Getting Blackvue 900DRS installed by Calibred Customs next week.

Hey Turtlesz: if you don’t mind me asking, which shop in Irvine did your install? I would happily pay them a hundred bucks to put the BV in my m3. Thanks!

Snagged a P90D Inventory car for $700/mnth on the new 24 month lease

I just completed my lease return inspection (I financed through Tesla). They contracted the inspection to an outfit called Autovin, and the guy was nice but very, very thorough. He took about 30-40 mins to inspect, and in the end, he logged a few things: 1) a 2.5" curb rash that he attributed...

Somebody buy this smoking CPO deal

My exact situation as well. Got my MS on a 2 year lease in Sept '16. I'm going to return it, so it's going in the CPO pool shortly with only 16k miles on it!

    White on White Concern!

I would have preferred black alcantara headliner myself - that's what I currently have in my MS. But there's no choice of headliner at all for the M3. In any case, I don't recall it clashing in any way. And it's all a matter of personal preference anyway. I changed my config to the white...

    White on White Concern!

The headliner is that plain cloth stuff. Same light grayish color you see in the cars in the showroom. Very generic. And the door inserts were the same white vegan leather as the seats, not alcantara. The dash piece is painted white in a shade that matches the seats, but I couldn't tell...

    White on White Concern!

I just reconfigured mine to White on White also. And to answer your question, I can confirm the white seats on the M3 is exactly the same material and color as the white seats in the MS and the MX. I just test drove the car on Sunday!

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

Bingo! Complacency is exactly the issue. At the end of the day, even a slightly unreliable autopilot makes a long commute infinitely more tolerable just because you won't have to white knuckle it the entire way(my LA to Orange County commute is 2 1/2 hours on some days, one way). Just...

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

Lol. Well, glad to see that at least one person benefited from my misfortune! Actually, two people. I've spent the last month driving a rental Camry. Hate that damn car, but it's helped me become a decent driver again since I could no longer rely on a car that could almost drive itself.

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

A few thoughts and answers to your questions: I said it several times, I’ll say it again here. The accident was my fault. I fully admit that. I was screwing around with the screen and wasn’t paying attention to the road as I should have been. Dumb move. Lesson learned. Won’t ever happen...

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

Quite a bit, since my car hit his bumper at an angle. Here's a closeup. It's around $5k of damage, I believe. The shop replaced the hood, bumper, fender, and some stuff under the bumper.

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

Medium. But if you watch the video with the audio on, you'll hear the collision warning go off about a blink before impact. I was fiddling with the GPS on my screen, and I recall hearing the beeping, slamming on the brake, but it was obviously too late to avoid hitting the truck.

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

You're absolutely right. I was not an attentive driver and was not watching the road, and hence the accident happened. I take full responsibility. No question about that. That doesn't change the fact that Autopilot is designed to detect a car moving into your lane and react accordingly, and...

Dashcam video: my Tesla smacks armored truck while on Autopilot

I've owned my MS for a year and a half and have absolutely loved the car, but something happened a few weeks ago that really rattled my confidence in Tesla. While I was driving on the freeway in stop-and-go traffic on a gray, rainy day, an armored truck slowly moves into my lane, and my car...

Supercharger - Burbank, CA - North Third Street (LIVE 14 Sep 2017, 20 V2 stalls)

Sorry. I'm an idiot. I checked today, and the chargers in the valet area are not superchargers. Sorry guys.

Supercharger - Burbank, CA - North Third Street (LIVE 14 Sep 2017, 20 V2 stalls)

Actually, I saw a bank of superchargers already operational in the Americana parking garage on the first floor, but it's currently not open to the public (it's gated separately). It looks like they're using it to charge new Teslas for test drives from the Tesla store in the Americana mall. I...

    Insurance On Model S?

You might want to try Metromile. They're a new VC-backed outfit, I believe, and their model is a pay per mile billing system. You pay a base rate and then a per-mile rate, and they bill by the month with no contracts and no term. The premium on my Model S is $43 per month and 6.5 cents per...

Refreshed Silver vs Midnight Silver pictures

I haven't looked closely at the silver color, but the metallic flake on my car do pop more than I've seen on other metallic paints in past cars I've owned. It has an almost grainy look to it, and you can almost see the dots of blue within all the silver and the black flakes. Also, I have 2...

    Still considering advanced autopilot?

IMO, this whole debate is analogous to saying that one shouldn't buy a engine with more horsepower in a ICE because it could lead to fatal accidents. Is it true that, in the hands of a teenager or a reckless driver, a fast car could be dangerous? Absolutely. But in the hands of many if not...

Can someone help me identify this electrical outlet type?

This is the type of electrical outlet my apartment building is providing for EV charging. I'm not the most knowledgeable about these things, but it doesn't look like a NEMA 14-50 or 14-30. Can someone identify this? Also, do you know if Tesla makes an adapter for this? Thanks guys!

Review of Prodashcam.com's Blackvue Install in SoCal

Here's a quick recap of my experience with Prodashcam.com: Ordering, Scheduling, and Costs Super easy. I called and reached Aaron (the proprietor of Prodashcam.com) right away. I explained what I needed, negotiated some discounts for two cars and cash payment, and scheduled a time for the...

Just picked up my car today!

@Skione65 Glad you like it! It's an unusual combination. Most people with Midnight Silver go with Black or Gray. But the tan interior gives it a Euro feel, IMO, kinda Aston Martin feel. I love it and will probably go with it for any future Teslas I may buy. Re the wood, it's Figured Ash...

Cost-effective solutions for new car: Paint Coating? Tint? DIY?

I just picked up my S60 today. Absolutely adore the car, and now I'm thinking about how to beautify and protect it, and I'd love to get your thoughts. My car is on a two year lease, so I don't want go too crazy (saving the splurge for my Model 3 P100L coming in 2018!). So cost-effective...

    Question re TPMS

Tesla has just completed production on my S60, so I should be getting my car in the next 5-10 days! Can't wait! Quick question for you guys: I'm thinking about ordering a set of 20" rims and tires off Tirerack.com. Can someone educate me a little about TPMS? Do I need to order them from...

    Metromile Insurance

@ssq: Interesting. For sure they collect location info as well as mileage since you can view all your individual trips via their mobile app. And in case you're in a major collision, I wonder if they can use the info (speed, etc.) to determine fault? NGIC is a credible insurer, right?

    Metromile Insurance

I've had Metromile for about 6 months now. So far, so good: Very inexpensive (about 1/2 what I was paying with Geico) at about 800-900 miles per month. Great customer service - I was able to reach a live customer service rep in SF every time, and one even gave me his direct line in case I...
