Okay to buy Powerwall 2 from an estate sale?

Yeah your final paragraph sums up my concerns. I'm still going to call a couple installers tomorrow to see if I can get even a ballpark quote over the phone.

Okay to buy Powerwall 2 from an estate sale?

Soooo I actually installed my entire solar setup. I could honestly probably do the install for the PW2, but finding specific documentation or YouTube walkthroughs has been challenging. I’m unsure about warranty transfer. I doubt if I attempted to do the work myself that they’d allow for the...

Okay to buy Powerwall 2 from an estate sale?

Hello TMC Energy folks, I have an opportunity to buy a Powerwall 2 from an estate sale in SoCal. I'm trying to gather as much info as I possibly can before deciding what to do. The cost of the Powerwall will only be ~$1,000, but I'm gonna have to find an installer to do some work...this is my...

    Powerwall 2: SGIP/Incentives

Interesting. Definitely not something I'll likely pursue right now then. It doesn't make sense to feed the PWs off solar generation during the day that is making me $0.53 per kWh, only to use that stored energy at night when I only pay $0.12 per kWh when I charge my Model 3.

    Powerwall 2: SGIP/Incentives

The Tesla route may be more interesting then. The SGIP is kind of the hang up for me. I think it'd actually be better long term to just steal from the grid at night when it costs $0.12/kW and then use it during my peak/off peak times when it is $0.53 (summer) or $0.33 (winter). I'm on a Time of...

    Powerwall 2: SGIP/Incentives

Thanks for the input everyone. I guess more than anything I was checking to see if I could get a reasonable price on the backup system after all the rebates and tax incentives (like 2x PWs for $10k or something). It is definitely cool tech and I'd love to support Tesla more, but you all make a...

    Powerwall 2: SGIP/Incentives

Thank you, this is a very comprehensive post, and exactly what I was looking for. :) For me, outages aren't a big concern. I've lived in my home for nearly a decade, and I think I can remember one time? a planned outage occurred where they upgraded some nearby powerline/etc equipment. I think...

    Powerwall 2: SGIP/Incentives

So I'm incredibly late to this party, but I just got my Model 3 and have a 7.5 kWh system installed on my roof. I'm interested in PowerWall, but they're so damn expensive for very little financial benefit without incentives (15+ year ROI). Are there still beneficial incentives available for...

Southern California (Orange County) Tesla Model 3 Tint/PPF Group Buy

I asked about the water when they did my tint. They are very aware of the concern and potential problem and put a lot of absorbing towels/etc in and around the electronics to protect them. It has been 6 weeks since I got my tint done (including 70% on front windshield) and I've had no issues.

Southern California (Orange County) Tesla Model 3 Tint/PPF Group Buy

I wear polarized glasses and got the 3M Crystalline done at Rodz (70% on the front). It does have an effect, but it isn't bad. Basically dark colored cars (mostly black, some dark blue) appear a slight purple-ish tint instead of black at some angles as you approach them. It was a little weird at...

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I was willing to pay the $4k for the extra performance, the increased handling, and the potential that efficiency would be higher on 3D like it was for Model S D owners, but alas, that third part didn't come to fruition. I also like the increased handling in the rain snow when I go to Big...

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I don't regret saving $11,000 at all. I'm completely happy with the performance of my AWD non-P. :D I think folks that would buy a Performance version of the car are more oriented towards things like Dragy/VBox, etc. Not being "part of that world" it isn't something I have myself. And my kids...

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I’m not sure what you want? The AWD is observably the same car as the RWD minus better handling and acceleration. All the aesthetics, interior and exterior appear exactly the same. I described earlier the handling, strength of regen, and acceleration in comparison to a RWD and even posted a...

Yeah, I love the wheels underneath. It’s a tempting idea but I don’t really want to store the caps somewhere and have to put them on and off regularly. Too lazy I guess.
  15. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I've left them on. With AWD getting worse efficiency I figured I don't want to make it worse by removing the aero caps. :P

Are you sure? It was reported by Teslarati via the EPA website that the EPA Certification Summary report points to an “END-SOC” or state of charge level of 78270 watt-hours or 78.2 kWh of useable battery capacity. Tesla Model 3 battery pack sized at 80.5 kWh according to EPA document

I posted the first 0-60 video for standard AWD. I was at 80% charge on a flat road and lowest time was 4.33 seconds. I pulled the video after endless trolls for the location I chose, it wasn't worth keeping it up and enough people got to see it for confirmation.

The math actually works out to ~279 miles of range (Model 3 LR is listed as 78,200 usable). For how hard I'm driving it, I think that is pretty good. Like I said, I'll have a better idea of efficiency on my road trip later this month.
  20. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I’ve had my AWD for almost 2 weeks and I’ve gotten ~280 Wh/mile since taking delivery. I’m obviously driving it hard though. :) I have a couple hundred mile road trip at the end of the month where I’ll actually get to see a better idea of efficiency though.
  21. Deuce24

No, it was a delivery from April-ish, so pretty recent. Definitely not like a sub-35,0000 production vehicle.

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I haven’t driven a P3D or any Model S, but the 3D is absolutely amazing. The RWD still felt “great” but wasn’t the same.

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I’m extrapolating, haven’t taken it past 90% yet. I have a trip meter I haven’t reset since taking delivery. I’m extrapolating 286 Wh/mi over the ~78,000 Wh battery.
  25. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I hadn’t driven a Tesla till I took delivery of mine. I drove RWD after. Overall feeling of AWD is instant acceleration with no lag to me, feels amazing.

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I'm one of the few people with a non-P AWD delivered. My real world range is really hard to measure because I'm just flooring the car most chances I get. I haven't really done any lengthy trips, just like 20 miles or so. I'm currently getting 286 Wh/mile over the last 250 miles since taking...

FWIW I have no issues 1-pedaling in my AWD but couldn’t do it with the RWD.
  29. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

Interesting. A very unscientific way to judge this would be based on speed slowing from like 45 to 6mph (where the regenerative seems to shut off) between the AWD and RWD. Wouldn't be too hard to try and I could provide the AWD data.
  30. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

I'd be interested in official specs for both cars. Having driven the AWD for almost a week now, the RWD was not the same to me. I can slow from 40 to 8mph in like a handful of seconds. I never have to use the breaks. Driving the RWD in the same neighborhood with the same driving behavior I had...

I’m very sensitive to high pitched noises and I was very worried about it. I have nearly zero whine on my car. Like, less than I could have expected. I figured there would be a decent amount, I was just hoping it wouldn’t be bothersome. And there’s basically none, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve...
  32. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

Yes, I confirmed he was on Standard and I wanted to know for sure if the regen was the same or not. It makes sense if you think about it. AWD likely uses both motors to regen whereas RWD only has one motor to do so. I don’t know that that is how it works, but it’d explain the stronger regen feel...
  33. Deuce24

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

No one else is really talking about AWD from what I've seen. I'm only one test case, but the difference was very obvious. In my AWD I can take my foot off the accelerator and it'll slow me down extremely rapidly if I'm going 40 or under (takes more time the faster you're going obviously). I'm at...

Anxiously waiting an AWD review / videos

Okay! So I got to drive my friend’s RWD today. It wasn’t a 1 to 1 comparison since he only had 50% charge to my 70%, but every other setting was the same. But yeah, it has a lot less pull on the RWD than my AWD, especially 0-20. It feels the same at 30+. The regenerative breaking is...

I haven’t driven any other Tesla cars, unfortunately. My buddy has a RWD 3 and I’ll get to try it on Saturday. I didn’t use slip start. I can try a higher charge amount, lower tire pressure to 40 and use slip start for a serious run in the future. Trying to find a dragy first. Also I would...

Certainly not motivating me. I live in like the most congested area of SoCal, there isn’t a “rural road” within at least 50 miles. I put the videos together as fast as I could, I didn’t have time to take a 100+ mile drive. I made it as safe as I could. I didn’t want to try it on the freeway...

My first test drive in a Tesla was yesterday on my way home after delivery. I haven’t driven any other Tesla’s. My buddy has a RWD and is coming over on Saturday, I can compare experiences then. I got pearl white with aeros. Not sure on a test drive, I’ll have to think it over.
