    Utter Frustration (National PEM Shortage)

On the DL... The NEW PEMs are being made by engineering. (Told to me as per Dallas Service.) I apparently, when I had a PEM overheat during summer, was the person to get one of the last reman units in NA. That isn't the only thing to become scarce as of late. Roadster charging equipment is...

What do you do for work? Just passing time waiting for updates from Tesla :)

Along with some of the other things that I do, I am now CEO/President of BlackFire Research. (We/I make tools for Red Team. ./evil_laugh) I do now have something that might be of interest to some. Working on a case for them, BUT the service center loves them.

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

In regards to the CAN speeds, they are different depending on which bus you are on. For Example, CAN1 is at a standard speed while CAN6 is a high speed bus and CAN4 is also different. (No, I will not tell you which bus is on which pins. *insert ethical hacking post here*) Some also have...

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

I may have something along those lines... and the ability to distribute them. Royal pain to get them though.

Let the hacking begin... (Model S parts on the bench)

I'll save you the trouble. It has been patched. That was the way that the guys at DEFCON did it. (they even got a recognition from the developers on that one) Not really too much you can do other than API stuff when you get to that point. The gateway does not allow for arbitrary CAN command...

    Tesla Simulator 17" Screen?

Something I have been working on lately: MCU in a VM... it is testing my patience and VM-foo to it's logical limits.

Security from the frontlines... (OR How to Hack A Model S talk at DEFCON)

See my above comment. PM works well. My workings have other things in mind... but even then, ethics are something that are needed to be adhered to. Follow the BCP for everything you discover. The first duty a penetration tester does when a vulnerability is found is report it. I should hope...

Security from the frontlines... (OR How to Hack A Model S talk at DEFCON)

DEFCON this year is not at the Rio... it is split between Paris and Ballys. Anywho, the talk is in track 2 at 1400 local time on friday.

    Dash Cam installation in DFW

I had my GDR-35D installed at Earmark Car Audio in Plano. They are pretty quick about it.

Do the people attending the talk wanna meet up before hand? Say the TM booth in the vendor area? Again, I will be reachable on 146.520 if y'all feel like chatting during the con.

Security from the frontlines... (OR How to Hack A Model S talk at DEFCON)

There is slated to be an interesting talk at DEFCON this year. Supposedly there are going to be 6 exploits revealed at DEFCON. (with only one of them having been patched) I will be going there for the talk and other fun with friends. If y'all show up, look for me and some of the crew... I...

    Dallas

As of 2 months ago we didn't have the electrician come out and install the 100A line... The 100A line was installed in April. The station was also moved from the side of the ramp to the other side of the dock.

    Dallas

Yes, but they don't have 500mbit symmetric fiber connection. And yes, it is on as per our agreement with Tesla for Destination Charging.

Texas Legislative update: Please help out if you live in Texas

The fact of the matter is, TM needs to put direct sales in a positive light... such as the sales tax revenue that the state would recieve.

    How about a DashCam option?

I had a Garmin GDR-35D put in my model s. I am happy with it. 720p Dual Cameras or 1080p single camera, one video file. For $300 it is cheap insurance.

I'll save you the time and trouble. There are several. But they won't release them w/o a corporate agreement and a MOQ.

Texas Registration for Tesla - Fuel Type = GAS ????

At one of the NCTCOG meetings this was brought up. It was in general consensus that a road use tax would not be a good thing. In fact if a tax just targeted EVs, the state could be sued for discrimination. So, a more favorable way was to apply the same tax over all vehicles.

Texas Law Change: $200 Fine for No Front License Plate

I tend to stick to the letter of the law. Texas Driver's handbook. P.18 Table 17 BTW Texas Code 504.943 states: Basically stick it down with $5 worth of moulding mount tape and go get it dismissed. Note: It doesn't say anywhere in the current Texas Penal Code where the plate shall be...

Texas Law Change: $200 Fine for No Front License Plate

I am also operating under the clause that they cannot ask you to put a front bumper mount on based on the fact that mine was not installed at the factory. (and was never installed) Therefor not needed on the front bumper based on the fact that it would not be OEM mounted. (it is called a loophole)

    Test Drives in Texas

More over: The law says no "direct" sales. The way they get around this is to have another entity host the event. (i.e. during the Get Amped Tour the Hotel Palomar hosted the drives in Dallas)

    Possible EV tax in Texas

I was involved with a discussion on this very topic at NCTCOG. The consensus was that Texas would go to a model of vehicle taxing based on milage and weight. My suggestion was to tax based on weight. Moral of the story: If you don't attend the meetings you don't get your voice heard. Follow...

    Bitcoins, anyone?

I am working on building my own mining rig using FPGAs. (low cost, high core count, can be upgraded on the fly)
