yes it's a little more chunky than a tesla 3pin plug in the USA but our standardised type2 (mennekes) plugs sure do make plugging into a non-tesla AC destination charger, more convenient. (no messy adaptors needed).

i should add the Wall Charger can be daisy chained for a household with more than 1 EV avoiding a whole lot of hassle.

Compatibility only applies to Euro Type 2 cars.

to clear up any confusion: i'm talking about getting my wall charger put in now, rather than wait until the model 3 arrives next year. This is so i can charge an i3 in the interim. And as stated, this is what i have managed to do. Pics & video soon. ..

I'm sort of sure that's because NA uses a different charging socket on the cars.. compared with EU. So in NA, Wall Chargers or HPWC's are technically limited to just charging a Tesla.

The Generation 2 version of the WC (in The EU, and a few other places) works with all Type 2 EV's, which in my present case, is extremely handy. I hope to have it installed and charging on Monday and will post a video of it working...

Tesla should not waste time adding any CD system. physical audio mediums died a long time ago. USB connection for high def is already provided, and even high bit rate Spotify streaming is built in too. Tesla represents the future. Not the past.

before you depart, make sure you call and then follow up by email, a request to activate the roaming on your CYC card. A car magazine reviewer got caught out over there, thinking the roaming was already active before leaving the UK. It wasn't.

thanks guys, the reason for the question is that I'd like to replace my existing Rolec EV chargepoint with a Tesla Wall Connector to match my forthcoming Tesla. I would still like to be able to charge the i3 from that connector too, if possible.

don't know but my point is that ICE tuner fanboys will get more than they bargained for with a tuned EV.

how about your bike vs a Saleen supercooled Tesla Model S. I know which I'd rather use on a track. oh and, ever heard of Electric GT racing? They've got FIA's blessing to use tuned Model S cars.

BMW had a chance to prove their intentions with the i8 but blew it big time. Just imagine if the hybrid drivetrain was electric only. Just imagine. Its also interesting to note how many of the founding BMW.i. team left for a mix of Tesla, Faraday Future, et al.

wish the i8's battery were bigger, so it's battery-only mode could be more appreciated. when you accelerate in that mode, you get the most spectacular EV motor whine, maybe even better than what Saleen achieved with it's fully tuned Model S, but not as loud. This is the sound of the future...

I wish the i8's EV-only mode was louder. The whine of its electric drivetrain in this mode is truly spectacular. Of course, if only the puny battery were bigger too.

to me its like a maserati/porche front (looking at it from the right angle) I like it as is, but I also like the photoshopped effort too.

personally, I'd go with the sound of a tuned Saleen Tesla Model S or a BMW i8 in EV-only mode.

hmm. I think i would prefer a loud engineered spaceship sound or a louder real electric motor whine on-demand ... like when engaging insane mode for example. Horses galloping sounds weird to me. Lol

I think a solar roof option would be feasible - especially for the major benefit of eliminating vampire drain when not plugged in. It's also pretty darn cool

IMHO nothing wrong with a louder whirring in an EV. Heck, why not have a louder whirr/spaceship sound when doing a kick down from a standing start? It's details like this that will expand the EV market even more .

I waited in line at the Tesla store near Paris, while on holiday from the UK. Was worried I wouldn't be able to order a UK RHD version. Apparently it was fine. I was told there would be something coming my way as a token gesture for ordering in store before the unveiling.

I should say maybe the SoundRacer EVSM will allow connection to cars like the model 3 giving augmented and louder electric motor sounds? I think that woukd be cool

The Saleen 416 tuned model S has the sounds your looking for (but in an authentic electric way) And none of it appears to be fake through loudspeakers etc. Check it out on YouTube. Also, the i8, has pretty cool EV motor sounds while accelerating in EV mode. Nicely augmented by the loudspeakers...
