Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I have had the ownice device for a year now and it's in a cupboard because the lag is so bad (up to a minute behind!). Does anyone with a Model 3 Intel Atom NOT have this problem (which would mean either my car or the device is the issue). Also, what's the latest software version. Mine is on...
Hey - great to see yours is working and with a Intel Atom processor? Did you manage to save any settings on the 3.3.3.3 page? When I do and then reboot, it just reverts back to China...
Back to Ownice if that's ok. Firstly I have to update via Phoenix suite as 3.3.3.3 just fails ALL the time. But that's the least of my issues....
Unless I am doing something wring, changing the settings (China to US) is pointless as when I reboot the device (as prompted) it reverts back to...
Mine suddenly wouldn’t connect today no matter what I did. Just got the black settings screen but wouldn’t go to CarPlay. It eventually came back but with huge lag issues. I think maybe a Wi-Fi issue with T2C and car?
Great step by step walkthrough for new owners of the T2C.
To be clear on point 1 - it powers up when you open the door because it's plugged in to the 12V charger (not directly in to the USB port where you would need an on/off switch) and therefore does not keep connecting to the car...
ok thank you. It does shut down eventually so that's good. It doesn't auto-connect so I still have to manually switch from home to T2C wifi but I'll live with that.
Apologies that I've ambushed this thread. So I am now powering the carlinkit through the 12v adapter. As I read it, I now dont need an on/off switch. I just set both the T2C wifi and my home wifi to always connect on drive and it 'should' reconnect to the T2C when I open the car and connect back...
Thanks. I'll check the spec out - must be something to do with the amps/voltage?? From reading this thread, I thought you didnt need an on/off switch if you used the 12v cigarette lighter as it powers down completely on exiting the car...

Plugged to cigarette lighter socket in armrest. Works for charging devices but will not power up the carlinkit. That will only power up if I plug directly to cars USB.
Judging by the picture you're not using the 12v under the arm rest. I tried that and it won't power on the unit. Do you have a link to the product you bought and also is the there a YouTube video showing how to install? Thanks for the WiFi link as well 👍
Great. All good tips - thank you. I also have a USB switch instead of one lead. That may also be causing it. But losing that means it 'on' all the time.
I tried switching from 5 to 2.4g and that did work. Annoyingly it defaults to 5g every time I turn it on.
Does anyone else have/had this and know a fix. Had it a day and connection was easy so thought wow - what a piece of kit; too good to be true. And alas, that seems to be the case. The screen freezes often then suddenly remembers all the inputs and therefore flashes through them at 100 mph. And...
Just posted on this but should have come here. I have the same issue!!! Does your backplate fit before the new swivel bracket is installed? Mine does!
Anyone have a workaround or are you just allowing it to be loose/fall off!!? It is only for aesthetics....
So this is NOT me with lack of patience! So it fits when the third party swivel bracket is not screwed in but when it is, the top clips will not go in. I'm not sure whether it's the position of the tesla bracket holder (there's a video where someone has this issue) or the new third party...
If so, what was the outcome? No reset works, even after disconnecting the battery. Car will operate via the start icon in the app. Technician coming tomorrow but just wondering if anyone else been in this situation? It happened after I pressed the power down button on the screen...

Thanks. What I meant was, what's the effect if you just have a normal non-switch USB... does the tesla keep trying to connect to it even when you're not in the car?
Sorry to jump in here and I've tried to find a basic answer :)
I have ordered this device and plan to use a Sim. I want (need) to plug it in to the 12v adapter in the arm rest so bought a 12v USB A and C. If I dont get an on/off switch what annoyance does that basically mean I am dealing with...
Yes you could pull me up on a misleading title. At the rate it was depleting and with the the little knowledge I had, that’s what I thought it would be at. This has been addressed and corrected by fellow owners whom I’ve thanked.
Ok. Well I have ‘start’ under controls in the app so maybe the transport company can drive it to me. I certainly don’t remember setting anything up in the car.
That’s another point. I forgot my key card but apparently I can allow someone in the car remotely and start it and drive it. But only once as I understand it?
ok, maybe I can solve this. I'm on 60 miles and back 8am Monday. What can I do in the app to save what's left!???
Was on hold for Tesla 'roadside' for 20 minutes and now answer which is surprising at 6:30am UK time.
Not sure AA allows pre-book. The app certainly doesnt and in fact needs you...
So we're in sunny Mauritius however due to freak -5 temperatures in the UK, we are arriving back in the UK at 6am knowing we have no charge left (it's going down at 20 miles per day!!).
It would seem I have 2 choices and would really appreciate some advice from people who have been in a similar...
I ordered 'Ubertine-esque' 18" hub cabs back in August (they took but got bored waiting (they took 9 weeks to arrive!!) and so bought a M3 Performance which means I don't need the hub caps or spolier!
I find the aero hub caps very boring and I don't like the 'alloys' underneath either. I found...
Just had this installed and it’s very slightly crooked. It’s not the installation as it sits completely flush with the dashboard. It’s crooked because the long dashboard trim it clips onto slopes slightly at each end. So the only way it would sit totally flat is if my unit was made to compensate...
