social media is encouraged. If you read any of my posts I'm not releasing any sensitive information. I don't think Tesla will mind a post about me getting scared and laughing about a mouse jump scaring me lol. I've seen some posts where people are just copy and pasting their company emails...

My Auto-park malfunctioned and Tesla denied it

That's just it. Whenever you use a driving aid and cause damage you are liable. Same thing happened to BMW when they first incorporated self parking.

My Auto-park malfunctioned and Tesla denied it

Let's just say you obtain "proof". You show your insurance. They call tesla. Tesla says autopilot is in beta testing, is a driver aid, and the user assumes all responsibility for damage and here is the window the customer pressed accepting those terms. Now your insurance comes back at you for...

My Auto-park malfunctioned and Tesla denied it

Don't know who you would need to talk to, but since it is a driving aid Tesla still can't cover it. It will be cheaper to pay out of pocket than the insurance premium going up and now a Dmv report

My Auto-park malfunctioned and Tesla denied it

We can pull logs if there is an open work order while it's in for service. If they found no alerts present during that time then it really is a weird glitch. They aren't calling you a liar. Issues happen and sometimes an alert isn't present. If we don't see an alert, we might not know which...

My Auto-park malfunctioned and Tesla denied it

Logs can be pulled from more than a few months ago. I've pulled logs 2+ months old (for training actually). We can't change them. There's no way to edit them. Imagine an oscilloscope handheld scanner for a traditional ICE vehicle. It's pretty much the same thing, but we can see the past and...

Model 3 doesn't answer phone calls

Connect vehicle to wifi to make sure vehicle receives current updates. After software update then do scroll wheel reset. Even power off the vehicle through the touch screen. Unpair and delete phone from vehicle. Try to pair again and make a phone call to test. Still bad? Have a mobile tech...

I was under the impression that technical support reassigns the request to mobile if in a mobile region and it can be done via mobile. I'll ask when I'm back to make sure, but I think that's how it's always been done? I think it won't ever go to the Tesla app since not all repairs can be done...

Mystery of Self Rolling Down Passenger Windows Solved (?)

Do the windows still auto up and down as designed? If not, they need to be recalibrated with a laptop. If seen some windows do a long drop when you open it. That's the sign of a bad window regulator. Mobile can repair this.

To be quite honest, model s/x touchscreens. The job isn't hard. Most of us can do it in an hour flat (or less). What's rough is sometimes when we pull your decor trim (carbon fiber/wood/etc) it can sometimes break or crack. I love cars. I love Tesla's. I hate having to leave your vehicle worse...

A software update can only be pushed by a technician. When we replace the headlight we update the software so the vehicle recognizes the replacement. On rare occasions the vehicle might need an additional update, or the module the light connects to has to be manually reset through our diagnostic...

There are a lot of moving parts in those areas. Same thing I mentioned earlier with someone else with a noise. Record it, and have a drive tech confirm the issue. Mobile is not equipped to take your suspension and drive line apart to perform inspections like that. Could be a ball joint, could be...

Anytime! I love what I do. I love the product. I love what the company as a whole is doing. I used to hesitate when people asked me how much I liked working at my other wrenching gigs: "ehh, it's cool" . Now it's different. "Yes, I'm happy and fortunate to be a Tesla employee". It's not...

I like the Ranger name lol. Yes, we are now Mobile Service Technicians. A ranger did time at the SC, then would occasionally do a ranger visit if needed. Then we turned into full time mobile technicians so hence the name change. I don't mind being called either of the 2. And I like the motto. I...

You're talking about the upper b-pillar trim. That moving adjuster slides inside the trim piece. It's all held in with clips. A mobile visit can definitely repair that, or order the correct part(s) needed to do so. I've replaced a few of those.

Depending on your model I suggest making a video or having a mobile tech take a drive with you. Most rattles happen because something is broken or loose. Some panels or trim pieces need to be removed in a specific order to gain access safely to the dash pad or trim. You have a passenger airbag...

All handle repairs we perform incorporate the newer style parts anyway. When your gen 2 handle paddle gear goes bad I don't put a gen 2 gear in it, I put the gen 3 version. It's great, skelotonized, lightweight, and easy to change.

If I can do the job safely and you'll allow it, then I'll do it. I've done a window regulator while it was raining while using my retractable awning on my service van. Car and I stayed dry. The Gen 3 handles are great. Less wiring, less moving parts, and issues. It still has moving parts that can wear. Anything that moves wears out. A dimmer switch can go bad if you use it daily. Things are always changing and improving so it's the best handle on the market. I have had to replace...

    When to replace tires?

Tires are "recommended" at 5mm. On standard tire gauges 4-5mm is the yellow caution zone, and 3mm and below is red/unsafe. You always go off the lowest recorded number, not whatever one you choose. Theoretically, if your inner part of the tire is at 3mm, and the outer is at 7mm, then your tire...

Can Service Rover change battery coolant & brake fluid?

Mobile service is not allowed to drain any fluids outside of the Service Center. If any oil or fluids are spilled then it can run off into the ocean. The EPA denied any fluid changes. The Service Center has the right equipment and floor drain catches to prevent any oil/fluids from going into any...

How Often do you get low tire pressure warning that requires topping off the air?

Your owners manual states to check the pressures daily. I check once a week. So a 2 psi drop in a couple of months with the season change is normal. Open your driver door and look on the body side on the lower right. You'll see a yellow sticker with recommended cold fill range. It should say...

Possible signs of an unhealthy battery in a new car?

You're getting 306 so your 1% off from factory specifications. That is normal. It's within specifications. Same if your door isn't flush with a panel. If it's within specifications (1-2mm depending on panel) then it's normal. Tesla isn't the only manufacturer to do that so I don't get why...
