    New Powerwall Monitor

Forgot to mention - this isn't cloud based. The data is stored on your Pi in an InfluxDB, the graphics use grafana.

    New Powerwall Monitor

Someone here in Australia just developed a new monitor that runs on a Raspberry Pi. If you have one laying around the house, then put it to good use - if not buy one :) mihailescu2m/powerwall_monitor

    Firmware 1.22.1

Back to 1.21.0 now - no idea why it was rolled back - anyone else experience this???

    Firmware 1.22.1

    Just updated to 1.22.3.

    Firmware 1.21.0

Must be a USA thing, don't see it here in Australia.

    No, firmware still at 1.20.0.

If Tesla Disables Features You're Using...

WOW - this is weird - just tried the TEG connection again and decided as I have done every night before going to bed to check it - for some reason it is now working and I'm able to connect via wifi again - who'd of thunk it. Am I dreaming and it will just be a nightmare as it has been - stay tuned.

    Firmware 1.20.0

It is a bug - and also deliberate - I'm afraid we aren't going to win this just discussing. I've sent an email to solarquotes.com.au people - maybe some bad publicity will turn it around? At least we can maybe convice someone thinking of buying any Tesla product will think twice before they do.

If Tesla Disables Features You're Using...

You probably need to add an option - remove access for Tesla - which I think that will be my next step if Tesla Australia doesn't do something about it - and the government doesn't either. I'm seriously thinking of removing the 3g sim and see what they think.

If Tesla Disables Features You're Using...

According to NA support that does level 1 support Australia has reviewed the situation and stated that they have not in their opinion they have not violated Australia Consumer Law because the access was never intended to be provided. I've asked that the local (Australia) office call me to discuss.

If Tesla Disables Features You're Using...

And I would like to find out how to do that here in Australia Sylvia, I received a bullsh1t email from Tesla support in the States that states and I quote "I was informed that our customers can only access the app through their mobile phones, the only ones that has the ability to access it...

    Firmware 1.20.0

Well I powered everything off for over 15 minutes, TEG wireless came back but when running the wizard it found no wireless networks - it is like it is turned off. You are right about the blood pressure and Telsa support - they don't have a clue what is going on.

Lost connectivity on wired ethernet to powerwalls?

Your... for some reason can't edit my previous post.

Lost connectivity on wired ethernet to powerwalls?

Ah, thanks. You’re post made in sound like 1.21.0 fixed it.

Lost connectivity on wired ethernet to powerwalls?

Maybe when the install was complete the gateway rebooted?
  17. N

Lost connectivity on wired ethernet to powerwalls?

I was told when my installation was delayed because of a gateway issue that they are built in each country because of the different standards that are followed. Mine doesn't have a reset button, just a metal plate for the second door.
  18. N

    Firmware 1.20.0

They have turned mine off too - how did the conversation with Tesla Support go, did they restore your access?
  19. N

    Firmware 1.20.0

OK - if you are using pvoutput.org for your PW2 - a fix for the missing battery % has been made by BB. Tesla Powerwall2 data to PVoutput?

Same for me - the electrician didn't have a clue :-)

New firmware will change internet connection type.

Maybe like TOU they will roll this out gradually or have the parameters so it will rarely switch over - trouble is we won't know until they do it but this firmware version gives them the option - not us.
  22. N

New firmware will change internet connection type.

So what will happen if your internet goes down? Ethernet won't help if your internet connection isn't available.
  23. N

New firmware will change internet connection type.

Well, Tesla has now screwed up our ability to monitor our PW2 with the latest firmware update. They will now change via their code between wi-fi, ethernet and 3g networks. Looks like we will have to let Tesla know this isn't acceptable...

    Time-Based Control?

Updated to 1.15.3 yesterday - no TOU here yet though.

Yeah - same thread but that is the specific post.

    Time-Based Control?

According to a recent post on whirlpool.net.au, it looks like charging from the grid is available in Australia with the new TOU capability. https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2684893&p=-1&#bottom
  27. N

Time Based Control - What Do You Think of The Functionality Offered?

From what I've read the functionality isn't going to be that extensive. For instance charging from the grid during off-peak times isn't going to be available - the only thing in the app looks to be usage time shifting. Looks like the functionality needed is only available through user1253's...

    Time-Based Control?

There is someone on the Whirpool.net.au forum that claims his/her app shows an Advance tab that has TOU settings - I don't see it at present - anyone else see it?
  29. N

    Time-Based Control?

I look forward to seeing the alpha version and all the ones to follow. Not sure how much help it will be for most of the US folks since if they have solar they can't charge from the grid (at least those that are getting the tax credit) but we Aussies will certainly appreciate it :-) .

    PowerWall with Enphase microinverters

Yes, but does that apply when you get a PW2? Are you looking to get that gov subsidy that restricts the usage of it? Good luck if it does.

    TESLA APP FOR PC

I have to say I hate apps on the pc, I prefer web access hence I use the PVOutput.org site to collect and present my data.

    PowerWall with Enphase microinverters

The reason I was asking, I don't know if you generate enough to feed the house and re-charge one battery (let alone two). If you can, it would be boarder line from the numbers I'm seeing. From what I've been seeing on this and other forums, the US has some strange regulations... you need to...
  33. N

    PowerWall with Enphase microinverters

Also, you have to take into consideration the amount you can generate to recharge the PW2 - you don't mention the amount of power your household comsumes in a day (and night). It is important to understand that before buying more than one - you can always get one now and add another later if...

    Software versions for Powerwall 2?

I have the same version - don't know when it was installed - must have been overnight.
  35. N

    PowerWall with Enphase microinverters

Yep, I have 12 panels with S270s and 24 panels with M250s along with one PW2 installed.
  36. N

Time of Use Power Shifting for Powerwall 2

This is definetly correct, your first point about charging from the grid is questionable based on restrictions in the US that I've seen quoted on this forum. You can charge from the grid in Australia though - but that does you little good.
  37. N

    Time-Based Control?

Some interesting links posted on whirlpool.net.au.... See Time-Based Control | Tesla and Powerwall Modes of Operation with Solar for more info.
  38. N

    Time-Based Control?

Yeah, hopefully for other markets they are taking into account the difference between USA rules and the rest of the world. This isn't applicable to Australia for instance.

Backup Mode vs 100% Self-Powered Mode

Charging rate from the grid is 1.7kW vs Solar charging which is 5.0kW.
  40. N

What is your reserve percentage set to and why?

It will vary depending on weather and time of day. If I need to use the aircon, then I'll set it to a percentage that I'll estimate will get me through the peak and shoulder periods and start using the grid when on off-peak rates. Then in the morning before peak starts again I'll lower the...

    Software versions for Powerwall 2?

Yep - you are right - I never tried to adjust it but right now it is just for show - like I said before maybe this is in prep of the TOU changes that are coming - hopefully soon.

    Software versions for Powerwall 2?

There is something new, in the customize area, when you select backup only the same -/+ Reserve for Power Outages comes up - it always defaulted to 100% before and now you can select a reserve. Initial stages of app changes for TOU?

Does Powerwall Alert You When The Grid Goes Down?

No it isn’t that sophisticated. Your app will reflect the change immediately, but the sever won’t update the PW2 gateway for up to an hour. No pending indication and no confirmation I’m afraid.
  47. N

Does Powerwall Alert You When The Grid Goes Down?

I've seen it take up to an hour. I've seen a pattern of behaviour that it updates between 5 to 10 minutes after the hour - so it depends when you make the request.
  48. N

    Software versions for Powerwall 2?

In Australia the first quote is the best for us - the second quote doesn't apply here - the Feed-In-Tarrif is the same all day long.

    New install question

I'm pretty sure all he wants to do is use the battery instead of power from the grid. When you are installed (and have PV) the default is Backup-only, you need to change it to Self-powered and pick a reserve level you want in case of grid failure. So he is simulating a grid failure by turning...
  50. N

    New install question

Yes, app access is required. Check to see if you are set up to keep 100% in case of power grid failure (Backup-only). It is the 4th option on the app, you will want to check the Self-powered circle and set a reserve.
