Yes, I've experienced the same - red steering wheel warning when signal light is yellow. Driving a Dec 2016 MS with HW 2.0 MCU1 and FSD. I thought it was great to have another step toward FSD.
OK, not a dumb question but uninformed information. I was telling people how much oil EVs save (it was on the video at the SC). Guy pipes up 'Those don't save any oil due to the amount of oil used to make electricity.' I needed to look it up (didn't know how to use Google yet). Only .5% of all...
Got 20.4.2. From the release notes, I certainly hope dog mode and the Arcade are perfected soon. I'd like to see some FSD/AP features updated. 2016 75D Model S, MCU1, AP 2.0. My AP has not improved lately.
I disagree that it is driver inattention. I'd be willing to put money on inattention by pedestrians. The OP (page 1, 2008) had an interesting thought about a program to teach pedestrians to look both ways - gee, if they had only gone to kindergarten. And then there is the all important cell...
Sorry to hear about those high rates. LA/Ventura area, 1 Tesla, all electric home. I tried TOU for a couple of months. The lowest rate was .16 at night. I went back to Tier and tier 1 is .17. T2 is .25. Top rate with TOU was .45 (2-6 PM). You are right, that time of the day still costs the most...
I couldn't read through all of the posts but - in CA it is the law to be aware of emergency situations and to move away from them. Emergencies don't suddenly appear, unless they are just arriving. Still, you can see a firetruck in front of you over all the cars if that's the case. Being on that...
Top 10 for me:
1. More room - had a 2 cuft. trunk
2. Range - plenty for now
3. Super charger network
4. Cool factor
5. All electric - didn't even fully comprehend this until first passenger asked
At ordering and test drive
6. Affordable - it's my money, etc.
7. TACC, AS and future FSD
8. FAST...
Hey, I'm 70. 2016 AP2. I find all this fun, exciting, scary. A very new learning experience for me and my new child (MS). But most folks here 70(+) don't want a self driving car because they are 'above average' drivers, according to them..
I had a limited test drive. Autosteer works on local roads above 35, but for me it was much scarier than on highways (but that's me. Still in a learning curve with AP). Didn't trust it to take a very tight curve, mainly because of traffic. Mine would not change lanes on local roads. It has been...
No time to go through this whole thread but I'm wondering if degraded mode is due to charging to 100% every time. I got a warning about possible battery degradation the first time I charged to 100% and left it plugged in (240 volt at home). I set it to 80-90% and no more warning.
I disagree. I have some experience over a very controlled environment, my home driving at Leisure Village. With the 17.9.3 update, on 25 mph main streets, lines on both sides were too far apart for center AS. So, I let it follow either the double yellow center line or the bike lane line (when...
It's like losing attention because the car is driving itself so smoothly. Like (almost)
falling asleep but with eyes wide open awake. Used to happen on long road trips, usually on long flat two lane stretches.
8.1 17.11.3 is working great. I was able to summon from the garage with help from this thread. Increased autosteer speeds on highway/freeway worked really well. Finally found some traffic I could even test <55 mph. But +55 was very stable. No truck lust. No wavy lanes. Lane change worked really...

D/L 17.7.2 last night. Bypassed 17.5.36 for some reason. But when I drove it AS35 showed up. Was able to test that extensively. Sometimes it veers left or right when there are line breaks, sometimes not. It's learning. It tried to go into right turn lanes as...

Opps, took one for the team today. 80 in a 65 ticket. Darn TACC - I was just following other traffic. I suppose I didn't see the CHiP when I entered the freeway very quickly.
It sounds like you don't have a Tesla to drive right now. Yes, a new one won't have the capabilities of the old AP1 but from this thread and others, it seems more driven miles are needed to help the AI neural network 1) learn to create more code, 2) update for the benefit of the fleet. No miles...
Thanks. No, that's not it. I had that but it was fixed. They unfold all the way. They just won't go any further within the shell. I'm still getting used to it because the width/range of view is different from the ICE I traded in, which was really excellent in this respect.
Hmmm, I know about adjusting side view mirrors that way but the Tesla mirrors don't adjust that far out with the in car controllers. Do I have to push them out manually?
Happy delivery story. I did order an inventory 2016 S75D with 90% of what I would have custom ordered. Came with the SWP that I thought I didn't need, but my girlfriend likes the heated seat, so, OK, I was salivating after driving my friend's and the test drive with AP1. Down payment on Sat...
Got update 250.185 on 12/31. Cameras were calibrating since, until yesterday, 1/12. Got update 250.201. Cameras calibrated after about 20 miles. TACC working. Couldn't find slow enough traffic on the freeway to test Autosteer. I was just thinking the cameras calibrated because it was sunny today...
I did have this problem when I got my 2016 S on Dec. 10. Waited about a week and called SC. They sent a Ranger to my home to fix it (SC is about 55 miles up the coast in Santa Barbara). He took the mirror off and fixed it. Works fine now.
