Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Do you have any concrete reasons to believe that? (Despite many thinking lidar is necessary) Do you watch the recent videos on autopilot on youtube? Progress is really impressive. I like for example the channel Tesla Driver.
Good point. When did Elon say this? I just started watching Tesla...
@avoigt Hi just saw that you are from germany too. Do you know any possibility to buy the Tesla convertible Bonds? I think those have awesome value as the assets of Tesla are worth far more as the debt in my opinion.
what do you guys think is the main substantial reason for this panic?
maybe something like: we'll have a tradewar -> bad for consumer sentiment, supply chain disruptions, increasing prices -> less demand in economy overall, layoffs, some companies default -> we'll have a recession -> there are...
the battle at current price levels is still not lost and big buyers already are showing up. the volume is crazy.
Edit: By the way we already almost reached $180 yesterday in Frankfurth. It went up a lot since then.
I agree with everything you say. Mr. Market could be hated or loved. I for my part love this irrational behavior as i was able to buy more shares at a lower price. Right now i also have some interest in a rising price as i couldn't resist to buy leaps but this is only a very very small...
Dropbox - TSLA-Morgan Stanley call-5-22-19.MP3 - Simplify your life
just heard the call. I think it's very interesting as it is the first time for me i heard a call like this.
Do you know where exactly it was posted and who posted it?
Do you know if there is more stuff like this (also research...
i am also an investor in VW. They have a lot of debt from their financial services department but they also have the corresponding lease and buyer loan assets. It is dangerous because those assets could depreciate esp. in the event of autonomous vehicles but it is not the same.
what is the other format?
Edit: Is there any solid very credible confirmation?
As i understand it someone postet that in a forum and other users "confirmed" it. Also some user who supposedly worked for tesla no proof at all. For a big seller coming up with a little scheme like that could make...
this could be a potential indicator that it isn't real, am i wrong? when i would be a large institutional investor looking to sell a large portion of my holding i could consider spreading false information first to have more buyers...
Does this mean it is generally not possible to buy those bonds? (or do you have to use the right broker) My bank offers the 2025 notes and interactive brokers says you can buy the 2025 ones, but the other bonds are for qualified institutional investors only... I am specifically interested in the...
Does anyone know what exactly Elon meant by: "Would create special purpose fund enabling anyone to stay with Tesla. Already do this with Fidelity’s SpaceX investment."
Would love to invest in SpaceX but found only Fidelity funds which have about 1% SpaceX in their portfolio. Is there a way to...
I'm not a pro neither but i would say:
- The strike price of the first option is very low therefore this option acts a lot like a share. I would prefer owning shares over this option especially in this situation because i don't know how smooth things go with the HSBC if Tesla is taken privat...
agree. bought some short term options this morning after the 7k announcement + 1gwh project and added more when the production numbers came out. everything was very positive in my opinion and i really thought a short squeeze could begin.
just trying to understand where they get this "factory...
there was a lot of negativ media coverage and a lot of people are saying that Tesla didn't really produce 7k cars this week because in the recent email to Employees EM didn't say "produced" but factory gated, which means 7k cars left the factory but could be preproduced (from my initial...
that's very helpful. Just for my understanding: So he got 51,000 options to buy shares at $342? if exercised and sold at e.g. $357 would give him a profit of $765,000 and he will get 36 times as many? I don't mind directors getting millions during the next 3 years. Almost panicked a bit because...
do you understand this:
(1) This stock option award is a triennial equity award granted pursuant to the Company's 2010 Equity Incentive Plan and Outside Director Compensation Policy. 1/36th of the shares granted shall become vested and exercisable as of each monthly anniversary beginning on...
I'm not a driver (student in city center, no need for a car and prefer investing money), so i don't know but are the braking news actually THAT bad? It's a difference of 20ft at a specific speed (60MPH), for SOME cars at SOME runs. Like it's not always 20ft less but only in very specific...
thx. does anyone of you guys takes Spiegel seriously? I followed him 2 years ago but unfollowed him later because i thought he was just talking crap and couldn't possibly taken seriously. can anyone share the link anyway?
calling it a fact has been premature because of the possibility that the updated timeline simply means nothing. (other than encouragement to place a reservation)
Elon just said that Tesla needs 3-6 months after reaching 5k/wk to ship 35k.
Even if we reach 5k in a month and Tesla starts...
for the LR, rear wheel drive option the range of possibilities is not thaat wide. The new timeline suggests that Tesla think they will get 60,000 (4 month, weak production - worst case)- 130,000 (6month, strong production - best case) orders from existing US reservation holders.
besides a shift in strategy to highly prioritize US costumers another very simple explanation could be that long delivery times scare potential new costumers to make a reservation and Tesla wants to change that + have a longer line of costumers just in case conversions are not so good. And of...
I guess it's very bad news.
How could anyone without a reservation possibly get a standard battery car within 6 month??? From my understanding production capacity is quite fixed at 5k/wk for the time being. Even if we would produce an average of 5k/wk starting from now and all deliveries go to...
good point. it's a short term measure. What's new is that it's now also on electrek and this forum (At least i haven't seen it on this scale before). Wouldn't be surprised if those guys aren't really shorts but instead on the payroll of a big short. Would make a ton of sense for a big short...
i personally think it's kind of strange how many short sellers are lately in this forum and how many short comments we lately see on sites like electrek. i don't mind hearing the opinions of short sellers if they are somewhat sophisticated. But stuff like "If other, well functioning companies...
i always get a little bit nervous when i see something like this and don't know what's going on. (for my trading/shortterm stuff) could be bad news i don't know yet. learning that it is just a planned shutdown is actually good.
is there a way to access the original spreadsheet? i am most interested in deliveries reported every day over a longer period of time. was possible with the spreadsheet. thx.
Edit: Found it. Thx for the great work!
for sure. he couldn't have done it the other way round. All in all he wants clearly give investors and employees (who hold options) confidence with both moves.
i guess it's going to be seen as either confident or desperate. longs are going to buy because of this and shorts are going to increase their short position. no idea if it's going to be a net positive or net negative for the stock market in the coming days.
i think they crossed 5% slightly early 2017 to report their position and since then sold a few shares to stay right under 5%. In the most recent filing where you can see this information "Definitive Proxy Statement" as of 26. April they are not listed as a 5% holder. I was wondering at this time...
most shorts are pretty convinced the same as longs are. They are willing to pay interest and double down on their investment (just by holding if prices rise) unlike there are truly great news. Hitting 5k a week by the end of june would be such news but i don't think the probability of this...
as a ceo Elon needs to uphold the moral of employees (most important) and investors (somewhat important). People having trust, confidence and motivation is a very important part of every business. Therefore the probability of an actual short squeeze is in my opinion much lower maybe Elon thinks...
thx guys for all the feedback. I especially liked @JRP3 comments about different types of geniuses. Never thought about it but it is true those geniuses who get crazy are mostly in the theoretical/aesthetic space like e.g. philosophers, theoretical physicists, artists.
It's rare for a...
thx do you remember which calls? I vaguely remember maybe Q3 2016 when sentiment was also bad.
i don't care so much about the headlines and would even like to see the SP drop so i can buy more cheaply but of course only as long as i can stay confident. (i guess i still am)
may biggest longterm...
