RSVP to the Tesla Owners Club of Ontario's Earth Day Event

It's open to the public. The idea behind RSVP is so that the Club can get an idea of how many EV owners will be attending, how many non-EV owners will be attending, how many owners are willing to provide test rides, etc. Membership in the Club is not required.

    AP/FSD sale ends March 18th

He already said the EAP and FSD prices were going back up, and they will if for no other reason than to stop people bitching about the fact that they went down, or that someone might have paid less for something than they did. Believe what you want as to whether it does or not, it makes no...

Road Salt Grains (?) on Model 3 Body

Actually, I spoke too soon. The tiny grains of whatever it is are still stuck to the body, mostly on the front. It's been this way all winter. I'm assuming it's road salt since it looks like grains of salt, but it's definitely annoying because they're stuck on well enough that I have to pick...

    Canadian Model Y Reveal Discussion

I suspect that they might have been waiting for Supercharger v3 to be available before doing the trans-Canada stations. There's a huge gap in coverage between Calgary and Northern Ontario that needs filling in, so hopefully that'll be v3 instead of v2.

    AP/FSD sale ends March 18th

The general consensus on Twitter and elsewhere is that these changes affect all of the AP/FSD offerings. Customers who do not own AP/FSD will pay the old post-purchase price, customers with EAP who want FSD will pay the old post-purchase price, etc. The discounts listed in the blog post on the...

3D Maxpider Model 3 Trunk and Frunk Liners in Canada?

Just wanted to pop in and say that I drove to Saginaw a couple of weekends ago to meet up with Joe and get my Maxpider Trunk and Frunk mats, and I'm very happy with them. Joe is a really nice guy and offers good prices on quality products. Not suggesting everyone drive to Saginaw from Toronto...

Model 3 Price Reduction. Feeling robbed!

I bought my Model 3 LR RWD (with EAP) in December '18, so I've had it for just over 3 months. I paid roughly $7,200 more than if I bought the same car today. In fact, I could buy a LR AWD for around the same price as I paid for my LD RWD 3 months ago. But, it is what it is. At the time I bought...

Dashcam gets updated with side camera recording capabilities

Mobile service techs can update the car to the latest version they have (currently 50.6 for the Model 3) from their laptop. I had a guy at my house today to replace my backup camera and he had to re-update the car firmware to get the camera working properly. So, that's an option as well...

    Sentry Mode: Another American-First Feature?

OK, so there seems to be some confusion about how this works, however from what I've figured out from various online sources it works like this: You put a USB stick in the car which is setup so the Dashcam can use it You leave the car and manually enable Sentry Mode. HAL9000 appears on the...

Dashcam gets updated with side camera recording capabilities

My understanding is that hardware requirements are the same as for the Dashcam, as this is part of the Sentry Mode rollout (in the US anyway).

    Sentry Mode: Another American-First Feature?

The video is saved to USB so you can "download" it to your PC. It is not stored in the cloud, USB is required. You insert the USB drive before you enable Sentry Mode, and if the alarm is triggered it will save the previous 10 min of footage to the USB drive. You download it from the USB drive...

    Sentry Mode: Another American-First Feature?

I guess that depends on how willing they are to smash open the front window and start rummaging around in the storage bin looking for the USB drive while your car is belting out Bach at max volume. That's bound to attract some attention... Ultimately though, there's only so much you (or Tesla)...

Are Canadians still getting Model 3s right now?

I've encountered this from time to time, but in all cases it was related to other 3rd party iPhone apps that were "doing things" in the background, even if I had logged out of them. Once I changed my Tesla password and updated TeslaFi (without updating the apps), the sleep issues stopped...

Are Canadians still getting Model 3s right now?

Although you probably already know about it, you can use TeslaFi to track all of this (and more) without having to track it manually. I've been using it since the beginning of January and it satisfies my OCD-like compulsion to know everything about my car and its use. It's well worth the $5...

Are Canadians still getting Model 3s right now?

If you want a discount and don't insist on getting a vehicle with close to zero mileage, ask if they have any test drive models available for sale. You may be able to get a few thousand off the normal price while getting a vehicle with only a couple of thousand Km on the odometer. It's still...

Eaton Center in Toronto is getting a Tesla Showroom

You do realize that a huge number of people who work downtown don't live downtown, right? There are tens of thousands of people who live in the suburbs, who own houses, and who commute downtown either by car or transit to work in the downtown core. Those people will be more likely to buy a Tesla...

Eaton Center in Toronto is getting a Tesla Showroom

Doesn't seem like such a bad idea to me. It's an extremely high-traffic downtown shopping center that's a 5-10 minute walk from the bulk of the office towers in the downtown core. If someone wants to check out a Tesla on their lunch break, it's a much better location than Yorkdale Mall. From a...

Road Salt Grains (?) on Model 3 Body

I've had my Model 3 (Black) for a couple of months now and have been making an effort to keep it clean and as dirt-free as possible in the winter by spraying it clean(ish) once a week. Model 3 Steering Wheel Squeaking

I had the squeaking start a couple of days ago, It's been quite cold here (-20 C or worse) for several days in a row, so it might be related to the temperature. I had mobile service out today to deal with a loose glove box latch, and after I mentioned the squeaking the tech sprayed some...

    Glove box keep opening

Just a quick update on this issue. I had mobile service come by today to fix the problem, and this is accomplished by replacing the entire glove box assembly. Headlights flickering, cause?

Confirmed, I had Mobile Service drop by today and the tech confirmed that it's a known issue and that engineering is working on a fix. How is your drive today

Didn't go out much yesterday, but this morning my street wasn't plowed since the snow started yesterday (and still isn't ), so there's 6+ inches of ground up mess out there at the moment. Stopped by tonight for a top-up. Four spots were ICE’d by 3 vehicles (2 pick-up trucks and a car). Supercharger - Toronto Eaton Centre

You get a notification on your smartphone and have 5 minutes to move your vehicle before charges apply. However, due to the location of the parking garage in relation to the mall itself, getting back to the car in 5 minutes could be tough.

Bitter cold and snow in GTA vs my Model 3 (LR, RWD)

It's probably a bug in the current iOS app version. All the other push notifications in the app work correctly, so someone probably borked up the code and didn't notice. Hopefully it'll get fixed "soon".

That would be nice. Unfortunately, thanks to our elected members at the Provincial (or is it Federal) level, it's not an option due to rules that have been put in place about the selling, or reselling, of electricity.

    Headlights flickering, cause?

I've had this occur randomly since updating to 2018.50.5. It seems to happen mostly when you initially power on the car, or start driving. Somewhat annoying but not the end of the world, hopefully it'll get fixed in the next update.

That was a best-case number based on the highway mileage rating for the 2013 C350 4Matic that I found online. I personally never got anywhere close to that with mine unless I was driving 100% highway at 100Km/h with a tailwind. Most of the time it was north of 10L/100km, something I was...

Petro Canada Deploying EV Chargers at Gas Stations

Yeah, I’ve been by that location a few times while they were setting the chargers up, nice to see them finally functional. Electrek might be jumping the gun a bit regarding a rollout since Petro only had 5 stations in Ontario that had (free) Level 2 chargers, so they’ve got a long way to go...

^ This. I found a tip on Reddit that suggested creating a new driver profile named Snow (or whatever works) and setting Acceleration to Chill and Battery Regen to Low. Canada Supercharging Rates Just Increased...

Some seem to be equating the increased cost of supercharging to the cost to drive an economy car the same distance, which may be a valid argument depending on factors such as winter gas pricing, reduced battery efficiency due to cold weather, etc. If your only charging option is Supercharging...

Snow driving, Model 3 RWD with snow tire handles better than RX350 with snow tires.

Having come from an AWD C350, the RWD Model 3 takes a bit of getting used to, but the back end doesn't move much as long as you drive sensibly and don't take corners like a maniac. You can see the traction control indicator lighting up when the tires start to slip, which so far has only happened...

    Canada Supercharging Rates Just Increased...

Loving my Model 3 so far, prefer it over the Model S my brother has, but that's likely got a lot to do with "my car vs his car". I think the SC price increase is more of an issue for people who don't / can't charge at home, which is really more of an urban problem. For those of us in the 'burbs...
