Import was perfectly fine as per the initial post.
Problem arise basically when I tried to homogenize the car to function the same as one sold in the States at first place.
Wonder if anyone has done or know the process of move a Tesla from Canada to U.S.
I purchased my 3 in canada and recently moved to live permanently in U.S.
All the government work related work was straight forward. Got compliance letter from Tesla. CBP import was done in like 5minutes...
I know it's less and less of thing as there are more tesla's on the road nowadays. It used to be that we wave at each other.
I noticed while driving here on the road of Seattle, with my front plate one, only the guys/gals also have theirs on will wave at me. :D
I'm new in town with a Model 3. Just got my WA state plate.
Of all the 3 I see in town, most do not have a front plate. I know the law but wonder if I should help the scene by taken off my front bracket and plate.
No, it's not.
I took off the rear already. I got so many people on the road pass me and turn their heads around and look at the front hood to figure out what car it is. I almost feel obligated to have something in the front, LOL
Just re-applied PPF on hood
I'm now facing the choice of leaving it as is without badge or put on a white badge.
The white badge stands out more than I thought it would. I'm going for a stealth look.
What you guys think?
For all you guys suggesting OP to wait until he can afford, you are missing the point he described regarding Canadian federal EV rebate. So it's not only the price difference between SR+ and LR but also the rebate.
Agree. Not an easy decision to make.
Without the ability to charge at home, your EV experience on those 72 long commute days won't be as pleased...
You would start the day rushing to Nanaimo SC and hope there are less than 4 cars charging there. On the way back home, you will probably want to...
I think you will be able to make the 300+km trip, assume:
1. charge to at least 90%
2. try stick to 100km/hr or under. I remember speed limit there is 90
3. charge to 100% if you need to use heat in winter
I think this is actually a case where the Chademo adapter could be useful.
There are...
Supposely, there is an internal counter. Once reached, SC speed was reported to be limited by BMS to 90kw to protect the health of battery.
Tesla explains why it limits Supercharging speed after high numbers of DC charges - Electrek
No idea on....
1. Does this rule apply to 3 with newer...
Thanks for the info man.
When you say it periodically, i hope it means that it monitors state of charge or voltage on the 12v battery. So basically, it is not possible to drain 12V battery, as long as the main battery is in a healthy state of charge?
The 12V outlet draws power from the 12v battery. I assume the frig will draw from it.
The 75kwh battery runs with 400v.
In a ICE car, 12v battery is charged via alternator. Anyone know how does the 12v battery get charged in a Tesla? Is there an alternator like ICE cars? Or is there a...
Myself like many were paranoid with the number of remaining range shown next to the battery icon. Especially, it is not equal or more than the factory rated range.
I then came to acceptance that it's not a constant number. Nor is it a number calculated solely based on battery health condition...
I think the Chademo adapter at this point is more of a tech fun gadget. If you live in an area covered by Superchargers. It would take years to make the $680 cost back assume you can charge on Chademo for free.
On the other hand, if one is looking for a life style of eating swedish meat balls...
That would be awesome.
My bet is that it's the same adapter. on shop.tesla.com, both 3 and S/X brings you to the same page (same URL) for the chademo adapter.
Reporting back.
Seems to be a BMS calibration issue after all.
Set the charge limit to 100% saturday morning
Charged to 99% before having to take off. Range states 492km.
I know the battery management system monitors the temp of battery. If it is too cold, it use the battery heating/cooling loop to warm up the battery. I read somewhere that 3 doesn't have a dedicated battery heater like S/X. It uses its motor's residual heat to heat up battery. How the motor...
That's a good point.
In API, I think it's Battery Level and Usable Battery Level.
In my case, when I take off from garage, I don't have snowflake icon.
Range wise, beside those 2 stated, there is also "Ideal Battery Range". It's exactly the same as "Battery Range" in my case.
Guys, just to be clear, there are two range figures.
1. Battery Range – This is the number shown in main screen or charge screen if you have chosen to shown km. It's the rated range given by BMS (battery management system) using the current state of charge. It disregards your driving pattern...
Not really worried about the realistic range. We know it's gonna be way less in winter, especially when using heat. Like Ben1628 said. I usually just hope for half of stated range. New Energy app do a much better prediction on realistic range. I can say it's pretty accurate given I took the car...
Right when it finish for the last couple of days.
I also checked via tesla API to make sure it is indeed 80%. I didn't trust eye balling the green charge bar.
Even with 441, 441/90*80 = 392. That was what I remember "normal" is.
I haven't paid attention to this number until recently. I thought the missing km was used to warm battery after charge finished.
First of all, before that someone complains, reason to post in CA forum:
1. number in km, don't want to deal with math
2. more users driving in cold climate
With that out of the way, here it goes.
Car in question, LR RWD M3.
I usually set my charge limit to 80%. And I try to schedule the...
June 6th, 2018 application submition
Jan 17th, 2019 consent to the obudsman to make inquire about my application
Jan 18th, 2019 got email from EHVIP saying application is approved and payment will be issue by cheque. No specific ETA mentioned in email.
If this progress keeps up, I think we need a petition.
I know it's not easy to give each individual an update. At lease a public statement will be nice to give everyone a piece of mind.
LOL, what's with all you civic drivers buying M3. I thought they said it was all the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C Class people trading in for for Model 3.
Agreed. Windshield and roof was probably cut by fire fighters.
Curious to how bad it was. Hope the best for the drive and maybe he will let us know the experience after he recovers a bit.
