BTW big changes in 2024 Model Y vs 2023 earlier Model Y

Fun Fact...our 2015 model S has a height from the trunk floor to the lowest point of the hatch opening of 28 inches, the same measurement in our model Y is 26 3/4 inches. The hatch floor is set much lower in the S than the raised floor of the Y. Kinda important measurement when trying to fit...

Thermal test in new SW update

I ran a thermal test on my 2015 MS 85D, Temperature sensor fail as well, does anyone know if this is one specific sensor? Is there a group of sensors that can trigger this failure statement, or is there a way to further evaluate and isolate which sensor is causing the error? The test set to...

    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

From what I recall when I saw them in person last fall, these are missing curbstops. Driving through would put you on the grass, off the parking lot.

BTW big changes in 2024 Model Y vs 2023 earlier Model Y

Agreed, on a whim we went in to the main Vancouver showroom. I am less impressed with the new cargo cover. The multi-fold design is not that appealing. I would have preferred a soft roller-blind style cover. Imagine if you forgot to take it out first before collecting people and luggage from...

trunk closes but wont latch that extra latch so car says trunk open

2015 model S may neednits second cinch motor, first one replaced Oct 2020. At that time the ranger replaced the latch mechanism as well, 299cdn all together. Does the latch mech really need replacing at same time? Could some regular lubricating of the latch mechanism prevented the second...

    2023 Model Y 25,000 (24,524) Mile Update - Cold Weather Impact

Great initial review. Few things Tesla could fix and maybe you could add to your list. Tesla should really add a "Turn off" feature for these: 1. The rear seat rattle that comes standard, even on the base model Y. 2. The stinky wet gym sock smell that develops in the AC system after a few...

Musty smell when starting model S

Both our S and Y developed a smell over time, crazy thing is they have two totally different smells. The Y has wet sock smell and the S has a musty smell. I have used a product called Kool-it eval cleaner from a local auto parts store. It used to be under 15$ CDN. It foams and has a long...

    Supercharger - Manning park, BC

Here this afternoon to see some snow. No power yet to the superchargers. The 2 new BC Hydro chargers are under wraps until February. Single hydro charger had a line up. We planned for this by charging at Hope both ways.

    Supercharger - Burnaby, BC

What the hay! 4 more chargers were added on the south side, 16 in total now. This should help a little with the lines.

Model Y - is this mold?

Hopefully the technician making a mess like this...it does not surprise me however. This is why I prefer never to take our cars to Tesla service if I had a choice. I have had the leather steering wheel gouged and need to be refinished, the trim scratched around the display with the MCU2...

    I can't decide!! Used S vs new Y

We have both the 2015 85D S and the 2021 SR Y. I agree the Y has the better back seat arrangement, but the S has the more comfortable road trip ride. The 3 is not even in the running, the low height trunk does not support enough luggage space for all the passengers. We have taken the S across...

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

I just visited the shop last Thursday, I plan to have some things looked at in the next few weeks. They seem to get great reviews locally. I loath going to Tesla Service for and issues, these guys seem much more approachable. I will keep you posted.

    Possible brake caliper leak?

I was changing over to winter rims on our 2021 model Y rwd and noticed the mess inside the rim. This summer set of rims has been on since March 2023, so 7 months. In that time it looks like something leaked from somewhere. It looks dried, some sort of fluid. I have little experience with...

Replacing Model S front upper control arms

If I remember correctly, the passenger side has some basket that was in the way. I was able to bend it with some vise grips out of the way without cutting in tight space. It is thin metal and will tear back fairly easily.

No real-time supercharger status visible in car

Yes I have premium connectivity. I also understand how to check the supercharger status based on the map icons, I have had the car for 8 years. For both our S and Y to behave the same seemed odd. It resolved after a few days. Telsa may have been playing with the data fed to the car for a...

No real-time supercharger status visible in car

Just noticed both our teslas are not displaying any real time supercharger status, only the locations. The app on the phone works fine through the location tab. Reboot did not solve it. Any thoughts?

    Travelling in Italy

We drove Spain and Portugal last June 2022 for 2 weeks. We had hoped to rent a model 3 from Hertz, but found the insurance rates and deposit twice that of an ice vehicle. We saw very few Teslas on the road and even fewer charging stops. In hindsight a 3 is too small for three people and...

    parking brake fault

I have also had intermittent issues with error codes. I have taken apart both sides and found corrosion in the gear assemblies. I suspect there is also a source for issue in the plug connection, I had both sides full of wet sand. These plugs are not well protected. I also second the idea of...

    Windshield rock chip repair Vancouver

Update. I tried Tesla Service over the phone to see who would do the chip repair. Service actually was available to speak to, they indicated I should look at the approved body shop list on the local website and go from there. Many of the autobody places listed do not do glass. One listed in...

    Windshield rock chip repair Vancouver

I have another small rock chip in my windshield, thought I should see to it before the cold weather. I had one repaired locally in Burnaby 3 yrs ago on my 2015 Model S. Today I went to the same place, they said they no longer repair chips in Teslas. I thought this was odd, he explained Tesla...

    2015 Model S Floor Mats

I have the originals in my model S 85D, the front ones are great, but the rear one has the lip curling inward. Almost seems like an afterthought in design, as the edge construction seems thinner leading to curling. Maybe something a heat gun might remedy. I will post some photos. The fronts...

    Supercharger - Tukwila, WA - Southcenter Parkway (LIVE 2 Jan 2024, 16 V3 stalls)

Hertz did have a statement in the policy that for 35 $ you could bring the car back above 10%. Almost seems worth it if you are pressed for time.

    Supercharger - Tukwila, WA - Southcenter Parkway (LIVE 2 Jan 2024, 16 V3 stalls)

I recently rented a model Y in Toronto Pearson Airport from Hertz. They did have destination chargers to top off the cars at Hertz, mine was at 88% SOC when I picked it up. Problem there is the nearest supercharger is 20 minutes down the highway, and with a slow charge taper near 80%, it takes...

TPMS tire location wrong after rotation

I recently rented a Model Y in Toronto from Hertz. Front passenger wheel indicated low after 2 days. I topped it up and checked for any slow leak, such as a screw. Without a gauge handy I had to guess how much to add until I could drive a distance to get the sensors to read. Tire still said...

Canadian Superchargers now charge per kWh

I think to change behavior, these charger were full even before they were built;). There are constant line ups at the Burnaby location. I also think in our market here there are many BC hydro options at a cheaper price point.

New massive CCS1 charging station in Hope BC - It's free..for now!

This is massive for this style of charger layout. I tried them initially when they were introduced in Vancouver. The sites were set up between 1 and 4 chargers. Being battery supplied, they deplete quickly and have to recover. Having 10 will lessen this issue. Still not as seemless as a...

Rogers is the carrier for Tesla Canada?

Recently this week I have noticed no LTE connection, only 3G, and loss of connectivity half the time, while driving around Vancouver. Glad I don't pay for this "premium connectivity" in my model S. I will have to see what my wife's model Y is doing. I have a 2015 MS with the mcu2 upgrade...

Another Model S price drop in Canada

Pretty good, considering my 2015 85D costed 106K in Grey with the upgrade of paint, dual motor, cold weather package and pano roof. One forgets how much add ons cost, now largely included. The CDN dollar was better back then, and a 5000 rebate from the province of BC. Much better ride than my...

    Supercharger - Port Alberni, BC

Putting a supercharger at the junction is the only place that makes sense. Not everyone on the Westcoast is headed to Tofino. There is also limited space in Tofino proper to built a station, couple that with the summer parking issues there, ice-ing will be an issue. I grew up in Ucluelet, so I...

DIY repair: EPB_w053 - Parking brake did not release, EPB_w052 - Parking brake functions degraded

It was acting up. The park brake on the Model S is a pretty easy access because of its' location. I just cleaned and lubed then pair last fall and wondered why I was having error codes again. Both electric brake motors show a lot of water ingress and corrosion...very poor design. These...

DIY repair: EPB_w053 - Parking brake did not release, EPB_w052 - Parking brake functions degraded

8 year old 85D with 110000km. Decided to pull the left rear park brake motor. What a fair-weather part, water gets into the seals far too easily. Lots of crud to scrape off, then clean and grease gears, then re-seat the o-rings in some silicone grease.

DIY repair: EPB_w053 - Parking brake did not release, EPB_w052 - Parking brake functions degraded

I had done the same process with 2015 Model S 85D. I even tried to remove the light coloured cap at the opposite end of the motor to access the internals. Learned the hard way, all the plug wiring internally is spot welded to tabs and will not remove easily. Epoxy put the cap back on and...

Climate failing to activate from app.

Yes, I have had this issue with both our cars for weeks now. The app takes a long time to connect, then disconnects and keeps trying. The climate control may or may not come on. There is a message saying connection failed if I keep press the climate buttons on the app. Not sure where the...

BC and Alberta get new CCS1 charging network via Chevron - Tip: it's currently free!

Last night I tried the one just off highway one, east of Langley. I did not pre condition and the pack was a little cold. I got 34kw for a few minutes, then dropped to 8kw at 10 minutes. Gave up after that. I am a little concerned with the cable, it takes two hands in the cold to wrestle it...

    How's life without Premium Connectivity?

Read the manual guys, premium connectivity is not required for remote app access to the climate control. Nav works fine without it, no satellite view, but routing is done with traffic in mind, you just don't see it visually. Kinda waste of money unless you like the Disney channel or watching...

BC and Alberta get new CCS1 charging network via Chevron - Tip: it's currently free!

Check Plugshare before assuming these work properly, the one on Imperial street in Burnaby BC has been plagued with slow charge rates (8.0 kW). We wanted to try them on Vancouver Island with our new adapter, but using the Tesla Supercharger was just so much easier and more reliable.

    Canadian Stores and Service Centers

Anyone aware of Tesla's over the counternparts return policy? I stopped by west 4th vancouver yesterday to be told part sales are final, no restocking fee or return. This is not disclosed on the bill of sales anywhere. All they have on their site is merchandise return info.

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

My right rear parking brake on the Model S was causing all kinds of error codes. I then had no summon, no braking/hill hold, and limited park brake function availble only on the right. Lucky the park brake only locked up twice and I was able to release it by shifting in and out of PARK. I...

Over the counter parts return policy

Any idea what Tesla's over the counter parts return policy is? I bought a parking brake assembly for my model S, turns out it was a flaky connector issue and I did not need the new part. Seems they do not accept parts for return, not even with a restocking fee. Their site is very non specific...

Model s refresh regenerative braking indicator not working properly

I don't seem to have this regeneration braking enhancement in the recent update 2022.40.4 on my MS 2015 85D. Perhaps this does not apply to legacy cars? I have tried rebooting with no luck. This is an update I am keen to get working, this time of year I spend driving around the city without...

Tesla recommends cleaning and lubricating all brake calipers every 12 months or 20,000 km

I had some notifications appear indicating my parking brakes were acting up again, I just serviced them last year. One has to be careful they are sticking and not releasing. They are quick to service, jack up car, remove tire. Have the wheels blocked and the car in tow mode to release the pak...

    2022.40.4

Just curious if the brake application during reduced regen really applies to all vehicles? My 2015 model did not get it with the update, but my wife's model Y did show the feature with the recent update. I wonder if legacy model S cars are being left behind?

    New Energy App

Seems not to work with legacy cars, my 2015 model S does not work, but my spouse's Y has it. Too small and detailed to interpret while driving, maybe the old display is better, with simpler data to view.

Battery steaming lately after charging? Is this normal? Just started after only 15,000KMS.

We have seen this a few tines with our model Y at a supercharger in cold weather. Last winter we would stop to charge after skiing lessons in 3C weather. Charging would begin, then after 10 to 15 minutes there must be a change in heat direction such that the car discharges heat quickly through...

    Tesla Supercharger Voting page

Ucluelet should have been done along time ago. By Ucluelet, I mean the junction where the BC Hydro charger is. There are so few destination chargers in the area that are needed to support summer travel there. Even with the ccs adapter, I am not sure there would enough chargers after leaving...

Supercharger - Vancouver, BC - Kaslo St

I would think this site is a good year away, it is currently a big hole in the ground. The concrete and steel has yet to reach road level. As for proximity to Highway 1 (2.5km from exit), the Burnaby location at Brentwood is closer (1.5 km from exit). This site is in an urban location. I would...
