Best Trunk-Mount Bicycle Rack for Model Y?

I was talking about the front edge of the hatch - the glass protrudes slightly forward of the metal, so if you hook straps anywhere where there's glass, you're hooking on the glass itself. But I see that you attached your straps waayy out on the side of your hatch - on either side of the glass...

Best Trunk-Mount Bicycle Rack for Model Y?

I don't have a hitch, so I don't have trailer mode - I wish I did. Basically the system beeps like crazy when going in reverse, but is quiet when going forward. Since I tend to drive that way most of the time ;) it's not an issue.

Best Trunk-Mount Bicycle Rack for Model Y?

Like you, I'd like to find a trunk-mount bike rack for the Model Y, but after looking closely at the Y's back hatch, I don't think we'll be able to find one - here's why: If you look closely at the front lip of the hatch, you'll see that the glass portrudes beyond any metal: What this means...

Supercharger - Simi Valley, CA - Tierra Rejada Rd. (LIVE 22 Sep 2020, 12 V3 stalls)

Did I miss a Tesla announcement of Supercharger fee increases? This Tesla webpage says that all US per-kWh stations are $0.28/kWh, but the image above shows $0.32/kWh for the Simi Supercharger. If there was an announcement, can someone link to it? I know that last year they bumped the rate to...

Bike rack and back up sensors

I completely concur that if you can justify the investment in a hitch + hike mount rack, that's the better option. For me, I'm an occasional rider, so I can't. What I CAN say is that over the course of 7+ years and probably 300+ mountings and dismountings of the Allen Sports compact trunk rack...

Bike rack and back up sensors

Also, I can tell you that if you have a lightweight bike (< 30 lbs or so), the Allen Sports Ultra Compact trunk rack will also work. I've had this one for about 8 years on a Nissan LEAF, and I only had to adjust the straps to get a snug fit on the Model 3. Note that I just put it on to test...

Bike rack and back up sensors

Here's a couple of pics that somebody posted of an Allen Sports 2-bike rack on a Model 3. I suspect it was the Deluxe 2-bike rack. Note that Allen Sports does not list this rack as being compatible with the Model 3, so caveat emptor.

    Teslascope.. (alternative to TeslaFi)

I just signed up for Teslascope and am very impressed with its features and functionality - good job! Also, it's good to know that you're paying so much attention to security. I haven't had a chance to go for a drive since signing up, but a couple of things that the developers might find...

    Confirming Delivery Performance Model Y

Those of you getting the e-mails - as you get further through the process, can you let us know if you're able to add any accessories that we've been told we SHOULD be able to add on, such as a roof rack or tow hitch? And if there are any others that you can add on (like maybe air suspension -...

    Supercharger - Quartzsite, AZ

I was there on Sunday - from what I can tell, 4 of the "urban" chargers on skids were connected (using the power cables from the 2 temp urban chargers and 2 temp Superchargers that had been there for some months); the other 4 chargers (on two skids) were not yet connected to power. Alas, the...

Cracking sound coming from Aero wheel covers

Yes, definitely noticed it. Sounds like rocks in the tread hitting concrete (or perhaps behind the wheel covers), but it's not. Likely an artifact of the attachment system. Given the number of people who hear it, it's not unique to any one vehicle (and likely not to a particular "batch" of...

Mine: Moto G5+, Android 7.0 - works for about 1-2 hours after a reboot, then goes to "Disconnected" state and will not reconnect without a full reboot of the phone. No amount of cycling Bluetooth, Airplane mode, etc. will bring it back. Have already ensured that the Tesla app is not set for...

    Auto lane change not working

One thing that tripped me up is that the Auto Lane Change setting is a per-profile setting. I set up a profile for my daughter and then couldn't figure out why auto lane change wasn't working for her - until I checked the settings and found it turned off. D'oohh!

Poll: Model 3 Phone Key Failure Rate

My phone has had about a 2% success rate (Moto G5+, Android 7.0). Specifically, if I reboot the phone, it connects for an hour or two. Once it disconnects, nothing works to get it to reconnect but rebooting the phone. Specifically, turning Bluetooth off and on does not good whatsoever. So...

@supernoman - Thanks for that. I'll be taking mine in for evaluation as well, based on your comments. Can you provide one last update when you get your car back to let us know whether the issue was resolved with the new glass? Thanks!

    Anyone else with glass defect?

Yes - I have exactly the same issue. VIN 13xxx, manufactured in early April. It's particularly evident around the bottom middle of the glass and seems to be related to the placement of the heater lines - as though their placement caused the glass to cure unevenly. Looking at car headlights...

Who to contact at Tesla if at least 2 later reservations...

Who to contact at Tesla if at least 2 later reservations...

Is your reservation for the same color and wheel size as either of the other two? Apparently invites are going out based on those two criteria rather than strict line order, due to the fact that they're building Model 3s in batches (100-200 of a particular color & wheel size, then 100-200 of...

    Psych!

It seems like a good idea until you think about the fact that many (most?) of the problems with early Model S cars were motor-related and many motors (drive units?) were replaced under warranty. Personally, I'd take these numbers with a HUGE grain of salt. I suspect that many (most?) of the entries in that database were added within a month of the reveal on 03/31/16 and likely haven't ever been updated. So they represent what people desired at reveal time, before Tesla made its...

@Ulmo - did you happen to get a pic of the VIN of the Model 3? Just curious if it's an RC unit or a recent build. I think I heard it's got the fabric headliner, so that would indicate a recent build (or a retrofit). Thanks!

burbank airport log term lot being used for staging model x?

To update this thread, the Teslas have been moved from Burbank Airport Lot C to a private lot on the west side of Hollywood Way at Tulare Ave. The good news is that out of about 100 total Teslas onsite, there were probably 20 or so Model 3s. Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

From what others have commented, the Model 3 battery pack isn't designed for quick swapping (it's more integrated into the chassis), which is why I don't think it's an item that can be swapped at delivery time. From everything I've read, the pack is identical (externally) between the two - just...

Lightweight trailers a Model 3 might be able to tow

My $0.02 on this subject: I think the only model of Model 3 that might be factory-certified for a tow hitch will be the dual-motor, possibly with Smart Air Suspension (SAS). I'd bet that even that option will have a towing limit of around 1,500-2,000 lbs. Because almost any travel trailer is...

    VIN Assignment

Or to be more specific, VINs are assigned to buyers after the cars are built (and just a few days prior to delivery). And for folks paying cash, the VIN doesn't need to be assigned to them prior to delivery. Moral: just pay cash!

Initial SR Model Production to ONLY include base interior

Personally, I think this reinforces the "build in batches, then assign VIN" theory. This allows them to build SR Model 3s as fast as they can, with the only options being small changes that can be done in the last day or two prior to delivery (such as wheels). Every "big, built-in" option...

Agree. Don't dump your reservation (unless you really need the cash) - just hold onto it until you can drive one with the options you really want and then make the decision of Model S or Model 3. I'm sure neither will disappoint. Oh, that I had this dilemma...(crawls back under rock to keep...

?? Your post says "non owner", yet your signature says "Model 3 75D (SOLD)". Did you have the 75D when you reserved (or at some point after) so that Tesla might have bumped your priority based on that? If not, then you're the first non-employee, non-owner that I've seen. In any case...

    Model 3 Color Idea

If Tesla can't financially justify adding more paint color options, it would be nice if they could contract with some local (to the factory) wrap installers to provide wraps at a discount, say $2,000 - $3,000, to be installed before customer delivery. They could satisfy a large number people...
