Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I've worked up a spreadsheet with the help of some folks here on the TMC (calculating residuals is beyond me). The values are in KM and Canadian $$, but you can do the conversions for just about anywhere. Link is in my signature.
All the prices in there currently are based on best quotes from...
Have you used the "Escalate to an Executive" path in the Tesla app or through the My Tesla Account webpage?
Tesla now lets owners escalate issues directly to executives in order to improve communications
Methuselah... is that you? I thought we discussed you posting on forums...
As is? No one. Tesla will take it back and "remanufacture" the problem parts, or if deemed too much of a problem, they'll tear it down as a learning exercise. It's what they've done in other cases.
I'm getting the 18" wheels as well, for all the same reasons. Whether or not I'll go with a different rim is entirely dependant on when and what is available by the time I get my car. And as I'm going for the D (I love the D!!!) and I live in Canada, my reservation is netting me a (current) date...
That is also a distinct possibility on the daily drive! On the night I went to dinner and parked in the lot where that supercharger now lives?
Well, I was going to say that it wasn't nearly as likely, but I'll be honest, it was slightly/minimally less likely...
Nah. I imagine they just have a very well established process for shipping, delivery, and build that compacts the schedule. It's just a matter of logistical efficiency.
Yes. I drive past there every morning, get my groceries at the Loblaws in that location every other week, and get my coffee in that same plaza often enough. I was at the Kelsey's 3 Fridays ago (just double-checked my transaction history on my account).
I would love to go completely off grid, but it's more likely that I'll have to stay on-grid for the foreseeable future. With my roof area, and the average sun exposure here in central Ontario I can look to get about 6kWh from solar when it's installed next year, which likely won't be enough to...
Yeah, I need to straighten that out. Those maintenance costs are from my local dealer based on the "schedule" they have... which really seems to be a work of fiction. I mean, these are the same people who keep trying to tell me my Volt needs an oil change every 8,000km...
@NewTMSMan HELP!!!!
How do I convert your residual calculation to use Kilometers? You have it set to 32000 miles, which would ~= 51,200km/year, but I'm trying to keep my values consistent and I need a breakdown of the values used in your calculations
Most people don't even purchase their car based on TCO, but rather on sticker price or aesthetics alone. Only the recent spike in fuel costs has made the majority even pay attention to the MPG/Lp100km ratings when they're looking to buy a new car.
Are the long term benefits something that...
Thanks! I'll work those factors in when I update the sheet tonight! And I'll do them the same way I've done other non-fixed values and make them a configurable value.
How far do you drive? I'm driving ~50,000km/year if it's a relatively quiet year...
Ok, keep in mind the prices you're seeing are in Canadian, and based on the features I want: ACC, heated seats and steering wheel (a MUST on an electric car to eke out the longest range), etc. As for the Volt...
You're very right @NewTMSMan ! Again, this sheet was built using my driving distances, and after 5 years, my cars are typically sitting ~250,000km (~160,000mi) at which point they get passed on to my wife, who only does short in-town driving (she's looking forward to the Volt).
I see you've...
Hey Everyone. I've been lurking here forever and finally made the plunge to register! So... hi!
This is my first thread here, so please forgive me if I mess up the formatting/tags!
Here's the story.
I try to do all major purchases based on Total Cost of Ownership, especially expendable...
Oh, i can't edit my own posts yet? Ok...
I wanted to add, what I'm not a big fan of with the Model 3 steering wheel is the depth of the grip on it. It looks like it'll take some getting used to. I'm also not too keen on the taper/shape of the bottom support, it looks awkward and makes the hub...
You know what I really like about the 3 steering wheel? How little chrome it has! There's nothing worse than being blinded by the interior of your car when the sun is behind/beside you.
Thanks @FlatSix911 ! That info isn't available on the Canadian page.
I have a 40 amp breaker running to a Sun Country Highway/Clipper Creek EV40P in my garage, so, when I get my Model 3 I can expect it to charge at 32 amps/7.7 kW and get ~48kmph. That makes me very happy indeed.
I'm hoping to get more control out of the features and functions on the touch screen via the steering wheel controls. Having those controls be custom configurable would be even nicer. But really? The only thing I ever really play with in my current car while driving is the audio, switching...
I'm actually quite happy with the Blue that's available, though Performance models will probably need some sort of yellow to keep a certain segment happy.
