Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I don't really care if she plugs in every night or not. My main concern is that now she's fixated on only charging to what she thinks she needs, as she believes she's doing harm to the battery if not. Her traditional behavior was to charge it to 80%, drive it down to 20-30%, and then charge. I...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

Hey all, Long story short, for years now my mom insists on not keeping her Model 3 LR plugged in. She lives in a home, parks in a garage, and I put a level 2 charger in it for her to use. About once to twice a year she says "so and so says it's bad to plug in your Tesla every day." I reply by...

Blog Bollinger Prices All-Electric Truck at $125K

No, it can take a payload of 5,000. Meaning it can carry an additional 5,000 on the vehicle itself. To not have airbags it had to have a gross vehicle weight rating of 10,001 lbs. It weighs about 5,000, so you get the extra as payload.

I can replicate his results. If I do Dec 31, 2017, 10AM, Non-CA west coast, Tesla Owner, I get 20th Feb, 2018. Done via a PC and Google Drive.

Received Email to Configure - Missing Options??

    1. Premium package includes heated seats 2. Faux Leather 3. No they are a different bolt pattern from what I have read. What you choose is really a personal choice. If you value range the most, go with the Aero 18's. If you like the look of the 19s and are okay giving up a little range, go with...

    Wiki Model 3 delivery estimator

Well technically it's both. First it's a number, and then it's a ticking clock. Is it possible their concern is that while Model 3 numbers are ramping slower than expected, Model S and X production continues to grow and get sold, thus reducing from the overall 200,000 number that triggers the...

    GOT MY VIN

I'd be surprised and very disappointed if this guy managed to get ahead of me, even as an owner, as a day 1, west coast, non-owner reserver. Despite buying a current tesla, someone coming in 1.5 years after opening and jumping the line would be sad. Especially considering his estimate is late...

Blog Tesla Model 3 Reviewed As ‘Coolest Car of 2017’

I'd be okay with a different UI approach. I'd be against adding back in physical controls for it, with the counter-argument being why add physical controls for something one might occasionally do. I acknowledge that people might occasionally want to modify their headlight settings from auto, but...

Yes, because the only thing this plan changes is the EV Tax Credit . . . Really bruh?

    over promise under deliver

I agree with Elon in that it takes a certain type of optimism to even get into the game of building EVs and rockets. Would I like more realistic expectations to be set? Sure, but I wouldn't want it as the cost of a defining characteristic that gave us this eccentric, eager, and optimistic...

Going to offer these in 18"? The price would be almost exactly what one would pay for the 19" upgrade, but wouldn't need to source tires too.

LR model range being undersold and more!

I don't see it as underreporting, but rather Tesla picking a range that will be obtainable in more than just ideal conditions. Some people will be buying these in winter, so imaging picking one up with a stated 310 miles of range, to find that you only get 280. While us electric car enthusiasts...

S/X custom order only until end of quarter. Creating production for 3?

Could also be a cost saving effort to not stock any unsold vehicles. A car they build but haven't sold is really just debt.

Is a lack of instrumentation dangerous?

Had there been forums forty years ago we would have seen the same "is it dangerous" posts regarding things like ABS and traction control. No avoiding it really. For those who feel it's that big of a deal, hop out of line, no one will care. At this point you're getting what you're getting. The...

Is a lack of instrumentation dangerous?

I think people are making a mountain from a molehill on this. I still call bs on the muscle memory thing in most use cases. You turn up the heat or ac and you still look to see the result. You change the station you still look to see what one you landed on. Most of the buttons you press charges...

    Ambient Lighting

The 06 saleen had gauges which I could change the color of, but not the ambient lighting. Not sure about subsequent models though. My point was mainly that if we're trying to make the case we shouldn't use cars that are 2x as expensive as the examples. Subsequent posters have provided some mid...

    Tesla Replaces Half Dozen Parts

For what it's worth my volt had taillight condensation issues and that was a full fledged production car. Nothing is perfect, but at least they're figuring it out now instead of when they're 50k cars deep. And they likely had multiple suppliers on hand and ready, just for instances like this.

I suspect that if one spent as much time interacting with the Model 3 screen as they did a keyboard they're be pretty proficient at operating it blindly too :).

Why does a millionaire-but-maybe-not-really Model S owner/non-owner-who-is-really-sure spend so much time on the forums trying to get gratification? Go short some stock if you're that confident in your predictions . . .

Is a lack of instrumentation dangerous?

In your example though, the ONLY thing that has changed between a traditional car and the Model 3 is the speedo location. And to be fair they're not the first vehicle that has moved it to a central location. The model 3 still has a horn, turn signal stalk, etc. Headlights are automatic, which is...

You can navigate contextual menus via muscle memory as well, provided those menus remain relatively static over time. And to think kids these days will never know the joys of that. We're not mad things are improving, we're just mad future generations don't have to go through the hells some of us did. 2018 Leaf vs Model 3

Except it's not vaporware. It simply doesn't provide all of the promised functions, but does actually deliver on many. It matches speed to traffic, stays within lanes, can self park, and is very close to automatic lane changes. It will change lanes, but requires a user prompt to do so. EAP is...

Is a lack of instrumentation dangerous?

I'm going to give it awhile in use before I make my determination. So far I've loved ever instance where a manufacturer has moved physical buttons to a screen, as it frees up real estate for other uses. But we'll see what it's like with no buttons, but I'm optimistic that I'll adapt quickly and...

    Anyone only care about autopilot

So glad to hear this. I'm used to driving very sporty cars, but bought and Accord as the gap-filler because I wanted something easy to sell for whenever the Model 3 suddenly became available for me. Holy *sugar* is this car a soul-killer.

Model 3 "Production Bottlenecks" lead to lower-than-anticipated Q3 delivery #s

So basically the slow ramp is a good thing for tax credit recipients so long as it stems deliveries in 2017. But then it translates to a bad thing if production isn't ramped up by the start of 2018, as then potential Model 3 tax credit takes may get replaced by more Model S and X buyers getting...

    2018 Leaf vs Model 3

They're not mutually exclusive though. It's not like the technology featured in the Model 3 means an end to human-involved driving. It might simply mean that you can take control when you want to, like at the track, on switchbacks, etc. but don't have to when driving is a mundane task, like in 5...

    2018 Leaf vs Model 3

Since this has shifted a bit to what Tesla offers that others don't, check this out. No, it's not available to the public yet, but all their AP 2.0+ cars are supposedly hardware equipped to be able to do this. If this doesn't impress you, I don't know what will :).

    2018 Leaf vs Model 3

Competition is a great thing for all of us. I'm a fan of both the leaf and the bolt from a competitor standpoint, but neither are really considerations in my mind purely for aesthetic reasons. I want to drive a good-looking, well-handling car that happens to be electric. Both the bolt and leaf...

So Like it has been a Month, What If..

I felt like Elon was very clear at the reveal at how easy it would be to bottleneck production. He said all it would take was one part from one supplier. As to them running a credit check, I very much doubt it. But it would be easy for your friend to find out if he/she suspected it. Until then...

I'd really like some updates from them with substance. Right now it's all a tease. Where are they with testing, where with finding a partner to build it, are they on or off track from where they'd like to be to release in 2018/2019, etc? Right now things feel too superficial with all of these...

That's a very over simplified comparison though, since the larger battery in the model s came with substantial performance upgrades as well.

Anyone not getting Enhanced Autopilot (EAP)?

And yet you have zero evidence that this is the case for Tesla and still continue to post about price elasticity and how they could improve profit by dropping the price. But you simply don't know that to be true here. That, and you have zero concept of how software pricing works it seems.

    Point A to Point B

Same. I agree about the negativity, but not about the point a to point b. But I'm a car enthusiast, so it's a hobby in addition to a necessity, and I recognize I might be in the minority.
