Are electricians price gouging because you bought a tesla model 3?

I paid $800 + WC cost to get the following, and the electrician knew it was for a Tesla. On install day it was the electrician and a helper for <2hrs. - 100A circuit ran about 60ft into garage (future proofing) - 60A breaker (allowing charge to 48A continuous) - 100A disconnect inside new...

    All Weather Floor Mats?

    Yes, that's the correct site.
  4. S

If you installed a HPWC running a 60 Amp Circuit, how much was the cost for the electrician?

We got the wire gauge installed for 100A circuit (80A continuous) so we could max out the WC or daisy chain a second in the future. Cost was $800 for a pretty long run, + the WC itself. We got ours done when the Federal rebate still existed though, so 30% back at tax time.

    All Weather Floor Mats?

Also ordered my Lloyd mats earlier this week ahead of the car. As a heads up, get them direct from Lloyd - as much as I like EVAnnex, they are a $20 premium (+ shipping if under $100) for each set. Lloyd has free shipping and reasonable pricing.

Change from alcantara to cloth on PUP???

Can anyone confirm that the only change is to the headliner/visors? The door panels still have alcantara?

    Model 3 Battery Details

That would be pretty great - 100 miles in 10 minutes is enough to go a few days of regular driving (for the urban chargers). We're definitely getting the LR battery as we have ~240 range in our Model S right now, and run a little short of our destinations in the winter. We'd also like to be...

Prioritize your options offered through Tesla!

    1. PUP 2. LR Battery 3. EAP 4. AWD SAS, Performance, 19" Wheels, Color Upgrade (do not want) I would like to have AWD and some sort of accessory hitch/towing option, but will likely pull the trigger on the first three options alone. Only thing I'm disappointed about missing if I order early is...

Supercharger - State College/ Bellefonte, PA

They are getting really fast at these build-outs, and even the permitting it seems! So cool to see the rapid expansion. We were just in State College a few weekends ago, and remarked how nice it would be to have since they are like 90 miles from 3 other SC locations. No more range anxiety for...

Besides SCN, what features (or lack of in 3 ) would make u jump ship from a 3 to a competing brand?

SCN is supercharging network? That's pretty much the main feature that would help keep me within Tesla family, on top of EAP and the rest of Tesla DNA. If Mazda had a cheaper, long distance EV, I would seriously consider it (big fan of their engineering and styling over the past few years), but...

    Model 3 Battery Details

To add some new information/confirmation - render from the first responder's guide shows a flat cabin heater.

Will we have to leave Bluetooth on all the time on our phones?

From the first responder's guide - shows the trunk button on the rear lid, very similar to Model S.

    Supercharger - Martinsburg, WV

Been thinking of driving part of the Skyline Drive again when our 3 comes in (coming from MD). Seems like Strasburg would be helpful, have you driven further south to comment on other charger options?

Supercharger - Carlisle (Middlesex Township), PA

Great minds think alike! I went today too, but approached from the other entrance - then had to back out onto the road again.

    Supercharger - Breezewood, PA

Stopped in on Saturday afternoon. Traffic through there is always a bit of a pain, with a long red-light cycle to turn back toward the turnpike. The superchargers themselves are pretty open and easy to access right at the entrance. First picture is taken from PoV waiting at the light. The...

    Supercharger - Martinsburg, WV

Snapped some pictures this weekend at the new Breezewood, PA supercharger for comparison. Note how there are three main sections - the exhaust vent things, the large Square D enclosure, and then this equipment hooked up to four conduits coming out of the ground. I'm not sure why the third pad...

    Supercharger - Martinsburg, WV

Stopped by this evening to see if progress was made. Not much external difference yet. Still not signage, and nothing built on the third pad. Lots of empty wire spools! IMG_20170823_182549532 by sigmo32 posted Aug 23, 2017 at 8:06 PM IMG_20170823_182534738 by sigmo32 posted Aug 23, 2017 at...

Model 3 Trunk with Rear Seats Folded Down

On the S you just have to make sure the front seats are far forward enough for the swing. You can usually put them back a bit again after folding since the backrest tends to be angled (depending on the seatee).

    Wiki Model 3 delivery estimator

Also seeing Oct-Dec 2018 for delivery of D (to the East Coast). Seems awfully late if they are starting D production in Spring 2018. Hopefully they are just hedging the dates right now so they don't overpromise. Edit: RN did not match, FWIW.

    Question on Hagerstown, MD Supercharger

They should make one that mounts on the accessory hitch so you can enjoy nature at the same time. An add-on paper roll holder could double as a streamer for newlyweds.

    Supercharger - Breezewood, PA

So it's basically only a supercharger for handicap-placard bearing drivers, at that point. I would be pretty risk averse (on top of wanting to be courteous), so would likely never use it.
  23. S

    Supercharger - Breezewood, PA

So how does that work, if there are no other charging spots available, you can park in the handicap spot?

Is Musk lying on maximum battery capacity?

Are you comparing the wheelbase dimensions scaled from the Model S? Don't forget the placement of the motors is more inboard for the Model 3, which changes the layout and thus actual space for the pack itself.

    Model 3 RC sightings

If you look at the side profile, the front end of the 3 is very short in height, and the backend is actually pretty high for a sedan. Meaning the view from the front makes it look super compact next to a regularly proportioned car.

    Model 3 RC sightings

Good intel, though I don't think we can rely too heavily on the seats from the alpha cars, as there are obviously some big changes that happened. Notably the seatbacks/headrests on the front seats, and at least the middle seat in the rear.

    Model 3 RC sightings

At least we can now finally see a bit more what's going on in the rear seat. Looks like a compact middle headrest (some speculation was that the taller "Tesla" style one was just temporarily removed during testing), and possibly a flip down arm rest? Will have to actually test to see how...

    Model 3 RC sightings

Those foglamps look actually usable! Haven't driven with the newer LED foglamps yet, but on previous vehicles they have been rather weak and not very helpful other than visibility to other drivers.

[Rumor] Significant Engineering Issues with Model 3

10% failure rate - could mean 10% of the "part" made are complete junk, or that 10% are simply below acceptable tolerances. The first points to a systemic design issue (part is too hard to fabricate reliably), the latter a production tweaking issue (tighten tolerances, earlier QC). Would be...

Where are the (300?) M3 Beta Prototypes?

That was a great documentary (just finished it)! Well edited, a nice balance of the nostalgic history intertwined with the real pressures of modern engineering process.

An Update to our Supercharging Program

That certainly seems to be the case. Given the car can already exchange data with the superchargers over the Tesla connector, it stands to reason they can easily grandfather in existing vehicles and limit newer vehicles.

Warning Message "Car Needs Service Call Tesla Service"

Got the call this afternoon after pinging SC again - said they had "trouble pulling the logs" but were finally able to and saw some faults but need to car to diagnose. They are coming to pick it up tomorrow. Hopefully I can get a good answer from them after we get it back.

Warning Message "Car Needs Service Call Tesla Service"

Not to resurrect an old thread, but we just ran into this problem over the past week. While supercharging on a trip, a few hours from home, we got the message "Car May Not Restart" and that service may be required. Dashed the hopes of a stop along the rest of the drive, and drove gingerly to our...

Tesla requiring a charger be installed before delivery?

There were some stories of the opposite - a Tesla recommended electrician requiring a car to prove an HWPC was installed properly before finishing the project. That's also a bit silly since the HWPC can self-test without a car. My DS asked if we knew about charging hardware, but beyond that...

    Mileage Stats, Etc

I used to keep diligent stats for my ICE. Then life got a bit busier, and I still kept the fuel receipts and wrote down the mileage on them, but rarely updated my spreadsheet. For the Model S, I will probably not do that at all.

What is the height of the charging port on a Model S? Installing my Wall Connector

We mounted our WC at ~48". It's very comfortable to dock and undock the handle. In our case we have the long 24ft cord, so are walking a ways before plugging into the car. With the longer cable it definitely benefits to have a higher mounting position so there is ample space to hang the cord.

    Final Lease Agreement Timing?

We are scheduled to take delivery of a Model S inventory car tomorrow! According to our DS and the Tesla Financing guys, we were supposed to get final lease terms and numbers 24-48 hours before delivery day, which has now long passed. I tried to get in contact with both teams earlier today with...
