Rats. Driving through the area Thursday. Thanks for keeping an eye on things, guys!

    Supercharger - Emporia, KS

Thanks for posting this information! I’m driving from Minnesota to Austin in my S60 in early January. It would be 100 miles helpful (each way) for it to be done by then! Fingers crossed.

    2017 Model S60D - annoyances

I was very much on the fence about buying this car, and, as I said, one incentive was that I *could* make full-use of this battery. I had no idea they would be after me to upgrade or connect to WiFi every day. (I had also informed dealer I wouldn’t be able to use WiFi, “no problem.”) Don’t they...

    2017 Model S60D - annoyances

You’re right, it’s not every time, I was including messages about hooking up to a wi-fi network which also happens pretty often even when I am not at home. These seem to be easy software fixes for Tesla to make, and, IMO, it’s really ridiculous that they haven’t.

    2017 Model S60D - annoyances

I do not understand why every time I get in my S 60D car, I have to respond to a charging level warning. I fully charge every time as I have a a 75kwh battery, so my understanding is that I am in no danger of overcharging issues. Indeed, that was one reason I purchased this model. So why isn’t...

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

Thanks. I don’t use recirculate at all just because of that. I do usually have a big dog (or two, occasionally) in back - does mouth breathing add that much humidity? I’ve never had problems like this with other cars so it’s a bit strange.

Out of curiosity, what do you hate about your Tesla?

Automatically turning back on the sound system is worse when you are listening to a podcast. I almost always have something in the backseat, and I pause the podcast, but it turns back on when I open the back door. I end up having to dig out my phone and go back a minute or so next time I listen...

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Is your car new? You might want to talk to dealer about this.

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

I've thought about doing that and I'm glad it works ok.

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

kutkuzak- that's scary. Sometime around when I first got my car in January, mine suddenly slowed a couple of times when driving on a Sunday in the express lane. No cars in front, an unfortunate pickup in back. Second time I did it he pulled out of the lane and passed me rapidly in an...

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Thanks for additional comments. Hacker, your post motivated me to try to understand things a little more. This was interesting from Tesla: Upgrading Autopilot: Seeing the World in Radar. Interesting, lots to learn and think about.

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Partial solve! I hadn't used my car since March (leg break) and just started using it again this month. I realized I hadn't checked the distance between cars setting, and when I did saw it had gotten set to a 1. I've reset this at 6 which I'm sure will help.
  13. K

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Glad I'm not alone in noticing this, RLC3, thanks. I've scared passengers with this behavior, and worry that a car in another lane won't be expecting my speed and will cut in front of me, so I usually break before TACC does.
  14. K

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Thanks, Hacer. I'm probably about to show how clueless I am, but shouldn't the radar bounce back off of some hard object stopped ahead in my lane, therefore my car should stop?
  15. K

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Thanks for the info, kdday. So 160m is 1/10 mile or maybe approximately a city block. Boy, it seems like I'm within that zone when this happens, especially on the side roads. I'll pay more attentions to see if my radar is malfunctioning.
  16. K

    Adaptive Cruise Control (TACC) Annoyance

Does anyone else get bothered by how little the cruise control looks ahead? I love using it in traffic, but too often somebody ahead of me pulls out of my lane leaving a largish gap to the apparently unseen next car - then my Tesla speeds ahead and I end up breaking (stopping the TACC) because I...

    Supercharger - Rochester, MN

I gave Hy-Vee a call, they were extremely nice, offering to check into details for me. The *plan* is to have them in by the end of SEPTEMBER, 2017! They will be located in the NW corner of the parking lot behind the store and near the bridge. They expect to start construction any day. I'm...

Tesla finalized today or tomorrow (by 11/24) - last minute fears

I am happy with my 60D for now. I just couldn't justify adding a few more miles for so much more money. It is my expectation (hope?) that the battery price will come down with time. Right now, most of my driving is around the Twin Cities so 60D will be fine. For my cabin (NE of Duluth by 40...

Tesla finalized today or tomorrow (by 11/24) - last minute fears

OK, well if you don't need the enhanced suspension in SF, I don't need it here. Gone. If power lift will help me re-sell, plus I really like soft leather on doors + cornering headlights - back on. Keeping winter package off when Steve's remarks helped me realize that front seats are heated...

Tesla finalized today or tomorrow (by 11/24) - last minute fears

Thanks you guys! So for this moment in time, I've dumped PUP & subzero, and added suspension. Subzero I was thinking would be nice when blades ice up, but with a better heater in car I may not even have that issue. PUP - I am going to be annoyed if an $85k car doesn't have a great quality...

Tesla finalized today or tomorrow (by 11/24) - last minute fears

The reason I didn't get this is that I don't remember hardly ever bottoming out a car in recent years. I do have a cabin driveway that has some steepness to it, but I am fine in the Camry if I take it slowly. And it sounds like something that could be expensive if it breaks down. But I will...

Tesla finalized today or tomorrow (by 11/24) - last minute fears

Thank, Houstonian. I have dogs - one of whom (a German Shepherd) really loves sunroofs, so he talked me into that one! He's very handsome sticking his head out periscopically when I run my errands (when I'm parked!). He good vibes everybody by smiling and panting at them.) I do wish it had a...

This is a very good video, thanks for posting it (didn't yet watch the whole thing, but about 10-15 min).

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I think this is the only shop in the five-state area - I'm lucky it's less than 15 minutes from my house! But maybe look for someone with whom I have better chemistry. The guy was always polite, so I don't want to over-dis him.

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Interesting, I didn't realize you could control that. It kind of bugged me on the dash image that you couldn't see more objects behind you. I think that would be a nice feature. I know I can put on the back camera on the ipad, but I might have designed that differently based on my first...

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I'm going to have to see if dealer will let me keep one for a day or two when I have time to drive it! I haven't gone over 85 (at least intentionally) for a few years now so I should be OK on that!

Some ideas I just have to sit with a bit and see if they are OK with me. 8^)

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Very interesting and good thoughts. I will watch the release video. Crash safety, last I looked at it in-depth, was very misleading. It seems they test little cars against little car impacts, as I recall. I live in Minnesota and when I first moved to the burbs, I would drive my sedan in...

    Feeling less and less comfortable

True enough. I have really loved my Toyotas and been quite happy with the dealerships, but sometimes people get unlucky.
  34. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I agree. I don't want to smear the guy I had in person, he was probably fine. Rubbed me the wrong way is all. I don't want to say any more because if I were them I'd be monitoring these discussions for feedback.
  35. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

It's really almost a danger in some ways. It's so close to autopilot, and yet not quite trustable enough.
  36. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

What configuration do you have? I have German Shepherd and really rangy Golden Mix (taller than Shepherd).
  37. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

That's too bad. Like I said, I did know the Toyota guy was a friend we played duplicate bridge with, so I had some comfort in him, his knowledge of the car, and his integrity. Again, it depends on the dealer and who you get.
  38. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I really want the autopilot for when I have to take my 16yo to his piano events downtown - which always seem to be around 5:30. There is just no good route and no good mass transit at that hour (going against traffic and bringing us back home in a timely manner). I do almost anything to not be...

Laughing! I have a portable Dyson that I LOVE! It's great for just hanging on the wall and being there whenever I need it. You can take the extension pole off and use it in little spaces, or keep it on and vacuum up crumbs, spilled dog food, bird seed, etc. Love it!

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I tried the Chevy Volt, didn't love it. I'm not talking to VW right now after emissions test issues. I will have to get out and try the others. This is busy couple weeks with all sorts of arrangements going on with kids going back to school - so once that is done will start looking again.

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Sounds like you and your friends have found your car. I think someone mentioned having it for a weekend or something - this is something I want to look into. I think it might up my level of comfort. In particular, the braking thing whenever you take your foot of the gas. I am kind of...

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Good info. I think my dogs would be happier in X for head room (unless used second seat of S without folding down). However, one is getting old (9yo German Shepherd with a little hip discomfort) and will have to make sure he can get in OK.
  43. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

That's interesting about how the car will follow another car off the road! I like beauty, but that is fleeing (especially in my house!), and stress reduction is where it's at.
  44. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Yes, I do support a lot of causes, but we also need a third car! 8^)
  45. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

LastGas - did I thank you for this? Thank you! Geez, that's really too bad, he had become overly confident. I can imagine that Tesla is very safe. Maybe I mis-heard on 4" intrusion claim, but that was another part of my becoming skeptical.
  46. K

    Feeling less and less comfortable

Well, we have the money just sitting around doing not much of anything right now. So that is really not a problem. If this were a non-profit, I would have NO problem. But it isn't. And maybe there isn't that much of a difference, but I have to see how that sits with me. I can see how you'd...

More to think about. 150 is way different than 200. Yes, autopilot is a big draw, just have to remember it is really not autopilot.

Hi Alan, Thanks so much for all your thoughts. You know how to go for the gold, man! Wow, good for you knowing what you want so clearly. I am laughing re-reading your comments this morning (techno-lust!) And good explanation for marketing thought- process. I like logical! My biggest...

    Feeling less and less comfortable

I think if I go ahead I'll start small, and then up if I have to. Now that my kids are so busy and older, road trips are not as likely. I keep thinking about them because we had a lots of fun on some of them, but will it really occur? Not sure! You've got me curious - how does it take more care?
