Playing iPhone music in a 2020 MX?

On your phone, then, you need to start playing. You should see your car listed as a bluetooth device on the phone. The car doesn't really control the phone; it's just an output device. It can, however, do simple things like skip tracks, and show you what's currently playing.

    Convertible Model 3

The visibility out the back of an M3 is bad enough as it is, without making the window even smaller.

Can We Inundate this Garbage Article Ripping on AP with facts??

I dunno, just the other day I saw someone "driving" his M3 for miles down I680 just staring at his phone in his lap. If Autopilot encourages this level of complacency, that's a serious issue.

    HOV Sticker Questions

Definitely don't use the HOV lanes with no passengers if you don't have the sticker. It doesn't matter if the car is obviously eligible, they'll still nail you. The CHP only goes by the presence of the stickers.

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

It's not just the last few weeks. These windshields have been on backorder for many months now, at least.
  6. A

Is there a recommended windshield washer fluid?

Not sure why, but I think Tesla recommends not using that kind.

Also, the adjustable seats can be raised up quite a bit in the 3; that may also help you.

    Potential Owner with questions....

I have some minor back problems, and the M3 has never been an issue for me. It doesn't feel super low to me; seems about the same as the BMW 328 I used to have. It seems like the ideal thing to do is take advantage of Tesla's 1-week return policy. Hopefully someone else can chime in and verify...

Wow, that's a seriously tight fit!

    Garage parking backstop

That's what we do as well, but we stop as soon as the tape disappears under the car in the camera. I've also put two pieces on the sides as a target for the wheels to be in between. It really helps; the backup camera on this car is great.

Help me decide if I buy FSD this weekend, or not! ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Why would you just give them your money for a feature that may or may not happen....or may happen but in a way that is far removed from everyone's vision of what it will be. Wait for them to deliver, THEN decide.

No more ‘HOT CAR’ and kids in Model 3

That said, I don't know what makes anyone think that this is any less of a danger in a Tesla. Cabin Overheat Protection is not enough for an infant.
  13. A

No more ‘HOT CAR’ and kids in Model 3

Kids also didn't ride in massive rear-facing car seats where you can't see them unless you're in the back seat. This is a mistake that *anyone* can make.

Windshield replacement recs/experience - SF Bay Area?

I started a thread about my experiences here: Windshield Replacement Experiences Long story short, some of the shops in the Bay Area do windshield replacements, others do not. If you contact one that does not (Fremont), they will not inform you of others that do. Some shops have the windshields...

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

First of all, thanks everyone here for your help. I learned a few things: 1. Some service centers replace glass, but others don't, even in the same metro area. 2. Some service centers will tell you that it'll take a month to get a new windshield, and not give you any other options, while others...

Is there a graph for speed?

If you were going 120km/h, and you got a ticket for 120km/h, what's the point in proving you weren't going 200km/h?

How does Tesla limit range in the SR?

A bottom lock would be crazy. It would be really bad PR for a Tesla to artificially run out of charge in the middle of nowhere when it actually still had 10% left.

    Mishap in parking garage.

Looks like about the same as a BMW X5. The lift should be able to handle it without a problem.

    NEMA 14-50 Location

The Model 3 is a very easy car to back into a garage. I'm not one of those guys who back into every parking space, but decided backing it into my garage put the charging port in a better location, and have never had an issue doing that. The backup camera is excellent, and I just put a few pieces...

How long ago was this? I'm wondering if this apparent windshield scarcity is a rather recent problem.

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

I'm pretty sure you have to have the rest of their coverage in order to get the glass. But you should consider AAA; they've been very good about covering claims. They're probably more expensive than Geico, but I'd gladly pay a little extra to not have to fight with a company for coverage I'm owed.

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

Turns out the message about not doing glass was in regards to the Fremont service center. I also made an appointment at Dublin, and then got a message saying that the windshields are backordered and will take a month to get in. Now I've made an appointment with the Santa Clara center next...

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

Gaaa, this is so frustrating. I made an appointment with the service center in Dublin CA and later got this text message: This is Tesla Virtual Service reaching out regarding your upcoming service visit. Windshield Replacement Experiences

Yep, I have AAA with the full 0 deductible on glass. This is great info, everyone. When I searched earlier, there were all sorts of messages saying that the service centers wouldn't do glass any more, so I didn't get an appointment at that time. Now I'm scrambling to get it in as soon as I can.

    Windshield Replacement Experiences

Last week, a previously repaired rock chip turned into a full-blown crack making its way across my windshield. I called around and the local Safelite won't deal with Tesla any more, and the glass place I finally found has told me to expect a 4-6 week wait for a new windshield. I'm wondering...

    The Opposite Of Short Selling.

OMG, don't start messing with buying on margin. You could end up in deep trouble quickly. And with 170-odd-million shares outstanding, you're not going to make any difference in the short selling market.

Anyone have major jitters backup camera in Model 3 on 12.1.2? (May be resolved in V10)

I have 2019.12.1.2 and have not seen the jitter problem, just to provide a contrary voice here. It does still have the issue sometimes where, when put in reverse, the camera view stays black for several seconds. I'm suspecting that the software has a few memory management issues.

Illinois EV registration proposal to increase fee to $1000/year!

Yeah, $1k seems a little excessive. If a ICE car is driving an average of 12k miles @ a efficiency of 25mpg, that's 480 gallons per year. According to the article, they want to set the gas tax at $0.44/gallon, so the EV registration should be $211 if they want it to be fair.

Thinking about buying my Dad's Tesla

If I were you, I'd by your dad's S, and keep it until there's a real (well tested) FSD solution out there. It's not like Tesla is known for hitting their promised deadlines.
  34. A

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve heard about EVs?

They're not dumb, it's just that people need time to adapt. They're fed misinformation all the time by vested interests, and only seeing and experiencing the state of the art in electric vehicles is going to change their minds.

    Couple questions..

...and not only that, pickup owners are far more entrenched in their brands than crossover (small- or mid-sized SUVs) owners.
  37. A

    Couple questions..

I think it's misleading to look at it compared to specific vehicle models sold, as there are far fewer pickup models than SUVs. According to U.S. car market: by vehicle type 2018 | Statistic, the crossover market (38.5%) is over twice the size of the pickup market (16.5%) in the US.

Discount for allowing self driving delivery

Tesla is so far away from this happening, it's not even funny. Even Waymo is at least a half decade, probably more, from this sort of behavior.
  39. A

How Often do you get low tire pressure warning that requires topping off the air?

Yeah, but that warning is really damn annoying, and for me, it didn't actually disappear until I parked the car and left again later.

Trip from San Jose to Big Sur help!

If you're going to Big Sur from San Jose, you won't get anywhere close to Hearst Castle. I'm not entirely sure, but I wouldn't think you'd need to even stop in Monterey.
  41. A

Locked out of the car. Just about to give up on Tesla.

That's true, if the car cannot be driven at 3%, then it's lying to you and the battery readout should be recalibrated. This is like an ICE car that runs out of fuel before the gas gauge gets to E.
  42. A

Was supposed to pick up my X tomorrow, then I got a TEXT!

That truly sucks. You'll lose out on $3750 of tax benefit, not $7500, as the credit cuts in half at the end of the year. I'd demand a $3750 credit at the very least, on threat of canceling the order.
  43. A

Anyone receive CA carpool stickers in December?

I'm putting off filing for the stickers until January, in the hopes that I get one additional year out of them. I'm not sure it'll work, but there's no harm in trying.

    Loud warning sound?

Yes, that was the collision alert. It apparently didn't pick up that the other car was in a different lane.
