Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Did you have AP available even though EAP/Beta was unavailable? I’ve been in torrential rain storms where AP kept working long after Beta became unavailable.
I can imagine getting that large conduit bent and fit is no small feat. It could be the reason this is taking so long. There were several pieces laying around. The good news this location is pretty easy on/off I-25.
I have driven up and down Pikes Peak and many back roads on FSD with much success. It isn’t always perfect but light years ahead of EAP of old. Very few disengagements and a lot of confidence around sharp and hairpin curves. The car slows appropriately going into the curves and maintained good...
Stopped at the Clayton SC today (250KW!)and here are the pictures. Not all are showing this kind of damage but maybe a third to one half of the stalls. Anyone know how to let Tesla know what’s happening?
Sorry about the weird camera angles
We came through the Clayton supercharger this last Monday and was surprised to see the condition of the parking stalls. Apparently there is no base to the asphalt because it is already sinking where wheels sit while charging. If it’s this bad already, I can imagine the condition it will be after...
I think the trick is to pull as close to the pedestal as possible. That way the passengers have enough room to get out. We ran into the same problem when we were there and that is what I concluded to do in the future. They are pretty tight stalls but very welcome even with this flaw.
You all must have just left before we got there. Arrived with 26% SOC, plugged in and immediately got the full 250 KW charge rate. It slowed down to 58 KW by the time we hit 80% but no complaints on this end.
One word of caution. When backing into a stall, be aware there are no curb stops. I...
I agree, taking the word of a random person we meet should be taken with a grain of salt, but this guy seemed like a super fan of Tesla, as well as an actual employee maintaining the superchargers in the region. He was anxious to share his knowledge of all things Tesla and offered up the Lubbock...
Ok, we stopped at the aforementioned superchargers. I can report the Childress supercharger is all up and running at the reported 150KW rate. No V3 chargers there and not likely anytime soon. (See below for why I think so) Amarillo does not have any V3 chargers installed. Clayton is still only...
I’ll be at Childress, Amarillo, Trinidad and Clayton tomorrow. Junction was very slow at every stall. People were getting between 7 and 50 KW no matter what stall and not paired with anyone. Made for some decent Netflix time though. Sweetwater was putting out almost 150 this evening.
A good case in point is the Waco supercharger which has had several V3 stalls added to the existing V2 chargers. On our way north through there I pulled into our usual stall only to realize several V3’s had been added down the row. You can guess which ones I chose on our southbound trip. I saw...
Thanks for the update. This supercharger can’t open soon enough for me. We are heading to Colorado Springs in less than a month and it will shave a few hours off the trip.
I’ve been in this forum for awhile now but haven’t participated much. Now the Tesla forums are essentially shut down, this will probably be my go to for new info in the Tesla world. Looking forward to receiving City Streets Beta.
The last time we did that leg, we left Trinidad with a 95% SOC and rolled into Amarillo with 6%. I never really considered that much of a head wind on a downhill run. The Teslas I saw driving west all seemed happy!
I’d sure like this supercharger to be up and running by mid April for my trip to Colorado Springs. Even the Trinidad > Amarillo leg can be a little dicey if the weather doesn’t cooperate. I check this thread almost every day looking for updates.
When we stopped by to take the pictures the HEB parking lot was packed and the car wash was being used. My fear is the chargers will be ICEd frequently. Also, access may be an issue as there is not a lot of room between the chargers and the car wash building. Even so, it will be nice to have...
All the equipment looked to be in place. The electricians I saw working there seemed to be doing the final hookups. At least to my hopeful untrained eye that was the case. I didn’t bother taking a picture of the cabinets in the fenced area as I didn’t want to enter the work area.
We took a little road trip today to see the progress on the superchargers. They appear almost ready to come online and according to the electrician I spoke with it could be as early as next week. Also, the new service center is looking pretty close too.
Seems like a few urban superchargers would be enough to ease the hop from Amarillo to Trinidad. I have only done the reverse trip a couple of times and even that way was a bit of a nail biter after encountering an unexpected headwind on the latest drive.
I can report the same two pedestals are still out as of yesterday. Tesla routing kept trying to route through Pecos from Ozona to Van Horn because Tesla is showing temporally closed in the car.
I have been experiencing this same thing. We have been traveling extensively for the last few weeks going from SC to SC. Since 10/24/2018, the history has not shown charges and the last time I looked, my credit card has not been billed either. I will call when I have time to follow up with...
I stopped at the San Antonio service center to discus a few issues with my car and the person I spoke to said he thought the “trouble shooter” is supposed to be headed out there today. Take that for what it’s worth but it looked like everything is in place to get the supercharger switched on...
Stopped by today and still no power. Anyone know when the projected opening is?
Also three stalls happened to be ICEed by a truck with mechanical problems. The driver came up to me and apologized, so he was not clueless.
