    Memphis Service Center?!

Had my S in for service this week, got to talking with the rep and found out they're planning to relocate to Covington Pike at the start of 2021. As part of the move he said they'd be a proper Tesla "dealership" able to accept deliveries and handle more vehicles for service. ETA was 4-5 months...

    Nashville to Memphis and back

This is quite an old thread, there are now Superchargers in Jackson and Memphis. Little Rock is still a WIP but just keep up with the thread for it and you'll be fine when it comes online. I drove Memphis - Charlotte round trip two weeks ago averaging 80mph and I never once had any range...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Yeah I avoided using the term "favorite" since asking Memphians for their favorite BBQ joint usually sparks a holy war; that said I will second getting comissary, it's worth it just not as easy to get to for out of towners. Suffice to say THX1139 there is no right or wrong answer for good BBQ...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Walking distance not so much, but a very short Uber ride (<2 miles) would take you to a few. Corky's is a little to the west on Poplar (just on the other side of East I-240), that's a pretty good crowdpleaser as they cater to most types of BBQ. Pyro's (in the SpC parking lot) is a local pizza...

    "Charge cable fault"

Since it's only day 3 I'd chalk it up to user error, my first few weeks of ownership were filled with little learning experiences (e.g. optimal angle to insert the charging plug). That said if the problem persists make certain to contact an electrician and Tesla. I had my UMC throw the same...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

It's possible they've updated the configuration as last night I was able to break 80kW on it (had cold batteries and a 30% SoC). Kept a solid 75kW until I disconnected around 65% SoC. My new UMC arrived last night so I won't be using the SpC nearly as frequently now.

Over here at the supercharger now, Tesla reps from Nashville are here doing some test drives for prospective customers in town. Got to test drive a XP90D while my lowly S85 was charging. Things of interest, they know the Memphis SpC is underperforming (the rep wasn't sure why) and they don't...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Originally there was going to be an event for the launch of the Memphis SpC but it got cancelled with the delays. Does anyone know if that event is going to be rescheduled? And would anyone have interest in doing a meetup now that we've got our SpC online? Also fun side note, my UMC failed last...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Stopped by to test every charger pair (1B, 2A, 3A, and 4B) and they all topped out at ~40kW and settled in around 38kW. I started off at 60% charge so it could easily go above the limits we've been seeing. After calling support about the issue the rep stated "my battery was too cold to accept...

Good to know. I'm hopeful we're still in the burn-in phase for the new SpC equipment and once everything proves stable they unlock the full speed charging capability.

Has there ever been definitive proof of geofencing for locals? I can imagine they would for the heavier users but considering this is such a new installation I'm concerned it's a bad configuration. At this point I'm more worried for people passing through, since the Memphis-Jackson SpC combo...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

The charger is starting to worry me a bit. I tried 3B at lunch today and it was never able to break 50kW. At the start no one else was there, when I returned someone was on 1A. I'm hoping the chargers output is just limited initially until they've verified everything is working properly.

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

I've never seen my car default to 100% when supercharging (but it usually is set there since supercharging usually = road trip). I'll be stopping by today around lunch time to test them out since it seems that no one is able to pull more than 70kW (both CSFTN and carlow's pics both show 70kW...

Allowed to take photos. The tech had to take his site photos first. The white S in the photo is his car running a test charge.

I'm sitting at the Supercharger now, we will be live in 30 minutes. Tech is here now, can't take any pictures yet (he asked me not to).

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

All might not be lost, the Jackson, TN SpC looks to be nearly complete. While it wouldn't give you the range to get to the next SpC in Mississippi it would severely shorten your time at a Nissan dealer.

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

I bought a 2013 CPO 85 with this same mentality. AP would have been nice but I enjoy driving and now with AP2.0 I don't regret my decision. You should be able to score a CPO for under $50k easy (I did and there were several options).

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

In my opinion Wolfchase Nissan would be the best place to stop. It's right near a mall and plenty of restaurants. The staff are quite friendly towards EV charging; I once had to ask them to power on the CHAdeMO charger as it had been shut off at the breaker. Since this stop is right off I-40 on...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

You can easily get from Nashville SpC to Memphis (I do so easily with a 2013 85 and I'm not exactly running under the speed limit). If for some unknown reason the Memphis SpC isn't up and running by your test drive I'd still encourage coming through Memphis. We have several free CHAdeMO chargers...

Stopped by yesterday, no progress from the MLGW utility side. Meter housing is still empty and the conduit still terminates right before the sidewalk. Just checked the last weeks worth of permit pulls and no approved electrical meter permits for the Ridgeway/Park area.

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

It'd be safe to assume they are an electrical permit. I've been checking the Shelby County permit records every few days to see if they've applied for the electrical meter permit, no luck yet. That said there haven't been any building (demo or construction) permits pulled for this supercharger...

Conservatives should be big fans of Tesla

Speaking as an unfortunate victim of living in the South/Bible Belt, the most common criticism I hear of Tesla is how much government subsidizing is involved. One of my extended family members is convinced the Supercharger network is run as a gov't assistance program and it directly costs him...

    What's your 90%?

Sorry to interrupt the chain but adding a data point to the conversation. I've had my CPO S85 for a little over a month now. My 90% is 228mi, with 100% (in the few cases I've put it there) being 256mi. I'm unsure of my battery pack revision, I'll check in a bit, but the car as a whole has 63k...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

There should be ample power available, looking at CSFTN's pictures it looks like there is already 3-phase 480 on the pole (judging off the transformers MLGW installed). The grid nearby should be relatively robust given St Francis hospital is around the corner and running parallel to I-240 are...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

I've been checking into it every other day or so; at present there are no outstanding building (construction or demo), electrical, or mechanical permits pulled. I'd imagine, based on CSFTN's posts, MLGW (local power company) is working to get their ducks in a row before Tesla can do anything...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

I've gone by Shelby Farms and used them twice now. The park additions are fantastic. There currently is no charge or even membership card required to use them, although there is a touch panel at the end of the station where they could possibly take payment in the future.

Looks like all went well at the Board of Adjustment meeting yesterday. The minutes from the meeting aren't available yet so we can't see the vote tally but the staff report recommended approval with 3 minor conditions (mostly landscaping and not to deviate from the submitted plans). Now to keep...

    Memphis area CHAdeMO loan

CSFTN came through in an amazingly fashion and I was able to grab it within hours of getting in contact with him. I appreciate the offer though, this community is fantastic.

    Memphis area CHAdeMO loan

Does anybody have a CHAdeMO adapter they wouldn't mind loaning out for a 4 day trip? I'm taking delivery of my Model S in Nashville and am doing a small road trip before heading back to Memphis. I'm not certain I would need the adapter but it would give me a bit of peace of mind. Obviously good...

What car/s did you come from?

2010 Lexus HS250h, drove it for 100k+ miles and averaged 40 mpg. My Model S wont end up saving me money through ditching gas but it's worth it to have much better acceleration/performance. Also looking forward to having a usable trunk again.

    CPO loan rates?

Picking up my CPO next Wednesday and I got 2.24% for 60mo through Alliant (per the recommendation of many others here). I also explored using American Airlines Credit Union, would've been ~2.1% for 60, not an option for everyone as you'll need to work for a US-based airline. I'm glad I went with...

West Memphis, where I-40 and I-55 merge, would be good logistically (although that is a depressing area to spend more than 5 minutes in). As others have pointed out the Pinch district of Memphis (Bass Pro area) would work in lieu of West Memphis. It is really quite sad that Arkansas lags behind...

There won't be any construction until this goes through the Shelby Co. Board of Adjustment; their next meeting is Aug 24th. If any residents want to provide feedback they can (but as a reminder this isn't to whine about the location, this is for serious impact concerns to the area). If anyone...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

And we're now live on supercharge.info This location is by no means the best but to be fair it's not horrible either. Tesla probably got a great deal to setup the supercharger there (Wolfchase/Bass Pro might have wanted too much in comparison). Pros: Lots of restaurant options: PF Changs...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Fantastic! That's not where I expected them to put it, not a super great area. I imagined it'd be up near I-40 and Wolfchase Mall/Germantown Pkwy, way more stuff up there. Then again IKEA is almost done being built in that area and they'll likely have quality L2 chargers there. I pass by here...

    Supercharger - Memphis, TN

Assuming it's in Shelby County they have an online permit search tool. It lags by 1 business day though, but I've been keeping my eye out for a while. Here's to hoping Jackson, TN comes in short order after it.

Hello from West Tennessee (in the heart of the supercharger desert)

I've planned out the whole trip using evtripplanner, it's what sold me on the possibility of the trip (and that I NEED at minimum an 85kWh pack since I drive to Nashville frequently enough). That site is a fantastic tool, especially when it comes to estimating the impact of climate control (yay...

Hello from West Tennessee (in the heart of the supercharger desert)

Hi everyone, I'm about two weeks away from the delivery of my 2013 CPO S85. The advice from this forum has been invaluable to me. I wouldn't have even thought I could afford a Model S if it wasn't for posts explaining how most CPOs are hidden from the main site. I secured fantastic financing...
