Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Oh wow! That's way-way less involved than we thought! Factory reset will remove your phone stuff, your individual driver settings, Home Link......all of it then? Sounds easy-peasy! Thanks!
Not sure if this is the place to post this?? Please advise if I should be posting elsewhere - thanks!
Hubby and I are going down to one vehicle, one Tesla. After a "heated discussion," we've decided to keep our 2014 MS (multiple reasons!) and part with our 2018 M3. As post title says, we're...
To clarify, per initial topic posting -
".....my personal phone is turned off and stowed away in the car. As such, I have no access to the onboard controls from the app while at work. I have to use my key card to lock/unlock the car when I come/go.":)
Wow! As always here on TMC, what a great group of informed owners!
We have a 2014 MS (still love it!) and have had our DM M3 for going-on 2 yrs now, and this is the first time we've run into a "hot car" issue!
If anyone's interested in an information swap, we're extremely well versed in...
Got it! General consensus is to......Turn on Heat Protection! And maybe add a sunshade for the windshield.
Definitely NOT complaining about our ONE 85 degree day......just seeking a solution to an inconvenience (not a problem!). Thanks a million for your helpful instruction!
So the temp gauge hit 85 degrees here in the Pacific Northwest here this week......a virtual heatwave!......(pausing here while we wait for the desert dwellers to stop laughing :-) ).........
While at work, my M3 is parked outdoors, in full sun. I work in a high security facility, so my...
Haha!
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. Glad to know that I'm not the only one experiencing this fun.
Incline - no incline to driveway, but I AM standing one step up at the front of the car on the house/garage door stoop. Doubt that's it?
Wifi - Have not tried disconnecting my phone...
Again.....seeking CONSTRUCTIVE help and positive input. Preferably from someone with some real life experiences extending back more than a week or 2 - ha!
So every morning, 5:30am, is a roll of the dice using Summon to back our 2018 M3 out of the garage. It's a snug fit, nestled next to our 2014 MS (we're not Tesla "newbies"). Every day I open the garage. Every day I open my Tesla app. Every day I tap on Summon. EVERY DAY I place my...
Just searched out my "official" order date - 7/4/18. In the immortal words of Maxwell Smart......"just missed it by that much!"
Never mind that we reserved 4/2016, waited 2+ YEARS, had to defer original config "invite" to obtain DM.....
It is what it is......so close!
One more question......
Under Features -
What music & media are available with Standard Connectivity?
"Premium Connectivity is required for In-car streaming music & media over cellular"
Just looking for some simple clarification here.....this reads to me like I will NOT be able to stream...
Well shoot. That stinks. 2+ years of waiting. Deferred 1st config invite to wait even longer for DM to come available.
Off to drown my disappointment in more caffeine......:-)
Just woke up to this email as well.....maybe it's the lack of sufficient morning coffee, but I found it a bit confusing......????
Under "Will there be a trial period for Premium Connectivity?" it reads:
For all Model S, Model X and Model 3 with Premium Interior ordered on or after July 1, 2018...
No screen issues *that we know of*. We have only had the screen garble at the supercharger twice, and both times easily fixed with a reboot. Have not had the "yellow line" issue that others have seen (knock on wood). Just being a Nervous Nelly, having read so much here about screen issues on...
Thanks for the tips!
Yeah, our service center is in SoDo Seattle. Appointments are a couple months out. Getting ready to make appt now for November’ish....
Glad to know that there’s a grace period if anything pops up after warranty date - thanks!
Is there anything that I forgot on my...
When we purchased our CPO 2014 MS P85, we negotiated 3 years of warranty service (ahhh....those were the days, right?), and an LTE upgrade. Fast forward to now, and we're getting ready to make an appointment for our last.....covered..... service...... Making a "kitchen sink" list of...
Since it sounds like most dog owners have plastered the inside of their cars with "my dog is safe" signs......what about getting one of those suction cup thermometers that stick on the window to display the temp? It might read a little warm due to being attached to the glass, but it would still...
With this new update our M3 regularly flips out on some planter islands in the middle of a neighborhood street in our area. Ugh.....
Makes us love-love-love our 2014 NON-AP P85 with eternally free supercharging even more....... sometimes less is more......:-)
Thanks for the tips Beaver! Never a dull moment......ha!
Seems to be happening without a resolution here......We'll be driving down the road, well into our trip, when we realize that the radio's not making any sound. It's usually at that point that we realize that it hasn't been...
Similar issues here.....Radio is now muted e-v-uh-r-y......s-i-n-g-l-e.....t-i-m-e.....I get into the car. A single bump on the scroll button or a touch to the screen brings back audio. We've done several double scroll reboots, but it has effected no change or correction.
Ugh.....Some days...
Thanks all! Glad to know that it's a fleet-wide "real" thing, and not just me. Guess I'll just hang out with all my Model 3 peeps and see what Tesla sends over the airwaves as a fix.
This forum is awesome! Thanks!
Did a quick search and didn't find any info on this, so posting to check in with my Tesla "think tank!".....
We have a DM M3, picked up in Sept. About a week ago, the screen went black but the car operated fine. I pulled into a parking lot, assessed the situation (me: "wtf?!?!"), did a...
Just surprisingly had the complete opposite experience here in the Pacific NW!
We needed some minor warranty attention to our new AWD M3 and also had an outstanding airbag recall for our 2014 P85. Received text that our service qualified for a mobile mechanic...
Another vote for NEVER parting with our 2014 P85 non-autopilot, free supercharging ride for sparkle & glitz. :p
On a side note......got stuck *having* to Supercharge our DM M3 this past weekend (my bad, forgot to charge up!). Had brief heart failure when I saw that we were accruing fees on...
Quite the opposite experience here in NW corner of WA State! We have a 2014 P85 (and now also a 2018 DM M3). My mom has taken to referring to our MS as our puppy! People still approach us all the time and want to "pet" it and ask us about the car. Lately we've had some questions about BS...
Ahhh....a KNOWN issue! Thanks for the tip Jan! I love this forum! Now that we're home and back to our "same ol'" charge-at-home-at-night routine, it's not really a concern. Will jot down for the next road trip though. Do you know of any (hopefully) permanent fixes coming for us "oldies"?
Apologies if this "dog"/topic has been beat to death already...... didn't see it in a search.....!
The screen experience on our 2014 P85 was updated back in Sept along with everyone else. In Dec we did our first "road trip" since the update, just from Seattle to Portland. Stopped midway at...
Not sure.....We have a 2014 P85 and don't notice anything except for regen brakes occasionally. The loaner is a 2018 75 and we hear the motor whine much more distinctly (accel/decel/regen) in that. Again, not sure if it's the age/progression of Tesla's build (less insulation?? different...
Good morning all! - Just checking back in with an update on our M3 motor whine.......Took it in to SODO Seattle service center last week. Did a ride along with a super nice gentleman who heard the motor whine, but did not indicate if he thought it was within specs or not. Told me he would take...
Two small peeves here -
- being "height challenged," wish that rear trunk closed automatically like on our MS, or that there was an option to add a short strap to grab & pull it down :-) (now there's an aftermarket idea for a creative someone!)
- purchased as a second car (to our MS). Don't...
@RandyS & everyone else - Thanks for sharing your first hand knowledge on this! It sounds like it’s probably “just” an idiosyncrasy that we’ll need to adjust to. I’m making a service appt anyways for a couple of other items (crummy touch-up paint, and wonky bent hubcap we can’t get seated...
So after 2 1/2 years of waiting, we (like tons of others on here) picked up our DM M3 yesterday. Can't help but compare it to our existing MS and have a question......
When driving in the 3, completely silent, with the radio off, we hear a high pitched whine that goes higher when pressing on...
@Tifighter - Woohoo for a smooth SODO pickup! We're walking onto the Bremerton-Seattle ferry today and walking up to SODO for 2:30 pickup. Fingers crossed!! Were there any of the Northwest Tesla Owners Club volunteers there assisting?
@R1Fast - yeah, totally feel your pain there. We endured our major drama with the first one, so going into this one with open eyes. Wouldn't be doing it at all if we didn't la-la-love our MS. Our "theory" on their processes is that they're a company run by awesome geeks and are lacking on...
Looking at obtaining new personalized plates for our M3 (hoping to pickup 9/29) in WA State. Went down to the DOL today with my (expected) VIN information, and they told me that Tesla handles the registration at purchase and we have to fill out a form and snail mail to to Olympia to apply for...
Throwing our info into the mix - 2nd bout of Tesla drama for us.....
- 4/1/16 - Reservation
- 5/1718 - Deferred 1st invite to config, holding out for DM
- 7/4/2018 - Ordered DM
- 9/19/18 - Email to schedule pickup (no VIN# yet) - 9/29 "in the afternoon."
- 9/25/18 - Text to schedule...
Not sure if it's already been suggested, but......
Option to have only the FRONT TWO door handles pop out on approach. Current option is "Driver" (single door handle) or "All" (all 4 door handles). For those of us who no longer need the back doors unlocked...... :-)
+1 here. Glad to know it's not just an "us" issue...had it happen once before and it resolved itself after a couple days. This time it's been "stuck" for almost a week.
..
I stand corrected on the dual motor availability date :-) Yeah.....we debated for days on the decision when we received our first invite (back in May, I think??) to configure the M3, but ultimately decided to defer our reservation in favor of the dual motor.
@tivoboy - Trying not to make it about the $$, but about the value of the SERVICE (or lack there of) being provided for the $$......but yeah, I've got to agree with you!
@RTPEV - Augh!! Yeah, our RESERVATION date was 4/1/16. Just looked and our official ORDER email is dated 7/4/18. SO CLOSE to the 6/30/18 deadline..... But I don't think that the DM was even offered until after the 6/30 date. We'll see what happens on D-day......
@RTPEV - Re: why not use phone & bluetooth......we're of a "certain age" and just not that cool  (Read: no longer have a 20-something at home to set it up and walk us through it ;) ) Open to a For Dummies tutorial, though!
@Chak - Thanks a million for this info! Sounds like we're "in" on the lifetime option - whew! Yeah, we ordered on 4/1 with (most of) the rest of you and deferred our initial invite to obtain the dual motor. Now hoping that it's a step way-way up from our P85 service. If so, we'll probably...
Just received our notice that after almost 2 1/2 years of waiting, our DM M3 will be ready - yay! And now we're ready to get into the nitty-gritty details of ownership.......we're not concerned about not having unlimited Supercharging, as this will be a 2nd car and will be charging 99%-100% of...
@mspohr & @Jeff65 - Not to hijack this thread, but slightly off-topic.......since we have a CPO 2014 P85 just turning 35k mi.....wondering about the resolved problems/issues discussed here since we have no history prior to our ownership (we were *told* that it was an in-house Tesla loaner)...
Hahahaha!!! Maybe we could get some of those post-it page markers, line them up like fringe across the dash, and watch them blow in the vent breeze.
Off topic....but @wdolson - We did a tent camp trip w/some Tesla owners & other EVs this summer to Salt Spring Island, BC (Google it). Fun...
