    Brakes temporarily not working!

I'm going to go out on a limb here... ... did it happen to be icy outside when you experienced this? It's worth asking.

While Teslas fail at "Cars and Coffee"

It really depends on where that Cars and Coffee is located. Bigger cities like Dallas/Houston won't bother glancing because Teslas are really common. At midsize cities like Austin or San Antonio, you might get a little interest. Going to smaller cities or town car shows (usually they don't have...

    Financially Irresponsible or Worth It?

Do you have an emergency fund of any kind? Your budgeting goes in the shitter if you have a sudden $5000 bill or lose your job. $500/mo in free spending certainly won't go as far as you think it will. Your family may not appreciate you living with them rent-free if you get such an expensive car...

Driving Log: Austin -> Baton Rouge road trip; Harvey edition.

Wanted to give a status update on this fiasco. I did some more research on lawyers, and ended up hiring a cheaper attorney out of Baton Rouge. He was able to have the failure to comply ticket dropped and the one-way violations down to a non-moving "wrong address on drivers license" (that is...

Tesla Fails to Get My State Tags

FYI: if its URGENT that you get a new temp tag and you cannot get one from the dealer, head to your local tax accessor/dmv/dps/whatever its called (look it up), bring your receipt (you should have received something proving tax has been paid for when you bought the car). They may be able to give...

The lawyer got back to me, and thinks it's a valid civil rights case and think it'll be easy to get a dismissal alone. Unfortunately, it'll start at $1800 in lawyer fees, but it'll be worth it regardless of the outcome. I've been advised not to go into details at this time, but wish me luck!

I really appreciate the offer! I don't think the costs are going to be insane so I don't mind thowing a chunk of change out of my pocket to cover it. If its really high for some reason (like if it drags on for a while), I may start some sort of fundraiser.

Oops, I may have been mistaken on the number of slots. It may have only been 3 / 6 available. The signs with the white circles shows general parking is allowed, while the others say Tesla only

I only had a bottle of windex, which ultimately ruined my wax job, but I think autopilot was more important IMO. If this happens to you, go wash the car, then call Tesla; they can diagnose & reset the car's control unit remotely to bring it back online instead of waiting a while in park. I don't...

The towing company said they would get back to me after they tow it or not, but they haven't called me back yet. Yes, there is a lot more to the story, but I don't want to get into it until the case is taken care of in court. After the case is settled, I'll do a write-up in a separate post. I'll...

Roger, there is a little more to that story than it sounds... trust me, I didn't tarnish our reputation (witnesses and such agreed what I did was exactly what they would have done and said what the cop did maybe be in the wrong). Calling someone a name is childish, but in the heat of the moment...

And yes, baton rouge does have a supercharger. It's next to a bar and restaurant in case you need a beer...

Driving Log: Austin -> Baton Rouge road trip; Harvey edition.

I made it just fine to baton rouge. The Alexandria spot was just me and an ICE. Turns out that ICE was a unmarked police officer who gladly wrote me $700+ in tickets after calling him an asshole. I'm in the process of getting a lawyer so won't go into much detail. If any lawyers in that area...

Driving Log: Austin -> Baton Rouge road trip; Harvey edition.

UPDATE: Made it to Alexandria safely. Roads were clear, but the floodwaters were a couple feet from cresting the road near Leesville. I asked a local and they said the water was much closer and is going now really quickly so nothing to worry about. Jasper, tx is OK on the highway (txdot had many...

UPDATE: Made it to Huntsville, TX supercharger. No other Tesla's here. Will be here for another 45 mins. The Roads were great and dry. One scary thing was autopilot failed when I hit a massive swarm of bugs and slammed on the brakes right before college station. I went to a gas station to clear...

8:07AM: Leaving home at 8:20AM. Expecting some rush hour traffic, but heading in the opposite flow of downtown Austin. Going to head to Huntsville, TX supercharger via US 290, 21, 190. Austin -> Paige -> Bryan -> Madisonville -> Huntsville. Current best idea is Alexandria, LA. Monitioring areas...

This is hugely helpful new. This was one of my concerns as to which route to take there. 190 seems the best choice.

Driving Log: Austin -> Baton Rouge road trip; Harvey edition.

My current plan is Austin -> Huntsville -> Alexandria -> Baton Rouge -> NOLA. That might change. Monitoring a few things: Lake Livingston is in flood stage, bridge isn't flooded, and dam is draining now. Looks good at this point. Austin -> Huntsville roads look OK right now, but there are side...

Driving Log: Austin -> Baton Rouge road trip; Harvey edition.

Long time lurker and figured I'd provide status updates on a journey I'm making from Austin, TX to Baton Rouge, LA tomorrow (Thursday, Aug 31st, 2017). One day after Harvey has mostly left the area. No real choice, and, outside of a rental car, I'm taking the Tesla. I'm starting the journey at...
