Version 32 something, and yes FSD.

    Automatic Emergency Braking

I’d say AP is still too glitchy for average urban/suburban 40-70 mph driving. But sure was awesome on the long road trip I just took from Chicago to San Fran and back. And back in the day when I went to the office it was great in stop and go 5mph bumper to bumper.

    Auto steer tracking

Why does auto steer track so close to the middle line? When passing other vehicles, especially big trucks wobbling in he wind it seems to want to hug right next to them. And on two lane roads seems very eager to hug the center line. Love it generally, but those aspects are sort of nerve...

"Acceleration Boost" option, discussion as to which models and how much quicker

Ok, I feel dumb, but how do I know it loaded? Bought it, have receipt, but software version is still same as before 2019.40.2 I think it seems faster, but I am very suggestible.....

when do Tesla snow tires arrive?

In Chicago, ordered about 6 weeks ago so there would be some in stock still. When should I expect them to arrive at the Service Center?

    AP zig zag down road

I've felt a little back and forth when it is really windy

    When do snows show up?

Does the service center call? Or do you just have to watch for an email?

    When do snows show up?

I went the easy way and ordered from Tesla. Seem like decent middle of the road pick, about right for Chicago’s winter. so I paid about a month ago, so they’d be here in time. No word yet... How does the delivery work? And when?

    Coat hooks

love my 3 overall, but those built in coat hooks don’t want to let go of anything hung on them And I really don’t want to buy something that clutters up the cabin. Has anyone bought or made a widget to fit over the existing hook to reduce the grab?

    Hit a bear

Ugh, I feel for you. I had my M3 for a month before a kid with a text to answer clipped me. Less visible damage, but almost every airbag deployed. Be ready to drive something else for a while, my repair took 7 months.

Trunk unlocks perfectly but doors not so much-Is this a clue?

Well I also posted ?s and generally stupid thoughts on this topic for awhile...my 3 has been in body shop since December, so can't discuss directly. But have noticed that the quality of my phone's connection to headphones varies greatly by location and sometimes where I have the phone relative...

Are Service Wait Times Always Awful?

Try needing body work. t-boned Dec 20th. Still in shop. Not all Tesla fault, or even most. But.... I miss it.

    Phone as key thought

Haven't had any problems with my phone as a key ever since I was t-boned Dec 15th. Unfortunately that is only because the car is still in the shop. First recommendation...don't get in an accident with this car. Takes long time to fix. In the meantime, I bought some wireless earbuds to...

    Non-driving dynamics

so...car is in body shop since 12/16. They just got the widget to open it back up last week and complete the appraisal. It is a certified Tesla shop. The appraisal includes some radiator parts. Hmmmm?

    Battery life post crash

Of course I know the financial crisis doesn't effect battery life, but how about a real crash? Took delivery Nov 12, got t-boned Dec 22 (other driver ran stop sign) Car has been in shop since, body shop needed some special widget from Tesla to open up, then got wrong one after long delay...

What is required to total a vehicle

Yep I've heard about the wait, so not shocked. Called the local store to see if they had anything to rent, but didn't sound hopeful. I'd rather it be done right than quick. Other drivers insurance is paying, so I'm sure they'll push in other direction. Hopefully USAA has my back.

One month ownership update - features that don't get enough attention...!

The airbags fortunately don't get much attention. But they work! Wish I didn't discover that...6 weeks into ownership. Oh well can still post.

What is required to total a vehicle

This morning I was in an accident. Other driver, going about 30, hit my front passenger side. The damage doesn't look that dramatic, but most of the airbags went off. And there is this torn bit of metal... Other driver was cited, has State Farm. Not sure limits. Any one think I have a...

    Air bags work!

1,912 miles and 6 weeks into ownership. Other driver ran a stop sign. Wasn't that bad, but all airbags went off. Exciting, but they do make it harder to get in and out. Fortunately remembered there was something I had to do for towing. Body doesn't look that bad, but pretty sure this...

Model 3 - Preheat battery - Winter Range Concerns

Aaron, with a LR, you’ll have no issues. With an MR maybe, but most of the time not. And 10 mins on a SC should top you up enough.

Model 3 - Preheat battery - Winter Range Concerns

Back to the OP, I did not have reduced juice at superchargers in Wi and MN this week with temps in teens. Did notice variable Kws, but lowest was about 75 in LaCrosse.

    Winter driving thoughts so far

So driving from Chicago to Northfield MN at 78, with heat about 65. Supercharges in Madison (45), LaCrosse (15) and Rochester (30). Destination charge on household current back up to 50% in basement garage Stops in Rochester (50), Mauston (40) and Rockford (15). Probably could have...

One month ownership update - features that don't get enough attention...!

EAP__yeah I know this is feature does get plenty of attention. But I haven’t seen mention of what it does for you on a long road trip. Such relieve on the upper back and neck muscles! To me it is far from ready for self driving, but it is wonderful for being much more refreshed at the end...

    Phone as Key Issues

I have an iPhone 7, up to date iOS. I am using phone to unlock and drive. But pretty much gotten in the habit of pulling out the phone and opening the app to get ready to lock the car, as by the time I've done that and walked 50-100ft away the car still hasn't locked. Maybe once every 20...

    Winter driving thoughts so far

I wasn't fully charged, but I think the system doesn't want to take you to the limit before charging, and is taking you off the charger at 80%. I will charge up in full to start, leave early and report back. On a separate thread there is a discussion about heat and its use of battery. One...

Model 3 - Preheat battery - Winter Range Concerns

Aaron, as a Leaf owner in Chicago, I can assure you range anxiety becomes a real thing. I don't have the kind of drive you do, and the Leaf's battery is not as sophisticated as Tesla's. Still...if at all possible, get the LR. (once pulled into O'Hare with a 1% charge for a weekend trip...

    Winter driving thoughts so far

Will be taking a highway drive next week, about 400 miles. Chicago to Twin Cities. Almost all interstate; I expect road surfaces to be fine. But it will be cold, probably below 25F the whole time, and in the teens on way back. But am wondering if trip planner in car takes current temps...

One month ownership update - features that don't get enough attention...!

I've had a Leaf for 5 years, so can report that range anxiety is a thing, especially in cold weather. So I appreciate the huge increase in the 3. I think (even with the Leaf) that most people don't appreciate the avoided nuisance of having to fill up until you don't have to. I agree that is...

Slight vibration when coming off pedal...

Thanks both, had not noticed that buried on page 84 of the manual. Would be helpful if there was some message flashed on the screen in addition. I was wondering if I had to take it in.

Slight vibration when coming off pedal...

Sorry if this is discussed elsewhere, I couldn't find it. Every now and again, I notice a short vibration, or shimmy in the steering wheel when I was accelerating but then come off the pedal quickly. I think there is some correlation with it being while in a curve (not a hard turn) Not...

Is steering wheel caoable and wired for heat?

Yes, that is one thing I miss from the Leaf. I mean, come on.....
  38. D

    Phone as Key Issues

Well this seems kind of weird. Most of my problem is walk away lock. I cut the feature off and on again on the screen and the next two times the car locked as it is supposed to after about 10 fails. I'm no tech guy, but that seems too easy. Well I'll take it.

potential phone key fix (or at least partial solution) for android

I don't think so as it also happens when I've just unplugged in my garage, and needed to use the app to unlock the port, so phone wouldn't have gone that far to sleep Walk away lock seems to not be working at all now. Walk up unlock most of the time, with a bit of delay. And put into...

    Winter driving thoughts so far

I live in Chicago area. Just got a bit of wet snow. Fun to shovel!. I left for work after snow had stopped. Have the OEM tires, Aero wheels. AWD, non-P Car did fine on the bits of road that still had slush, I took it easy. Auto wipers, as reported elsewhere, did not function...

potential phone key fix (or at least partial solution) for android

Well the app (BLE Scanner for iPhone) hasn't seemed to do much, but have found taking phone out of pants pocket does. I have chicken legs, so its not like there is much biomass blocking it, but seems to work. Perhaps the tolerances for connection vary a lot beacon by beacon?

potential phone key fix (or at least partial solution) for android

Crackers I just put a similar app on my iPhone, will let you know if it helps me any. I am a moderately savvy tech user, not a creator at all. But if this is even a partial solution, then this functionality should just get built into the Tesla app. Maybe that's naive, but it just shouldn't...

    Phone as Key Issues

...not sure if this is a phone as key issue, but since one "solution" to some of the issues is to use the app as a fob; it would be much more palatable to do so (app as fob) if the app itself fully powered up instantly. I realize some of that is in the car itself. Why can't car stay in an...

    Phone as Key Issues

    Phone as Key Issues

Love the way the car drives, at least for the 150 miles that I've had it. Didn't really like the way it locked me out after I put bags in the back seat for 4:30am trip to O'Hare. Neither phone nor card worked. But car left back window down enough for me to reach in and open door. Had to...
