    Leaking 3-way valve

Has anyone with a leak like this had the service center claim that BOTH the 3-way and 4-way valves needed replacement? That's my current situation. It seems unlikely, and Tesla wants $700 to replace both of the valves (on my Model X). I've reached out to ask them to clarify/explain before...

EWR Airport Charging [Newark NJ Liberty Airport]

Their website says they're entirely self-park/no valet now. How did that work for you with charging? Their website also still says you have to choose valet in order to charge which seems like a contradiction.

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

I don’t think I suggested I was anything other than calm. “Legally” doesn’t apply. It was a Tesla-branded sign not some official government thing. There were plenty of other easy to maneuver, isolated spots in the lot that did not block a charger, but this couple chose that one. They didn’t...

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

The signs say 30 minute general parking. But again, there’s no reason to park here given how wide open the lot is, and it’s a much farther walk to the stores. There’s certainly no reason for the guy to make a point of staring my family down and then aggressively say “don’t worry about it” at...

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

We just pulled into a charging spot and a pickup pulled in and ICEd a spot immediately after us, and the couple in the pickup literally stared me down for 2-3 minutes. The Icing wasn’t necessary, the lot is huge and wide open. Hope this isn’t going to be a problem around here.

I swear I typed this out before JTseng posted the latest update :)

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

When I saw the chargers appear to basically "done" on Memorial Day weekend, I thought "this is awesome, by the time I come back for vacation on July 27, they'll surely be active." 2 months later, here we are. Super disappointing.

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

If it were me personally I would opt to not enable sentry and I would disable overheat for your stay. If you're getting to CM w/200 miles of range and just doing puttering around over the course of the week I would imagine you could easily have 80-90 miles of range left to get back to egg harbor...

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

Also, are you saying that arriving at Cape May with 220 miles of charge is *too risky*, 40 miles away from the Egg Harbor supercharger? That seems like next-level range anxiety.

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

I have a MX 75D which at 90% charge gets about 205 miles. I go to Sea Isle City from the Philly suburbs. If I'm there for a week, I'll charge back up on the way down, and maybe do one mid-week run back up to Egg Harbor if I start getting nervous about range. Otherwise, stop there on the way...

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

Yep, this is the correct strategy. Though it was WAY more convenient before the supermarket at the Egg Harbor charger location closed last summer. Will be super super nice if/when Cape May actually opens.

    Supercharger - Cape May, NJ

That's frustrating. When I checked it out on Memorial Day weekend, I felt sure they'd be operational within 2 weeks at most - it doesn't look like there's much or anything left for them to do.

Current state of the Egg Harbor, NJ Supercharger

Hi all, I'm a semi-frequent charger at the Egg Harbor location. There are a few concerning trends in the last few months that make me wonder if Tesla is going to keep this location open long term. 1) 2 of the charging stalls at the far end of the group have been broken now for at least a month...

Are you in PA, and have you been able to order yet?

Yes. Trust the delivery estimate. Mine was accurate basically to the day (4 weeks). Tesla didn't call me to talk about delivery date options until week 2.5.
  15. D

Are you in PA, and have you been able to order yet?

I'm picking up in Devon on Friday. I was wondering if I was going to be the first non-employee at that location :)

How soon does Tesla make contact after VIN assigned ?

For me it was within 48 hours of me noticing the VIN was there on my account page.
  17. D

    VIN Assignment

Oh good - I got my VIN last week from a 1/17 order and it was also in 43XX and was puzzled why it was so low when others were in the 5000-6000 range. Glad at least one other person is in the same range as me.
  18. D

    VIN Assignment

Interesting to see VINs in the 5xxx and 6xxx being assigned. I ordered on 1/18 and was only assigned a VIN today (2/2), and it's in the 43xx range.

    Change color after configuring

Honestly, given that they're pre-manufacturing cars and assigning them to orders after, they should offer a feature to let us choose from a subset of color choices in order to take delivery more quickly. For example we were solidly torn between three colors and would have been happy with any of...

    PA Model X Owner - Ordered Model 3 - Delivery Feb 2

That is literally the exact configuration I chose, but I configured on January 18. Interesting, looks like VA gets priority over PA at the moment :)
  21. D

    PA Model X Owner - Ordered Model 3 - Delivery Feb 2

Are you taking delivery in VA or in PA? I configured the week prior to you, but don't have a VIN yet. What color and wheels did you choose?
  22. D

Are you in PA, and have you been able to order yet?

+1, if you are a current owner, and ordered on 3/31, I would expect you'd have had the estimate that most of us had (Nov-Jan) before getting the configuration invitation.

East-coast invite. Non Employee , Model X owner

What I mean is that every other car I've purchased from a dealership in PA, you end up getting the first set of inspection stickers/exempt tags that cover that whole first year when you take delivery - there's no separate step of getting the car inspected when you buy it.
  24. D

East-coast invite. Non Employee , Model X owner

This wasn't my experience when buying my Model X in 2016. Registration itself was painless/through Tesla, though it didn't come pre-inspected - which meant within 60 days I had to get the car inspected myself. No need to interact with PennDOT at all though.

Are you in PA, and have you been able to order yet?

I reserved in person in NYC on 3/31, but I live in PA. I was able to configure in this latest wave that apparently started on Wednesday night (though I didn't notice until Thursday morning). I never received an email, just happened to check my account and saw that I was allowed to configure.

Do we know which group gets their Model 3 next?

I never received an email, but I checked my account this morning and I'm now allowed to configure.
  27. D

Do we know which group gets their Model 3 next?

Definitely not all owners. I'm an owner who reserved in person in line on 3/31 on the east coast who still doesn't have an invitation.
  28. D

Current Owner in Iowa and 22nd in line - No Email to configure

They don't seem to be going strictly by order time. I waited in line on the east coast (waited in line in NYC, but I live in PA) on 3/31, I'm a current owner, but I did not yet get an invitation to configure, either. There seems to be some amount of randomization factor happening, and the...

Falcon wing doors issues on hot days.

We've had this since taking delivery last August. If the car is in direct, very bright sunlight, our FWDs detect obstacles. Moving to shade or even just a place where the sun isn't directly overhead usually lets the doors open normally.

    Center console won't stay open

Did they cover it under warranty or did you pay out of pocket?
  31. D

    Center console won't stay open

Yep that was the first thing we did, no obvious obstructions.
  32. D

    Center console won't stay open

Has anyone else seen this issue? Lately, our center console door won't stay in the open position. We can open it seemingly all the way, but it never "catches" to stay open - always closes back up as soon as you let go of it. We'll ask them to address it at our next service appointment, but...

Front windows sticking after snow and ice storm

Thanks for the suggestions. This happened to our MX last night. It had snowed in the morning, the sun then shone all afternoon, presumably melting some snow into the gaps in the window seal. It got cold at night (down into the upper teens), so that when we tried to drive the car that night, the...

Ventilated Seats option is quietly removed from the "Premium Package"

I directly mentioned to a DS at one point that I liked the PUP but was concerned about the ventilated seats and it was never suggested to me that they could make it work. Oh well, Tesla lost some profit and I'm happy with the car as delivered without PUP.
  35. D

Ventilated Seats option is quietly removed from the "Premium Package"

Counterpoint, if I could have built a car with PUP without ventilated seats, I would have been inclined to get the PUP. Seats with lots of tiny holes and 2 toddlers is not a good combo.

Need USB Stick Advice for Audio

I have a new, high-quality, brand-name USB stick that constantly takes > 10 minutes to initialize after starting up the car. I usually get frustrated and switch to listening to music from my phone before the music on USB can be played in the car. Super super disappointed in the USB music...

Car Seats, what inside your X?

I had a similar issue with our Britax Frontier ClickTight. Specifically, the tether strap itself was entirely too short to reach the tether anchor position all the way at the bottom of the rear of the seat, without having each side of the strap be connected very far down the side of the seat...

Help required! Model X does Silver and white seats work??

We have a Silver ext. White int. Model X, with a 4 year old and 1 year old. Not sure why you think white isn't practical with kids - it is, after all, the only color with "ultra stain resistant" coating. It's been fine for us so far, we took delivery in early August. We did stay away from the...

    Anyone have this issue?

I got it to work this morning by randomly moving the plug around near the port until it finally popped open. It's way easier/more reliable for me to just press the port cover itself - that works every time.

    Anyone have this issue?

I took delivery 2 weeks ago, I've never been able to get the button to open the charge port door.

1 week in, FWD troubles begin

My opening issues all happened in the span of a few hours on Friday. I haven't had the issue recur so far today. We do also have an issue with our drivers fwd not always closing all the way - that has happened at least once a day the last 4 days. It gets almost all the way closed and then...

1 week in, FWD troubles begin

We just picked up our new 75D last Friday. My wife had the kids out today, and when she parked in the lot at her destination, the FWD refused to open at all with phantom "obstacle detected" warnings. I drove out there to meet her and was able to get them to go up by overriding them on the...

    Beware paying with personal check

For sure Wells Fargo should be able to easily detect this and prevent it - especially because the balance of the check was so large it should have been automatically scrutinized. Still waiting to hear what the bank's "investigations department" turns up. In the meantime many tens of thousands of...

    Beware paying with personal check

To clarify: It was deposited once on Friday presumably just as we took delivery, and then inexplicably, Tesla deposited it again on Monday.
  47. D

    Beware paying with personal check

My 75D was delivered on Friday, and we paid the remaining balance with a personal check. I went to routinely check my bank account online today, and noticed that Tesla had inexplicably deposited the same check *twice* (and Wells Fargo also inexplicably allowed this to happen), causing my...

    HVAC became inoperable today!

I just picked my car up Friday, and this weekend we had record hot temperatures here near Philadelphia (98+ with high humidity). When fully on, the AC when standing outside our MX is louder than our central AC unit for our house. Based on this thread, it sounds like I need to be calling...

Another Model X Problem!!! 3rd row seat stuck in down position.

I just took delivery on Friday and I've had trouble with getting the rear seats back up as well. Basically unless the rear seat is pushed down *all the way*, it becomes impossible to lift back up again. You can hear the motor when you press the button but tugging up on the seat does nothing...
