Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
1. any tpms sensor †hat is Tesla compatiable should work, it is auto detected by the car and you just choose rim size on the mcu and ¥øu’re Good to go.
2. Xl load rated winter tires are fine — blizzack, Michelin x-ice, nokian happa, pinareli, general .
3. You do not need to have it done by...
I have 6800 miles on my LR m3 red and am at wear bars in the rear too... Will be switching to pilot sports in the summer and xice in the winter and hoping for better wear.
Me too!
You won’t like it if you have to pull it out in 0 degree weather with snow wearing gloves and accidentally dropping it in the snow. I hated it in feburary of last year. Thankfully phone key has been working better lately. (Last 4 months).
I live 100 mi away from the nearest supercharger. First time I used it was when I needed it. I bought a second umc and took it out to use it and they sent me a Europen model. Thankfully I was near a supercharger but could have been 100 mi plus from one. This is a Tesla problem. I have a vin in...
I live where temps range from -20 to 40 F during the winter. I purchased my m3 in Feb. I ran about 320wh/mi. About 30-40% loss in the worst of weather. It wasn't a problem for short trips but longer trips, I had to be cautious. No issues in the suer, getting 220 - 240 wh/mi
Thanks everyone. Sounds like Tesla will make it right but should have some sort of system so this doesn’t happen. The nematode 14-50 adapter said NA on it. I was an engineer in my prior life, and keeping the assembly lines separate or run days different would avoid this error altogether.
I was fortunate as I was only 20mi away from a supercharger. I almost took my car on a trip with no super chargers within 150mi of my destination and would have charged there... or not charged and had to be tow trucked 150mi or overnighted a cable or ranger.
FYI check your cable before you leave.
I bought a Tesla umc cable from the Tesla store back in March to keep with my car as I use the original at home.
This was the first weekend I needed it and I removed it from the package for the first time and got a plug that doesn't fit into my car.
Can anyone identify it? European plug? Older...
The main downfall to cold weather is
Significantly reduced range (30-40%)
Poor Regen
Reduced charging rate at supercharger.
My experience a cold soaked battery at garage temp of 32. Outdoor temp of 20, it took an hour of freeway driving at 65mph to get to normal temp.
It takes a long time... I parked my car I. My insulated garage, 32F, outside temp 20F. Took about an hour for all Regen available and loss of efficiency with cabin heater to 320Whr/mi.
Excellent post, my hole ended up about the same. When using your 1up I haven't figured out how to use the Velcro backup and/or chains if pulling a small utlity trailer. I guess u could have someone weld on a hook to the hitch.
I was able to install mine in 3 hours. The hole is too small even with a 4 inch cutter. You have to slide the bolt up at a wierd angle and need a special wrench to tighten it. I was able to do it without toouch trouble but lost one push clip and have not a very pretty hole. Now to use it with my...
I installed the hitch today myself. Took a little over 3 hours. The main issue was removing the bumper bar support? It was heavily painted to the chassis and took quite a bit of trying to get it off and they were also holding water.
I did the 4 inch holes and I disagree with the measurements...
Rbowen, as you can tell I did use sis technique. This is adding 3mm height the bumper cover... If that's gonna screw up the fit/finish Tesla is crazy. The more I look at mine being off still 1/8 of an inch on one side, it's driving me crazy. I might go back and do it a 3rd time. The snaps are...
awaiting mine. purchased as soon as available. looks like it will be a solid day work of installing it. cannot wait to be able to talk my bike with me.
10.5 really screwed this up imo. The car doesn't wake until I open the handle and I have to hold it for 1-2 seconds. Whereas before it's wake before I got to the car.
Been 2 months, car is still on my cousins account. Emailed 4 times, called twice. Most recently yesterday... "It's been taking a couple weeks"... I told them it's been 2 months, they said a couple more weeks... Maybe by 2019.
The problem comes from the bumper cover. The hood or trunk is not misshapen. The bumper cover sags so the hood has to be lower. There is a fix from SIA posted in interior/exterior sub forum. It works but you have to do some minor disassembly work on your new car.
Huh? I've never had an issue previously with a car or fit or finish. But since I've never spent 60k on a car before I haven't looked. I ended up fixing my frunk myself... Try working on a brand new car taking it apart when it should be done right in the first place. I cannot wait for your rant...
its not the simple. the headlights sticking out are "normal". the sunken hood is "normal". these are not normal items are out quite visually disturbing once you notice them. they also refuse to fix them since they are "normal"
Sia, I redid it and it's much better, I could not find appropriate single washers 1/8 inch thick x 1/4 inch hole and 1 inch diameter. I had to stack 2 washers together and it's acceptable now. I found washers with 0.062 thickness with two it's about 3mm. 3 would be better but hard to stack 3. I...
Looks like you’re right. My washers are only 1-1.5mm. I misplaced my digital calipers. I will try again. I also purchased some self adhesive rubber bumpers to bring down those adjuster a bit.
Will try round 2.
thank you for the information post. I did all the above, even with the front trunk latch at the heighest setting, one side is still not level. At the highest level, the bumpers dont touch the frunk liner and the hood wobbles back and forth.
I went to homedepot and got nylon 1/4" fender washers...
I had to do it via email. Picked up the car 2/16, submitted 2/18 took another email request on 2/20 and 7 days to get a response and was told another 5-7 business days. It has been 6 and car still not on my account. My DS got the car on my phone with my account login however.
It's going on 3 weeks for me to transfer my account from my cousin. I have phone key access but no online access. Tesla said it should be completed this week. I dont understand the massive delay.
Depends on the color and wheels and if they have any cars premade that aren't spoken form. Some people are getting their car within 2 weeks, otherwise 6-8 weeks. Once VIN assigned, most are getting the vehicle within 1 week. It's a bitchin car btw.
you must of seen mine which I just picked up. was out of town. I'll try the bumper fix and see if that helps. The DS said thats what he saw on all of them... dunno.
I picked up my model 3 today and agree with all the comments made by the OP. What an awesome car. I have 2 issues including a sunken frunk and some wind noise from the driver door above 65mph. Otherwise pretty awesome. Prewarmed got 305wh/mi at 27 degrees F. So pretty happy with that.
I shopped around as my premium went from 1200/yr to 2500/yr on liberty mutual in MN, lowest I found was progressive with a rate of 1200/yr for all 3 vehicles. 250/500/100. 500 deductible.
Unfortunately it looks like your DS plays a huge role in VIN assignment and delivery process. My VIN wasn't assigned until 2/7 and my conf was complete 1/15. But my DS called me 2 days after configuration and have been in touch the whole time. I'm sure you'll hear something soon.
