Thinking of selling my S60 for a new long range S. Thoughts/questions...

Though sales are down, S and X still lead their class in market share, and still have better margins. Given that Tesla pre- announced plaid Powertrain and interior upgrades (Osborne effect), and space is needed for Y in Fremont, I could see them closing the S line for several quarters (and maybe...

This truck design had better be a joke....

Hmmm... a friend of mine just called and said he put down a deposit for this truck. He owns a farm and said the vehicle would be ideal for hauling equipment and supplies, especially useful with the ramp and cover, and serve as his primary vehicle for driving. He’s coming from a Hyundai SUV and...

This truck design had better be a joke....

Conceptually this truck has great features for towing, range, efficiency, power outlets, air compressor. Hardened metal (and glass?) seem as an attempt to play to a perceived “tough” mindset, but practically it’s hard to understand how many would care about that. The presentation of the broken...

Charging at Supercharger ignored charge limit

I’ve seen the charge increase a few percent while not being plugged in, presumably related to the outside temperature increasing.

    Holiday Easter Egg not working

There's one subtle detail I didn't notice until lots of trial and error, and perhaps you're running into the same: when you exit the car, do not use the key fob to close the driver door, otherwise the show will only go as far as rolling down the windows and stop; rather, press the outside driver...

    System restart while driving

I’ve had a restart happen on X once while driving, after ~30,000 miles, and happened after I was using an earlier version of the web browser that was somewhat flakey. For reference, my 2013 Ford Fusion restarted every ~500 miles where the screen indicated “performing scheduled maintenance” at...

Genius level IQ people. Explain what Tesla is doing!?!

Tesla doesn't seem a whole lot different than my drywall contractor with regards to pricing... Contractor: "If you want to add this room, we can do it for $800" Me: "No" Contractor: "It turns out we can do it for cheaper because we picked up another job nearby, so don't have to account for...

3% Price increase across the board

Finally, a rational move. Maybe there’s a method to this madness and these steps were planned all along. The net effect is they need to boost demand by having a sale timed with end of the quarter. Announcing an expiration (price increase) does exactly that. Now they could have taken a more...

Anybody else get the feeling we'll hear about more than the Model Y on the 14th?

While I certainly agree they need to do something to increase demand for S and X, the timing for that would make more sense in April (or July even). Announcing it with two more weeks to go in the quarter when deliveries are timed worldwide could result in cancellations and excess inventory to...

    New superchargers v3

This happens in cold weather, which I’ll assume since you’re in Montreal - charge rate might ramp to around 100kW, then back down to a lower rate - when below 0F, I’ve only gotten 40kW without any other car charging.

The new fantasy sales framework will fail

I’m not quite following how this is that much of a change, at least from my buying experience. I bought X at Minneapolis service center after test driving - completed transaction online using computer there (though easily could have done that from my phone). Then picked up vehicle there 3 months...

    Model S refresh "MI04"

It would seem most cars produced for the next few weeks would be U.S. only, new orders won’t go to other counties until Q2
  13. T

Tesla needs to refresh the Model S, asap.

For the S if they could increase range (especially for winter) and/or bring features up to parity with X - automatic doors, maybe sunroof available again, I’d buy one. Keep the exterior, seats, two screens (not a fan of the 3 screen having to shift focus off the road)
  14. T

Model S range and interior update imminent?

As 75D's make up a substantial portion of S/X sales, I can't imagine Tesla would decrease production by such a large amount. The only thing that makes sense is if they are able to sell more in specific markets for Q1 -- China comes to mind, as many may be jumping to purchase before end of Q1...

Would you still buy an X?

33,000 miles on March 2017 X100D. No issues whatsoever, still drives and looks like new. Can’t say that about any other new car we’ve ever bought.

Have you ever been stranded due supercharger failure?

On a road trip from Chicago to Minneapolis, I encountered a site (Mauston, WI) where none of the pedestals would charge more than a few minutes before aborting with some error. Basically had to add a few miles at a time (it would cut out after hitting 90kW or so), and took an hour to add enough...

Recommend to buy Model 3 in Minnesnowta? Or wait for probs to be fixed?

If parked outside, is there access to a charger while outside? In the cold of winter in Minnesota, range will be cut in half, charging time doubled. I wouldn’t get any EV in Minnesota climate without home or office charger, regardless of doors or windows freezing up. Super chargers and...

Disable auto-present door if plugged in?

What do people think about auto presenting door functionality? To me, they are super convenient when out and about, such as getting coffee while holding a toddler without any hands free. On the other hand, they are annoying when walking past in the garage while going outside or doing other...

When do you think the 2170 battery comes to MX and MS?

Seems that would also provide a clean break such that customers having the tax credit option would be less disappointed if missing out on features, such that price reductions to existing orders wouldn’t be expected. Similar to end of 2016 - loss of free supercharging and ventilated seats (as was...

When do you think the 2170 battery comes to MX and MS?

Even if the technology and production capacity were ready today for a longer range battery, it would seem they already have demand levers in place through the end of 2018 (for the U.S. anyways) - loss of the tax credit - even if only $3750 difference - its still psychological for people not...

I'm thinking of buying a Model X but have some questions...

Living dangerously! I’m so conditioned to cell phones suddenly dropping to nothing as they get low. Guess that doesn’t happen here, though I’ve never been in a safe location to confirm for myself :)

I'm thinking of buying a Model X but have some questions...

Yes - Midnight Silver Metallic. I figured 8 trips per year, 220 miles away, going 75mph where it would take me an extra hour of charging each way with 75D, whereas the 100D has enough to make it without stopping, in the summer anyways. That said, I usually stop anyways for 15 mins or so, as...

I'm thinking of buying a Model X but have some questions...

Winter: no issues, then again, i've avoided bad weather conditions, and rarely park outside overnight, so haven't been put in the position of frozen windows or doors. A few recommendations - if high winds, do not open windows -- they can pop out. When it's very cold (-20F) and driving long...

    Supercharger - Bethany, MO

This is a bummer - without this link, it’s not possible to go north/south (e.g. from Minnesota to Texas) in the cold of winter (without going super slow or out of the way), even with X100D charged to 100%. Not gonna replace second car with Tesla until there’s a link. I don’t quite understand...

    Firmware 9.0 Features Wishlist!

Face recognition from side cameras to allow unlock of door without key - useful when going to pool/beach, which is now the only place we don’t take Tesla because of this (use Ford Fusion instead, with keypad entry)

    Tesla Space Heater?

The cabin heater alone seemed to help somewhat, though it seems getting the battery cooling in a runaway loop is what caused rapid increase in temperature (the more heat ejected from the car, the hotter it gets, and the cooling mechanism runs harder and harder in a positive feedback loop). I...

    Tesla Space Heater?

So the temperature has been around -20F for most of the last few days, and our Tesla X100D is parked in an attached garage with pipes in the ceiling overhead that have had issues freezing in the past. On Sunday night around 10pm, with the garage temperature approaching freezing, we rolled down...

    Sudden Increase in Consumption Rate

This will be my first winter with the X, and I've also noticed increased battery consumption in the past few weeks while it has gotten colder around the freezing point. We also have a Ford Fusion plug-in, that gets about 25 electric miles in summer, and about 12 miles in winter -- and that's...

Oh well, a green X100D is still a unicorn.

    100D Buyers/Owners

Wow, wonder what the cutoff was. I originally ordered X75D on dec 26, 2016, then paid change fee to switch to X100D. For me, mytesla now says free supercharging but no transferability. No intention of selling any time soon, so I'm happy either way.

    Model X March 2017 Deliveries

Here she is... this car looks and drives perfectly. Much better in person than on the Internet. No issues that I could observe. Auto-presenting drivers door and key fob took a few iterations to figure out, but think I understand how it works now.

Just upgrade MX 90D to sport mode for 10K!! 0-60 in 4.2 Secs!!WOW

Haven't you heard? All Teslas now come with 3D printer technology installed such that motors or any other hardware can be replaced via software upgrade. [The website shows P models as having a bigger motor in the back, unless that has changed that anyone can confirm.]

Talk me into 100A wiring vs 50A wiring

If you have mice enter your garage (who get into a wall and may be seeking heat from a warm wire, then chew on cables to make enough room to move between studs), romex without conduit for 50A+ could be a fire concern. You could put conduit outside of the wall/ceiling and box around it for a more...

Talk me into 100A wiring vs 50A wiring

If your house and electrical usage is "typical", I would be skeptical if 200A service would be sufficient for much more than charging with a single 50A connection. Consider continuous loads simultaneously: A/C: 40A + AHU 20A + Oven 30A + Stove 30A + Dryer 30A + Washer 20A = 170A -- 80% of that...

    Has anyone received a 100D?

<Conjecture> If the 100D battery is the same as that in the P100D, then Tesla should have been able to produce initial vehicles at the same time as P100D, well in time for EPA approval. It wouldn't have needed to be a secret either, as they announced there would eventually be a 100D back then...

Do I Need to Upgrade Electrical Panel?

Given the issue with that circuit panel others have mentioned, I wouldn't risk adding any continuous load to it - either replace it or run a new separate meter and panel. As a point of reference, I have a 4br house built in 1983, 200A, nothing unusual, where adding 40A charger wasn't an issue...
  42. T

Do I Need to Upgrade Electrical Panel?

Breaker space wouldn't seem to be an issue, you can use minis on the right side. I'd be more concerned about your load exceeding 200A - looks like at least 100A continuous load (a/c, water heater, refrigerators). Other circuits really depend on usage - if lights are led, then those circuits...

    Model X March 2017 Deliveries

X100D on order - overnight, the website flipped to "Your Tesla is currently in production." Still says March - Early April. 12/26: Ordered X75D 1/2: Confirmed 1/22: VIN assigned, 39xxx 2/1: upgraded to X100D and 72A charger, losing unlimited supercharging and ventilated seats 2/3: credit card...

Anyone regret getting an X over an S?

G77P, do you have your 3yo in car seat in third row or second row? We have 2yo who will press any button or place her fingers anywhere we say no, such as refrigerator door, and this is a major concern. When seated, can your kid reach anywhere in danger of wing doors? I'd prefer not to put kids...

How much more damage will Remarketing do to Tesla sales before they figure it out?!?

I couldn't disagree more. More customers or more revenue per customer does not mean more profit; often the reverse happens if a business isn't able to scale. Margin is what matters.
  46. T

How much more damage will Remarketing do to Tesla sales before they figure it out?!?

I would think there would always be a large price difference between what a dealer offers and resells -- especially for cars over $100k. To afford such car in the first place, a buyer likely bills north of $400/hr, and estimating 20 hours of time to sell that car, that's $8000 right there, not...

How to turn on ambient interior lighting without the Premium Upgrades Package

Interesting. Is there anything physically different anymore in the PUP? Seems it all could be upgraded after purchase now if it's just software settings and accessories.

    100D Order Updates?

Mine finally flipped from 75D to 100D today; credit card was charged two weeks ago for change. Same VIN 39xxx, 6 seats, midnight silver, all physical upgrades, not yet in production.

    100D Buyers/Owners

Another data point... X100D, midnight silver metallic, white interior, 6-seat, PUP, sound, 72A charger, weather, towing (no autopilot for now) March - Early April delivery 12/26: Ordered X75D 1/2: Confirmed 1/22: VIN assigned, 39xxx 2/1: upgraded to X100D and 72A charger, losing unlimited...
