Annual license plate renewal fees - how much in your state?

$660 in the Seattle area, including $225 in fees specific to electric cars. And our governor claims to be 'green'...

    Creaking sound in Model 3

I second this solution. My P3D- started creaking (during accel and decel) at about the 4000 mile mark and was driving me crazy. I had my son sit in the back seat to try to pinpoint the source, and he said it sounded like the rear door panels. I was just about to call for a service appointment...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Tesla's on a roll today - got my check too, only 6 days after sending them my mailing address.

    Testing 0-60 times

That's the one. It has a magnetic base, so will work great on your metal rear package shelf. I centered mine under the rear window, as far back is it would go.

    Testing 0-60 times

Two recommendations: 1) Get a dragy, as @Zoomit recommended. I own one and it works great with my Iphone 7. 2) Get the Stats app (‎Stats: For Tesla Model S/X/3). I haven't tried this one, just recently learned about it and it has great reviews. Apparently it can measure 0-60 using data...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

It's not uncommon for FUSC to not show up in your account - an ongoing glitch apparently. My account still says 'Pay per Use', and neither my account nor my car's charging screen show any record of me ever supercharging (even though I've done it several times).

What did you name your Tesla?

Indefensible Jr. A reference to the name of Warren Buffet's first business jet, and a reflection of my guilt over buying such an expensive car. Expensive, but awesome.
  8. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Ha, that's the benchmark I use as well.

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

$1200 would be a lot less painful...plus I have to think there will be many people in the used car market that will prefer to buy the Stealth version anyway. Trade-in numbers aside, I still feel like I've been screwed.

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Assuming both cars will have similar depreciation curves and the same purchase price, the PUP equipped cars will be the clear winners on trade-in value. But I agree that the difference could end up being relatively small. Less than $5K for sure, but I would think quite a bit more than $1K.
  11. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Exactly. I predict the trade-in value will be nearly $5K less than for cars with the PUP. So how can anyone think that P3 Stealthers aren't affected by the price change?
  12. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

That's what I figured. Just trying to scrape together evidence that Tesla intends to do something (anything) for us poor P3 Stealthers.
  13. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Have to ask - do you have the performance upgrade package on your car?
  14. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Great analogy - exactly the way I (and I'm sure most other Stealth P3 owners) see it.
  15. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Or in my case, my account still says "pay per use" but I am magically not charged. In fact, neither my car nor my account shows any record that I've ever been to a supercharger.

Comparing the 3’s interior and exterior to my former BMW M3:

Then you've gotten yourself an $11K bonus! Sweet. I have the 'paid' version of the P3D-, with the same red bar. Don't take that car back to the service center unless you absolutely have to...

Comparing the 3’s interior and exterior to my former BMW M3:

Interesting...do you have the red bar under "dual motor" in your car info and app? Tesla is so disorganized I wouldn't be surprised.

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

I just checked and it looks like it is still $64,000. Maybe you had the EAP option selected?
  19. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Mine was Sept 30, so we probably have about the same chance at a refund.
  20. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

I was quoting Tesla's reponse to Perry: "I'd be happy to help with that; the $5000.00 refund does revoke your lifetime of free supercharging on your vehicle that's not included in the reduced price performance Model 3's would you still like me to submit your request?" He sent an email to...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Well that's good news. I'm in the same boat and will happily trade my FUSC for $5K. Although I notice they said "submit your request" in their response, which implies that some form of approval is still needed. When did you take delivery of your car?

Auto Windshield Wipers Not So Automatic

Totally agree. We just hit the rainy(er) season in Seattle and I really want the option to adjust the sensitivity up. A lot.

Same problem here - hope someone has a fix.

2018 Model 3 - LR, PUP, EAP, PPF, tint, 2k miles

Can't you deduct the value of this car from the sales tax on your new car if you trade it in? Or is Tesla's offer so low that it isn't worth it?
  25. A

Taking delivery tomorrow - what should I look for?

Make sure you look under the car to check for damage. I had planned to do that during delivery but didn't bother because the rest of the car looked great. Finally looked under about a week later and saw that both rocker panels (black plastic) had scrapes running down them, and the front fascia...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

My bad - and I happen to agree. I'm also hoping our cars will actually end up being more valuable than the more "common" P3D's since Tesla no longer sells them, and - let's face it - there are a lot of people who just want the acceleration without the impracticality of the larger wheels...

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

This. As a P3D- owner of 4 weeks, I couldn't have said it better.
  28. A

    Performance Upgrade Price Change!

Agreed. I ordered a P3D- for the same reason - just didn't see $5K worth of value in the upgrade package. Plus I drive my car daily so didn't want the increased road noise or greater susceptibility to curb rash. I'll happily trade my FUSC for $5K.

How soon is pickup date after you received VIN?

Received notice 3 days prior to delivery and my VIN the day before. Communication was via an illogical combination of emails and texts from several different people, but the delivery went smoothly enough, despite it being on the very last day of Q3. The car (silver P3-) is awesome.

Biggest Positive and Negative Surprises About Model 3 AWD Performance Version

Same for me. Ordered a P3D- on 8/6, took delivery on 9/30. During that time I asked about the free supercharging and was assured it would be included. Found out on delivery day that my account still showed pay per use. I emailed [email protected] and received a response the next day...

    Model 3 Performance VIN Discrepancy

Hi Brian, I believe I was your non-PUO orientation. Once the tech finished with the firmware update I double-checked that my 'About' screen showed the red underline. At that point I decided I would confirm what I actually had with a road test and come back if I wasn't convinced. We then went...

    Model 3 Performance VIN Discrepancy

What I'm really interested in is whether anyone has a 4 code. Would show that Tesla designates some cars as a performance model at the VIN level instead of just giving all AWD cars the B code.

    Model 3 Performance VIN Discrepancy

I would interested to see if anyone has a Model 3 Performance with a "4" as the 8th digit of their VIN. The decoder I've seen online (posted on Electrek) appeared to be within an actual letter from Tesla to the NHTSA for the Model 3, and specifically said that "B" was for "Dual Motor -...
