    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

The pickup truck shown in my very first charging there belongs to a guy from upstate New York. I got to talk to him when he returning from ACME. I pointed out the fact that the spots are important for Tesla Electric cars when they needed a spot for charging. The guy is actually very nice and he...

You are welcome! It’s been a long long time since your first post. It sure charge a lot faster than my 72A Wall Charger here in Stone Harbor. It took less than 20 minutes to add 110 miles. I will not need to use this charging facility unless my wall charger has issue. Couple places to visit...

Not so good news, on my way out for dinner this evening, passing the Super Chargers and saw the coming soon covers are back on. Earlier, talking to the contractors who were waiting for (over six hours), Tesla tech to show up. Guess that didn’t happen:-(... Waiting game continues...

The flash labels are in! So is the meter! The meter reads 000000 kWh as of this afternoon. This tells me the electric is connected. All it need is to ask mayor to throw the switch inside the locked meter cabinet. The “Coming Soon” Winter jackets are not coming out as yet! The Winter is coming...

The missing link is the grounding issue between the meter cabinet and transformer need to be terminated by the contractor before Electric company can connect the transformer. Hope mayor is on top of this small detail.

I am glade you are thinking what we can do together to promote the progress. 1. We can call Tesla and let them know the unusual delays. 2. Call Middle Township zoning office and express our concerns... I did both back in May. Enough voices will bring this project to fruition. Any idea?

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

Here Is the situation, the meter cabinet inspection FAILED on 5/31. The failure is due to improperly grounding in the meter cabinet. The contractor has not done any corrective action since. Atlantic Electric is verifying the grounding issue this week. The underground crew can not terminate the...

Thank you for your detailed analysis. My point still valid. If you want to get a taste of how fast Taiwan and China’s super fast construction culture, look at the G3 construction currently going on in Shanghai. I visited an electronic company in Taiwan many years ago, they needed an ic chip to...

The inspection is supposedly done this past Tuesday. It is between CMCH township and Atlantic Electric. As I said, if history is any indication, end of July is when the grand opening ceremony!

That is way too optimistic. You won’t find a single soul working during 4th of July. After that, it will take two more weeks to recuperate. Another week to find the paper work... Oh! can you see, by the desk’s late night, what so proudly we cry, to the dawn’s last screaming....

You are absolutely correct! Called Middle town zoning office today. They are essentially “waiting” for electrical contractor’s inspection report??? Not sure who the contractor is. I didn’t want to ask him too many questions. It sure felt like retarded process.

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

It’s a small town. Mayor most likely knew what’s going on. The fact mayor knew who is holding the ball is good bet the mayor is on top of this. I may stop by the supermarket and ask the management about the status.
  20. J

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

Would you ask the mayor when will the inspection take place? It sounded like mayor is saying the inspection has already passed

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

The transformer and all Tesla cabinets were installed three weeks ago. The meter is not installed as of today. Talked to an Atlantic Electric tech guy yesterday and he said the final is held up at township pending on inspection.

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

I am fully aware of this. By squeeze the steering wheel I mean to "counter" the autopilot with a slight force and counter the autopilot's steering action. In any case, if you do this every few seconds, it became more tiresome than manual steering. A proper way to deal with this safety feature is...

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

Sorry, I was speaking of V8. My guess is V9 should behave the same as V8. My point is: if Tesla setting a rule for the driver to follow then it should not inflict additional pain while enforcing the rule.

Software Update 2018.39 4a3910f (plus other v9.0 early access builds)

Ya! my hand is on the steering wheel all the time and I got nagged if I don't deliberate squeeze the wheel from time to time. Or, if I hold the steering wheel a little firm, I may get "kick-out" of the autopilot mode. Tesla's autopilot nagging feature should do a better job to letting the driver...

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

What you are talking about is very temporary and the time will come sooner than you know it: How will self-driving cars impact your car insurance? Any auto insurance companies don't face the fact that FSD is coming will not be in business in next few years.

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

Ok! Two facts: Your car has steering wheel with L4 package and by using the L4 software, the insurance companies will argue somehow the steering wheel is not there therefore, you can not retake the control? Second, did the insurance companies provided you any document regarding your...

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

L4 is defined as such steering wheel and brake paddle are required for human driver to "retake the control". L5 is optional. So long as you are driving a car with steering wheel and brake that would allow you, as a human driver, to take over the control. I don't see the problem of driving FSD...

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

Ok! Google can self insured because it is ahead of it's time and probably economical decision as well. Nevertheless, FSD is insurable which is no different than a worker got hurt by an automated robot. We are in the world of transition to full automation in many fronts. The insurance companies...

Firmware 9 in August will start rolling out full self-driving features!!!

That was the plan and once FSD Waymo is in service. So, it is insurable since there is "insurable interest" according to the basic insurance principal.

FSD features to start rolling out in August...

FSD Level 0 thru 5 are well defined in publication. Tesla can not fool you for what you are talking about.
  34. J

FSD features to start rolling out in August...

According to the rule: Fist come first go. If someone waived, as human you may take on the "nice" offer. With FSD, you will stick to the rule. Google tried humanized the FSD on one of right turn scenario and did not quite work. Human factors introduce errors, hence not a good traffic rule to follow.

FSD features to start rolling out in August...

Based on Level 4 FSD, human driver still be responsible for intervention from time to time. So, it does NOT require government approval. If Must is talking about releasing it by August, it will sure be Level 4 since Level 3 is a "conditional automation and Level 5 will require Congress's...

FSD features to start rolling out in August...

Musk is an intelligent person. I sure hope what he said carry high degree of fact plus some optimism as part of his wishful thinking. To be fair, if the autopilot version 9 can achieve Level 4 (High automation), I will be very pleased for what Tesla has promised.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

I have personally witnessed case #3 in front of me. The driver's last second decision blinded him from checking the surrounding upcoming traffics.
  38. J

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

Understood, the evolution of autopilot needs real world experience. While it does improve traffic accident but it also created a false positive safety issue because of the driver "misunderstand" when and where the autopilot is in trouble.

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

This accident, based on Tesla's statement, is related to use of autopilot where the system (autopilot + driver monitoring) has FAILED!
  42. J

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

Very well said and you do have good understanding of safety engineering. My hope is Tesla's AI will place more emphasis on "absolute" safety philosophy. If not, there will be more dead bodies piled up in our public road due to "driver's" fault.

Cruise control does not have AI, therefore, no problem using it as is. That was the ONLY object that has triggered multiple warnings. If it is not a concrete barrier, can you think of anything that is warning worthy? Finally, would you drive a car that doesn't have brake?

Model X Crash on US-101 (Mountain View, CA)

I don't have problem with your idea of less than perfect state of the art technology. However, a minimum of showing some sign of the emergency stoping for imminent collision avoidance is paramount important prior to release this technology. I don't fault the autopilot for not able to read the...
