    NEW Model 3 Highland review!

When pulling out of a tight parallel parking spot, it will work far better to turn on the indicator before beginning to crank the steering wheel hard to exit. I suppose this maneuver can be learned, but it will not come naturally (at least for me).

    Rear deck cutout

Bumping this again. Has anyone discovered (1) why the deck hole is now gone (simply noise reduction?) and (2) whether those of us with older builds can fill in our deck hole with no negative consequences?

Model 3 LR range is now listed @ 325 miles

I believe both extra weight and less efficiency due to the additional front drive unit (unlike when the AWD model S was superior in range to the RWD model S). Why did Tesla kill the RWD model 3 — too much competition for model S?

    Model 3 Price drop [Speculation]

Are they still switching the 'free' color from black to non-metallic white? If so, that could create some temporary demand at current prices.

What’s the one thing you like the least about your Model 3?

More votes for: Blind spot monitoring lights in the side view mirrors. (Yes, I have my mirrors positioned correctly bu I prefer an alert.) Cross-traffic monitoring Reduce road noise New ones? Use supplemental side view camera for parallel parking Better quality paint job Lower prices for...

    The GREAT Gamble: Online Sales

I’m on board with on line sales as long as Tesla dramatically improves descriptions of the each model and feature. For example, we should see good photos of the new cloth seats and the new manual seat and steering column adjustments.

Model 3 seats with lower back problems - others having discomfort?

How are Model 3 gen 1 vs gen 2 front seats different? Thanks in advance.

Navigate on Autopilot is Going to Cause Accidents

Tried using NoA for three consecutive days commuting to work and unlike Autopilot which I love to use, NoA is scary and unpredictable. To me, it is too stressful to monitor. Be hyper vigilant. I’m giving up until I read consistent reports on TMC that it is working great and a true...

    Reducing Road Noise

Super interesting topic (to me). Once engine, exhaust and transmission noise are eliminated, all of the remaining sources of noise are highlighted: tire/road, wind, squeaks and rattles. IMO, Tesla should do more work on these remaining noise issues to further amaze potential customers. Can...

    Drive on Navigation being released

Wow, that is clear and convincing evidence that the screen visualization does not always work in identifying cars in the blind spot! To me, relying on the turn signal to activate the red line on the screen is not ideal either (assuming it works), as it requires glancing in the wrong direction...

A little bird told me Model 3 is close to lease

Leasing shifts the risk of obsolescence to Tesla (away from the buyer). EV technology is still improving rapidly. We know that, at a minimum, autopilot hardware is going to improve in the short run. Over three years, the cumulative improvement can be large.

    V9 39.7 - Dashcam not working

Mine seems to generate a corrupt file when the car goes to sleep. The first image shows the how the drive contents look on a Mac. The second image shows the files inside the TeslaCam folder. The last file in this list won't open. This occurred when I parked at work. My work around will...

V9 - need two USB drives for MP3 play & Cam

The reviews suggest some buyers have had connection failures related to movement. If this is a widespread problem, using it in a car may not be optimal!

    V9 39.7 - Dashcam not working

I was in the garage trying to figure out why the browser was no longer working. After I rebooted the screen (which got the browser working), I noticed the dashcam icon had a red x, and I could no longer turn it on. I removed the usb drive, plugged it in to my MacBook air, checked a few files...

    Sunk-in hood

I apologize for not getting back to this thread. They did fix it. A trip to their preferred body shop worked (Amato's Auto Body in San Diego). They did not replace or repaint the hood; it came back with the same 3M protection film installed with the same imperfections it had before. And to...

    How will Model 3 improve?

This may not be as clear cut as some are suggesting. The credit drops to $3750 through June of 2019 (assuming Congress does not extend or eliminate it). By Spring of 2019, you may see further improvements to the car, including version 3 of the AP hardware, better build quality, and perhaps...

Has rear bumper color mismatch issues been solved?

Was at the San Diego Delivery Center on Sunday, September 30 (turning in my beautiful Model S 75D), and I noticed the white one they had waiting to be delivered had a color mismatch (in my opinion). I did not check the VIN, but it had white interior so I assume it was recent. I want flat...

    Canceling Model 3 Order

I have a first day reservation as well. I wanted our second model 3 to be the base model, as it would be a city commuter car. Here is how I'm thinking about it now. If I wait for the base model, it will likely be $35,000 (in black w no options) less say $1875 for the rebate after June 30...

Tesla ModeModel 3 vs. Chevy Bolt

Wow, this was a great summary. I recently test drove the Bolt and have a few additional comments. A. Exterior looks aside, as rachelhikes suggests, the Bolt makes a good city car because of it small exterior dimensions and the 360 camera. (Tesla should copy this latter feature.) B. You can...

    AWD front motor sounds

Variability of experiences with front motor noise is interesting. My refreshed 2016 S 75D has lots of front motor noise; it is especially bad (intrusive) around 50 mph. The San Diego service center has pronounced it as 'normal' on two occasions. It goes off lease this month so I haven’t...

AWD (non-P) delivery set for 8/1

Sorry about the paint issues! In addition to performance impressions, I’m curious about noise/whine from the front drive unit. My S75D has very noticeable and irritating front drive unit whine that is especially bad around 50 mph. My service center proclaimed it to be 'normal.' Thanks.

Manufacturing Issues on my Model 3

Re myM3's misaligned roof glass, this is more than "cosmetic." It can cause wind noise, which is also a frequent complaint.

    Sunk-in hood

The SD service center is once again admitting that it’s a fitment problem, which they claim can be fixed. My car is currently at their 'preferred' body shop for evaluation. I have been unable to get anyone to explain how they plan to fix it. I’ll let you know.

    A-Pillar trim?

In my experience, San Diego Tesla Mobile Service is MUCH better than the San Diego (SD) service center. The SD service center tends to proclaim every issue to be 'normal.' In fairness, they seem overwhelmed and are probably just trying to make the small stuff go away in an attempt to stay...

    Cabin noise

Has anyone experimented with filling the rectangular opening between the trunk and the cabin? This seems like an opportunity to reduce road noise (perhaps at the cost of affecting bass from the trunk-mounted woofer).

[POLL] Will Tesla ever offer a key fob for the Model 3?

I have an iPhone seven and it is NOT reliable in unlocking my Model 3. Further, as many have said, even when it is working, one has to pull out one's phone and go through multiple steps to unlock the frunk. This is an unfavorable contrast to my model S fob, which can unlock the frunk, trunk or...

    Sunk-in hood

I received a phone call this morning from Tesla telling me that they have not approved siai47's approach to fixing the sunken hood problem. The representative implied that shimming the bumper cover could lead to other issues. (This of course does NOT mean that they have actually checked it...

Warning: San Diego Tint & PPF Shop

I took my Midnight Silver Model 3 to RPM Tesla in south Orange County -- about an hour and 20 minutes from Balboa Park depending on traffic. I had the entire front end and all four doors clear-wrapped. The owner, Mark, has a great reputation for standing behind his products. Danny did the...

Warning: San Diego Tint & PPF Shop

Thanks for the warning. I recently had a bad experience as well and learned that the installer is everything. The installer that redid my clear wrap said it took him at least two years to become confident in his trade.

    Screen at night?

The screen has been clear, bright and responsive in every condition I have seen (so far). At dusk, the screen automatically switches to 'dark mode' (my term), which is also easy to read in my opinion.

    2018.12 for Model 3?

I used the scroll-wheel extensively in over 100 miles of freeway driving yesterday using Autopilot in 2018.12. I found it intuitive and a welcome improvement. The only odd thing I encountered was that, on multiple occasions, I got the "put your hands on the steering wheel" warning when they...

Current Owner Feedback Wanted: Squeaks and Rattles?

So far (at 650 miles), quite solid. I live on a very bumpy street (broken asphalt) and the front suspension does have what feels and sounds like looseness. My S 75D has the same sound, and the San Diego service center pronounced it to be 'normal.'

First thoughts on my Model 3 vs. my Model S

Just received OTA update 2018.12 for my model 3, and the steering wheel knobs are now functional for adjusting mirrors and adaptive cruise control. A good improvement.

    Sunk-in hood

My Tesla approved body shop called this afternoon with the following options to address my sunken hood. 1. They can try to bend the aluminum hood to fit better! 2. They can order a new hood and hope it fits better. (They speculated that the factory mold is wrong or worn out!) This...

Model 3 Drive Selector Replacment URGENT notice on my VIN

I have a refreshed 2016 Model S 75D with pano roof and, subjectively, my S has less wind and road noise above 65 mph than my Model 3 (VIN 39xx) — and I do not consider the S quiet compared to ICE luxury cars. What is quieter on the 3 — and much appreciated— is the absence of motor whine. It...

    Sunk-in hood

Thanks, I believe I understand your approach. 1. Adjust the hood latch until the middle sunken part of the hood is raised to be flush with the fenders 2. Shim the front bumper cover until flush with the front edge of the hood Does step 2 create misalignment where the bumper cover meets the...

Protruding headlights: Did Tesla fix this on your 3?

My service center rep felt two other model 3s in the parking lot and proclaimed my bulging headlights to be “normal”! I know of no other auto manufacturer including Fiat that would find this acceptable. (I owned a Fiat 500E.) However, because one of these two parked 3s did not have a sunken...
