    Model X new spoiler cost

I just had the spoiler replacement quoted by the local Tesla service center. Parts are around $400. Paint ~$300. Labor another $400. Total quote was $1130 + tax.

Showroom deal and build quality improvement

dkim, congrats on the new MX. sounds like you got a great deal. I just picked up my second MX in Paramus in December after the 3-year lease ran out on the old one. I was glad I didn’t order FSD on my last lease, but decided to go for it on this one. Figured another 3 years is enough time to...

Key fob is guzzling batteries AGAIN!

I ordered the batteries from Amazon. I did check the batteries each time and they showed over 3 Volts before I put them in the key fob but it's still possible that they were duds. It might be worth ordering another batch.

Key fob is guzzling batteries AGAIN!

I had this problem when I first got delivery of my X (12/16) but the fobs were updated with new firmware, new batteries were put in and all was OK. The problem has re-appeared one year later on one of the two key fobs. I have replaced 3 batteries so far and each time the battery voltage...

Can you up the mileage on an X lease one year later?

Thanks for the responses. If we end up driving 15K/year, we’ll be 9K miles over at $.25/mile which will cost $2,250 in overage fees at the end of the lease. Divided over the 36 month lease, that’s an extra $62.50/month. I have to find the original lease papers in my emails but I don’t think...

Can you up the mileage on an X lease one year later?

I’ve been leasing an SUV of one sort or another for my wife for the last 10-12 years and she’s always managed the mileage to within 12K miles per year. Last year, when our Mercedes GL450 lease expired, I convinced her to test drive the Model X and she’s been in love with the car ever since. So...

Mirrors won’t fold after modelXmas show..

Thanks for all the feedback. So it looks like this is a known problem and I can either wait for the next firmware update or call my SC to upload a fix. I need to fold the mirrors to get into my garage comfortably so I’m going to email my SC and see if they’ll fix it remotely, even though I’m...

Mirrors won’t fold after modelXmas show..

Played the modelXmas show for a friends young kids last night, and ever since then, neither of the mirrors will fold in. They don’t respond to the fold button (middle mirror button on door) and no longer auto-fold when I lock the car. They were definitely working during the Xmas show, but not...

    Paint coating and protection

Agreed. Only reason to apply a coating on a leased car is if you wash it yourself regularly. The glass coatings make washing and maintenance a lot easier.

17.7.2 - Why did Tesla release Local Autosteer vs...

I'm not sure about ending up with extra cash, but there have been plenty of members with AP1 cars who have offered to trade for an AP2 car because they are willing to wait for Tesla to catch up.

17.7.2 - Why did Tesla release Local Autosteer vs...

I would venture to say that the "doom and gloom" entered the equation with the introduction of local road Autosteer in this release.

17.7.2 - Why did Tesla release Local Autosteer vs...

So could Tesla have reduced the 'incentive' for these lawsuits by having released features in a different order? For example, would those AP2 owners who feel mis-led by Tesla be more content if release 17.7.2 had increased Autosteer on freeways to 60+ MPH (safely), and added auto-headlights...

17.7.2 - Why did Tesla release Local Autosteer vs...

I should have put "dangerous" in quotes because I'm personally not of the opinion that Autosteer on local roads is dangerous when used judiciously. I've been using it regularly and know its limitations. However, I don't think there is any argument that it's buggy....

17.7.2 - Why did Tesla release Local Autosteer vs...

With all the recent negative attention on safety and delays in releasing EAP functionality, I've been questioning the rationale at Tesla for choosing to release a dangerous and buggy version of Autosteer for local roads in Release 17.7.2 instead of these alternatives: - Increasing TACC speed...

    using a waxer

Canuck, I started using 22ple three years ago and swear by it too. Because it's a glass coating, it works especially well on white colored cars which are notoriously difficult to achieve that 'candied wet look'.

Sent letter asking for a refund for FSD paid feature

I'm not sure which part of NJ you live in but TACC should be available on every road, and Autosteer (50MPH) is available on all major Interstate highways including the Garden State, I-95, I-80, I-78, etc. I've been using Autosteer (35 MPH) on almost every local road in my neighboorhood with...

I can understand asking for a refund on FSD, but not sure how you are justifying it for AP given current functionality.

AP2 update 17.7.2 new Autopark and Local autosteer

I got the update on Saturday and installed it. Tried out local street Autosteer with half-decent results on the local roads in my neighborhood. Drove the same roads again on Sunday and today but I no longer get the Autosteer icon. It's as if my software went back to the previous version that...

    $650 for brake caliper paint?

I had my calipers plastidipped in bright red for $300 plus another $10 for the Tesla caliper decals from eBay.

    17.5.36 AP2

I've been waiting to receive this update but it looks like it is being released in a very limited way. The firmware upgrade tracker shows only 12 cars that have reported this upgrade so far. Let's hope Tesla is making improvements and planning a wider release.

Selling X back to Tesla - instead of taking delivery

What are you waiting for? I'd be on the phone to my sales manager before he changed his mind. Especially because you're having second thoughts on the car.

    17.5.28

Ever since I upgraded to this release, I have not been able to use Autosteer. I keep getting the "Autosteer temporarily unavailable" message. And it's happening on the same roads that I was using Autosteer on successfully with release 17.3.2. Has anyone else experienced this?

    17.5.28

Has anyone noticed any new roads being enabled for Autosteer in this release that weren't available in the last release?

    17.5.28

I didn't see any difference with the side collision warning either. Can someone who is familiar with AP1 describe what exact behavior we should expect from side collision warning? Is the image supposed to turn RED? Under what conditions?

Autosteer: will new roads be added without a S/W update?

There are multiple reports of Autosteer behavior on the same road improving over time. I have experienced the same. If Map updates are in fact coming in separately from firmware updates, it would be entirely possible to enable a new road for Autosteer via a Map update without having to resort...

Autosteer: will new roads be added without a S/W update?

My question is really comes down to how the Tesla artificial intelligence system implements new learning. Does it require a software update to get all the learned lessons from the servers back to all the vehicles, or is the learning iterative where a new road can be added on the fly? If anyone...

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

I had a similar experience yesterday when exiting an interstate onto a divided highway where Autosteer stayed engaged even though the divided highway was not previously enabled for Autosteer. It prompted this post: Autosteer: will new roads be added without a S/W update?

Autosteer: will new roads be added without a S/W update?

Since the release of Autosteer on HW2 with 17.3.2, has anyone experienced Autosteer becoming available on a road that was not previously available? Will non-freeway roads be enabled automatically as more driving data is gathered, or will we be waiting for another S/W update?

HW2: It's been a week. How many miles do you have on autosteer?

I find myself going out of my way to and from work to get onto the Garden State Hwy and paying tolls in rush hour just to experience Autosteer. I probably have 50 miles on Autosteer this week

EV Car/My Tesla - An Alexa skill for Amazon Echo / Tesla integration

I agree that setting up the Cloud9 server (or ngrok alternative) for Nikola can be a pain and not easy for folks without the right technical skills. A native AWS Lambda skill that sits in the cloud is definitely the way to go. Thanks for your work on this. I look forward to seeing the code on...

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

Are you sure about rolling out updates by service center? I'm in Northern NJ, use the Paramus service center, and received the update on Saturday at 4AM. I've seen at least 2 other members including you that presumably use the Paramus SC that haven't received their update yet.

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

I had the exact same experience on my last drive. Nice drive with TACC and AutosSteer working. Stopped at a convenience store and when I got back in the car, got the "Driver assistance features unavailable" message. Interestingly though, I was still able to use TACC minutes later without...

Autopilot for HW2 rolling out to all HW2 cars today!

Update arrived at 4AM in NJ. Downloaded, installed, and drive tested! Great stuff - the last time I experienced Autosteer or TACC was when I test drove the demo car in early November. Picked up my MX before Christmas with 2.0 hardware and all the fun features missing.
