Springfield, Missouri & 417 Area Code- growing number of Teslas

Glad to see you are getting a group going down in the Springfield area Evan. The KC group has just gotten together once a year for Sunday brunch. I have organized that and it is about time to organize that again. Last year we met at Lydia's and everyone seemed to enjoy it. So, we will probably...

Tesla Destination Chargers in Millennium Lakeside Garage

Thanks for the info. I called about the Aqua garage and they said I would be welcome to park there. I think it was $40/day and the Millenium Park was around $30/day. Both better than the $75/day at the Fairmont.

Tesla Destination Chargers in Millennium Lakeside Garage

Has anyone used the destination chargers in the Millennium Lakeside Garage at Millennium Park in Chicago? I am going to be staying at the Fairmont Chicago Millennium Park in a few weeks and there is no charging at the hotel. I was thinking about parking in the Millennium garage. Is it walking...

    Supercharger - Emporia, KS

We drove from the Shawnee area South on 495 to 35 South all the way to Wichita. It was about 190 miles and with a full charge we were able to make it driving just a bit over the speed limit the whole way. Arrived in Wichita with under 20 miles of range remaining if I remember correctly. We...

    Supercharger - Emporia, KS

I agree. If you live on the MO side, a 70 wouldn't make it all the way to Wichita driving highway speeds. I live in Johnson County and while I have made the drive to Wichita in my P85 it would be much more comfortable with a supercharger in Emporia. In the interim, there is a Westar Energy J1772...

Luggage Packing Record - Can You Top This?

Our family of five took a 3 week road trip from Kansas City to San Diego and back by way of Tucson. Carried gear for the mountains, the desert, and the beach. Brought along kids homeschooling supplies, 9 duffel bags, 3 coolers, 3 smaller bags, a wheel chair, a tent, sports equipment...

2nd annual Kansas City area Tesla Enthusiast's Club Brunch June 7, 2015

A fun event We had a better turn out for our second brunch than I expected. For those of you who couldn't make it, here is a run down.... I think there were 9 Teslas in Lidia's parking lot; although, I didn't get a chance to count before we left for the Independence supercharger. I also...

2nd annual Kansas City area Tesla Enthusiast's Club Brunch June 7, 2015

Come on by. Brunch starts at noon; but, I'll be there before that to set up a projector. It looks like we are going to have a smaller group than last year so the more the merrier. You don't have to stay the whole time of course if you need to get going. Safe travels.

2nd annual Kansas City area Tesla Enthusiast's Club Brunch June 7, 2015

It has been one year since we first got together. Join us for our second annual get together at Lidia's for brunch in Downtown Kansas City near Union Station. Here is a link to the invitation. We will swap stories, compare stats, and if we get enough people to reserve a private room, share...

Quality problems; "veteran members" tell us, how significant are they?

I have an early 2013 P85. I have had a few issues. The most extensive was a drive train replacement which they did for the known issue of a low rumbling sound. I also had the door handles, TPMS, and the 12 volt battery replaced. I have driven it across country and to work every day for the...

Kansas City Tesla Owners and Enthusiasts Get Together

Sorry to hear about that. I am guessing you skipped topping off in Columbia? The event was fun. The front/back of the store is confusing since it is a rectangle with entrances on both sides. I think the lady scheduling test rides was stationed by the "front door" to catch people as they...

    Supercharger - Independence, MO

    adding jumps seats...worth it?

I've had my P85 for almost two years with the rear facing seats. My kids are 10, 8, and 4. When we first got the car, the older two were really excited about the rear facing seats. Then, we took a road trip and due to the issues you mentioned, in particular heat even though it was in the 50s...

I-70 Gap Between Normal, IL and Topeka, KS... possible?

I have made the trip from KC to St. Louis and back in my P85 in the winter as well. I stopped at Joe Machens Nissan for a brief charge both ways. There is a J1172 unit next to the dealership building by the service center on the North side that is available during business hours (still probably...

    Kansas City Service Center

I stopped by yesterday and took my boys for a test drive in their P85D. There is a P85D chassis in the gallery which opened this past Monday. There is an HPWC in the service center which won't open for a few weeks still.

Any Hesitations Taking Kids on Long Road Trips?

In addition to the trip we will be starting at the end of the week we also did a trip from KC to Indianapolis with the family prior to superchargers. The older kids started out in the rear facing seats and by the end had moved into the second row seats. It was cool so heat wasn't the issue...

Any Hesitations Taking Kids on Long Road Trips?

I think it is a great idea... at least I hope so. We are taking a road trip from Kansas City to San Diego at the end of the week with three kids (one in a car seat and one in a booster). I'll let you know how it goes.

What kind of surveillance camera did you have installed?
  23. B

Saleen Foursixteen Video with sound from modified drivetrain.

My guess is that it is an unintended consequence of their drivetrain gear modification and they are passing it off as a "feature." It does have a unique sound; but, don't even like the more subtle balloon squeal noise made by my Tesla under hard acceleration. I prefer the sound of silence.

    Kansas City Service Center

That is correct. The three Tesla employees in the KC area are all great guys and they still don't have a service center to work out of. I just had the Battery guard put on my car and a few minor issues addressed and they came out to my house.

Charging in the Branson, MO area

Road trip to Branson went great. Only had a few minor issues. When charging at the J1772 outlet behind the Springfield Environmental Resources Center my car went to sleep and wouldn't wake up. I tried rebooting the screens, stepping on the brake, nothing worked. I called Tesla and...

Charging in the Branson, MO area

We are going to be in Branson next week and would love to take our Model S. Kansas City First Friday w/ Tesla

You mean 7/12 don't you? Hopefully some of the superchargers on I-70 will be up for you by the time you go. I'd love to go to TMC Connect; but, I have taken vacation other weeks and can't get the time off. I don't know if anyone else is going or not. I am free Saturday night and would love...

Kansas City First Friday w/ Tesla

It was a fun event Friday night. There were two Teslas down in front of the building and the party was on the sixth floor. Lot's of people, great vibe, cool live jazz, nice lighting, and my favorite was a chance to try on some Oculus Rift goggles which had been programmed to display an...

Kansas City First Friday w/ Tesla

My wife and I will be there Friday night. Some of the guys from Britewerk came to our last Tesla get together and were filming our cars. So, I think some area owner's cars will be up on the screen. I have a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage that will charge at about 30 miles per hour of...

Kansas City Tesla Owners and Enthusiasts Get Together

We had a great group of about 30 people (11 Teslas) come to our first get together in the Kansas City area. We had an EV pioneer who drove some of his own conversions before purchasing a Model S, A couple of long distance travelers who did a 1700 mile road trip without superchargers, an...

Collective noun for a group of Teslas

Collective noun for a group of Teslas

I had to limit the poll to just 10 options. But, you can select all 10 choices in the poll if you like. - - - Updated - - - I missed this thread from last year on the name for a group of Teslas. It seems the Roadster owner's consensus was a coil of Teslas. I like it.

Collective name for a group of Teslas Over on the Tesla Forum, NOGAS4G asked what the name for a group of Teslas should be. Since we are getting together in the Kansas City area this weekend, I too am wondering what to call the group of Teslas that will be present. I like Coil as it...

Watching for I-70 Superchargers from Denver to St. Louis

Yes. I have stopped at Joe Machens Nissan to charge up in Columbia traveling between KC and St. Louis. But, now that you mention it, I would prefer 2 superchargers as that would allow travelers who would likely be leaving either city with a full charge to skip the closer charger, charge up at...

Purchasing a tesla after getting a mortgage

I am in a similar situation to you. I refinanced my house to take advantage of the lower interest rates and the only problem was that I had to delay delivery of my car until the house refinancing was done. Otherwise, no problems with either loan. I got a great rate from a local credit union...

Folks who stretched: Will you do it again given another chance or regret buying Tesla

As I posted on the Tesla Forum, before my Model S I owned a 1994 Toyota truck. It was time for a replacement and I was looking at 30K dollar sedans. When I realized the price point of the 40 at around 50K was similar given lifetime gas savings, I reserved a Model S. After reserving, range...

S85 Owners: Do you wish you had bought S60 instead

I agree. I have a daily 30 mile round trip commute so I reserved planning to get a 40. Then, option creep set in and I am now the vey happy owner of a P85. Not long after taking delivery we took a road trip from Kansas City to Indianapolis. This wouldn't have been possible with a 60. I've also...

    Drive Differently in Model S?

Yeah, it is easy to let the speed get away from you. Nice to have someone else to remind you every so often. Not long after getting my Model S I got a call from my oldest son who was following my progress home from work on the iPad app. He called wondering why I was going 80+.

    Drive Differently in Model S?

I agree with Doug G. More spirited driving around town. The acceleration off the line is addictive. I am always amazed at how effortlessly the other cars fade into the distance in my rear view mirror. Take it easy on road trips. On road trips I take it very easy when accelerating and when...

Traction Question for P85 Owners with 19" Wheels

I agree with MNX. I have a P85 with 19's. No regrets either. Especially since I already had to replace one tire and repair another thanks to a son who enjoys playing with screws in the driveway. Traction control kicks in under 30 mph; but, the acceleration is still breathtaking. I would like...
