I was smiling when reading this, thanks for the post! Let me add my two cents, I think this applies to me too :)
I have a 2008 BMW M3 (E93) - stick shift, a Model S and a model 3 RWD, non-performance.
I *LOVE* my BMW (the last V8 engine), I love the noise, I love the handling, but the reality...
I came to this thread after seeing the repair estimates. I cannot believe the amount of HATE in this thread, and "wise guys" defending a clearly non-functional AEB. The car should have clearly stooped/slowed down, no asterisks in a manual can change that. Utterly disappointed with Tesla (I have...
Fully subscribe to this point of view (hands-free autopilot anyone?), leave this to natural selection...
The only problem is that the dying idiot might hit you too...
I think it's time for a service call; I had BT die on me a couple of times too (gray icon, recovered only with console reset). I find it surprising this is not a more widespread problem...
I have an annoying problem with my new M3. Every time I get to the car in the morning, the LTE connection is down and it stays down for about 2-3 minutes, until it magically recovers. Now, this is specifically annoying because that is the exact time where you would want to use voice control for...
@tccartier I completely agree the SC network is great, but if Tesla wants to keep its (main IMO) competitive advantage wrt. other manufacturers (especially with Model 3 coming up), this is an area that can definitely use some work. Making it more reliable, scalable, and user-friendly will be a...
Tesla map says only 2 out of 8 Supercharges stalls are free, reality begs to differ... Anyone had similar experiences?
BTW, In the latest update, the text has changed to something more fuzzy, like ' at least 2 stalls available' or so...
I wrote Tesla about the same thing back in Jan. Apparently not fixed yet. The scary thing is that it shows up in multiple places, which suggests it is a string (constant) in the code, which is shown in multiple places. The fact that a constant gets corrupted somehow is a really scary thought...
This thread seems all over the place, but just in case someone is still looking into summon, I made it work with HomeKit/Siri, using homebridge and a patch for teslams for which I submitted a pull request here.
Have a look at Siri in action here.
@SteveW25561 have you found that fuse (for the always on wiring in the mic casing)? I think I shorted the wires (thus blown some fuse), but I tested pretty much all fuses in the two boxes without success... :( post-facelift model S over here...
Tesla does not seem to think so, finds it normal (reply from Tesla support):
It's not that it's not detecting my hands, it's just that I have to *pull* the steering wheel each time.
Thanks for all the replies; to clarify: this is fully automatic, TACC engaged and no foot on anything. I will try to monitor the speed; it was around 75mph, but it could have been 73 or 77 ... did not pay much attention to that.
After a few weeks of city driving a had a longer drive yesterday (San Jose to Gilroy and back - about 30 mi each way). The autopilot was utterly *useless*, asking me to hold the wheel every 0.3 to 0.4 miles!!!! Perfect weather, new line markings, straight segments, light traffic...
I cannot...
BTW, this is the typical response of American companies to adversities - someone sued us, because some random guy did a stupid thing for which he deserves a Darwin award, let's dumb it down, constrain it for everyone else! Any of you thinks the shoe removal at the airports in US is an useful...
I too find this release 'meh', CYA sort of release. A lot of wasted engineering effort in improving media - no use for that, I have my iPhone, thanks!, USB? - make my iPhone wired connection work!, nav - same, you can't keep up with Apple/Android/Waze on that, so why even bother? AC on for a...
Totally agree with this! In my case, I use AS+TACC at +5mph (70mph), but the actual HWY speed is say 55mph. Now, if I want to exit, the natural tendency is to grab the steering wheel and exit, which in turn disables AS, but not TACC, which makes me try to take the exit at 70mph with no cars in...
I searched for a similar topic, but could not find anything similar.
My S90D is a couple of weeks old now. I love everything about the car, but one thing nags me: when on AP, in stop and go traffic, the brakes engage - in a pretty abrupt way and quite late IMO - but what bothers me the most is...
@No2DinosaurFuel - You can tell from your post that you live in SD, and not in the SF Bay Area! :)
Getting my car on Monday, hopefully they'll add funds to the program at some point in the near future!
Pano roof is a must if you are a tall person. I'm 6' 2" and I could still use more head room, even with the pano roof. Without it, I can't really fit in the Model S. Less head room than a FIAT 500e, which is quite sad!
I have just put an order for a 'refreshed' model S with third row seating, and I asked the exact same question. Unfortunately, the answer was 'this is indeed a problem and the newer model does not make it any better'. The same answer as before - apply some Infrared Film to the rear liftgate glass.
