    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

Yeah, I realize that now. I had assumed the car would display the total energy it was receiving, nit the net energy that gets to the pack. Now I know differently.

No, it didn't get warm at all. Yeah, will definitely test it out from a lower SOC soon.

    Setec CCS to Tesla Adapter

I got mine yesterday and tried it out on an Electrify America station and a 24 kW IES DC fast charger on the ChargePoint network. Both times it worked perfectly. I have a review video up on InsideEVs for those interested: https://insideevs.com/news/463721/tesla-ccs-fast-charge-adapter-setec/...

    Emotorwerks JuiceBox 40 - $280

That's a great price for the JuiceBox Pro 40. Those are the probably the best EVSEs available today, all things considered. (price, functionality, power)

BYTON Founders Exude Confidence At CES

They have partnered with Bosch for the powertrain. I asked them about that and they told me they thought it would best for them to focus on developing proprietary tech like the UI / UX, and leave the powertrain to an established, proven manufacturer like Bosch who works with a variety of other...

BYTON Founders Exude Confidence At CES

Hi, I'm the author of the article and have been a longtime member here, and I do appreciate the question. The way trade shows and automobile first-drive events work is manufacturers usually cover the costs of travel for journalists, but never ever pay them anything for being there or writing...

eMotorwerks JuiceBox Smart Charging and Model 3 Incompatibility Update

Looks like Tesla and eMotorWerks are working on a resolution. In the meantime, you can still use a JuiceBox without issues, because they have implemented a temporary workaround until Tesla updates their software: I got this from eMotorWerks. Attention: Tesla Model 3 Drivers Unfortunately...

    JuiceBox

Tesla and eMotorWerks are aware of the delayed charging issue with the Model 3. It should be sorted out shortly. If you're considering an additional EVSE, the JuiceBox Pro 40 is a great option, IMO. They also have an 80 amp one; the JuiceBox Pro 80. The app is great, it keeps records of past...

    Supercharger - Kingston, NY

I did a post for Green Car Reports about this site. I had the chance to speak to one of the top executives at Quick Chek and if things go well with this site, they are open to adding Superchargers to more Quick Chek locations. Here's a link to the Green Car Reports piece: Quick Chek...

    See how lexus teases I3

Yes, it was a range extended i3 and they photosopped out the gas filler flap for most of the scenes. However not all of them. I called them out on this with a blog post. If they had properly used the i3 they had, they would have made the trip without issue. It would have taken a little longer...

That actually isn't black, it's a dark grey called Laurel Grey and it's the color of my i3 before I wrapped it. I wrapped it to have some fun and make it a color that nobody else had while seeing what the car would look like with the hood the same color as the body and the rear window dip...

Sorry for the late reply, been crazy busy lately. I flat out wouldn't have bought a 1-Series EV. I was pretty much done with the ActiveE when the program ended. The interior was way too small, the back seats were just about unusable and what is normally a small trunk was cut in half by the power...

So far so good. I have a host of small issues, but I'm a perfectionist and feel that way about every car I've had. Here's a quick run down: Likes: Hill Hold: It's different than any hill hold I've ever had. The car won't roll backwards at all, even if you don't touch the brake. You can roll up...

    BMW i3

I know the i3 has been roundly criticized here by many for its unconventional design and I'm sure I'll get more than a few "It still looks like crap", but I had mine wrapped red and made a few customizations. Look any better? Worse?

    BMW i3 versus Model S

Not i3 vs Model S, but how about i3 vs ActiveE? Michael Thwaite and I did a range comparison of the two cars over the weekend. The i3 came up with 96 miles and the ActiveE 102. Full details here: The Electric BMW i3: Real World Range Test: BMW i3 vs BMW ActiveE

    BMW i3

Yeah, I do think it's a little early to look at the breakdown. Production has been very slow and they actually filled more of the BEV orders first so initial deliveries will be skewed. The DCQC is a stand alone option for $700 and you can get it with any trim level.

Besides Japan, it is launching in Korea and China in the next few months. Production definitely started out slowly but it appears they have picked up the pace recently by the VIN#s we have been tracking in the i3 Facebook group. I think they appear to be up to about 140 - 150 per day now.

BMW's solution to that is the range extender. A BMW i3 REx can certainly be your only vehicle if you want it to be. That might not be everyone here's first choice (to burn gas on the few times a year you need to drive further) but for the vast majority of people that currently burn gas all the...

    BMW i3

There are lots of reasons people like one car over another that are individual specific, but as you say price is usually paramount. As hard as it is to believe, some people will like the appearance of the i3 better than the Model S, even though that seems unfathomable to most people. I can...

Exactly. We are not talking anything like the utility of the Model S frunk. It's really perfect for the portable EVSE (You could carry both a 120V and a 240V one) 100 feet or so of extension cords, a portable took kit (I always have one in my cars as well as a flashlight) adapters and the tire...

    BMW i3

I suppose it will eventually happen, but don't assume it will as quickly as it has with the Model S. There are 50,000 volts and 40,000 LEAF on the roads in the US and they have have been driving and being crashed for three years now without a single fire. I fully expect the i3 to behave similarly.

    BMW i3

Everything is a lot slower than a Model S! However other than Tesla cars the i3 will be the quickest EV available, unless you count the Tesla powered RAV-4 which it pretty much ties. The i3 does 0-60 in 7.0 sec (REx i3 in 7.6) and the Volt does it in 8.7 sec.

No luggage space for sure. I always carry 150' of 10ga extension cords with me so they'll go up there. It's just big enough for the portable EVSE, cables, connectors and a small tool kit. Just the stuff you always carry around with you, definitely not groceries or luggage:

    False BMW claims

The ASA already banned a BMW ad a couple years ago. It was for the BMW ActiveE and it read "100% Joy. 0% Emissions" The ASA ruled that because electric cars mostly use electricity from the grid, they cannot be advertised as zero emission. So I don't think BMW has the ASA in their pocket...

These are pre-production units. I can't imagine why, but perhaps they just didn't use the production inlet. This is from BMW's press release: "When the BMW i3 is plugged into a public DC fast-charging station (50 kW) it only takes about 20 minutes for the battery to reach 80 percent capacity."
