Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

A: The last time I purchased a new car (7 years ago) we weren't on the cusp of a multi-faceted transportation revolution. There weren't nearly the variety of technological and market forces at play, at least not at the $40K price range I purchase at. I'm not at all worried about the direction...

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

Some very good points here. Thank you. While there obviously exists some uncertainty in how this will all play out, I'm still very confident I'm on the right side of the line buying (maybe leasing?) a Model 3 and unloading my ICE car as soon as possible (talk about accelerating depreciation, woof!)

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

I haven't really. The higher overall cost for 2-3 years + limited mileage compared to a low-interest loan doesn't seem to make sense to me. But I do see your point. If I'm overly concerned about residual value and I'm liable to upgrade sooner than later, I could mitigate any resale value loss by...

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

Fair point. As I mentioned, I have some flexibility in what trim/features I intend to purchase, implying it's no great stretch. But I find it reasonable to set a level of expectation that the Model 3 will retain some "traditional" level of value when I sell or trade it in for the newest, latest...

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

I quite agree. That's why I put "investment" in quotes in my original post, but perhaps that wasn't obvious to you. That was also not the point of the post. I'm only trying to establish if the purchase of a Model 3 is any more or less precarious from a value proposition than any similar purchase...

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

In spite of your tl;dr, you make a good additional point. "Cars" are becoming more like computers, disposable commodities. I don't consider a computer's resale value when I purchase a computer, but do expect a 10 year functional life-span with software upgrades. Is that where we're at with the...

Do you worry about rapidly declining resale value?

I'm a committed Model 3 reservation holder, Tesla investor and Elon Musk acolyte and mission believer. However, I'm just a little concerned by three technological and market forces that may influence my purchase (not a lease) in light of future resale value: 1. Rapidly improving battery...

The lengths some will go to...

I'm as anti-Trump as the next guy (or the next guy), but until the House initiates impeachment hearings, to completely disengaging from the administration is foolhardy. So no, I will not take Mr. Nose Cutter's offer. I like Elon Musk's face and his position within the administration. For now.

Elon says final reveal in July

The release candidates are validating the manufacturing processes, listening for rattles and feeling the ride quality compared to the competition. Any tweaks they do between now and July are all about shoring up the fit and finish, not design changes. Way too late for that now.

    Center screen.. Why not flush?

Maybe it will be designed to sheer away when an airbag deploys, allowing it to bounce around harmlessly throughout the cabin.

Model 3: What type of charge connection?

Will a Tesla let you drive away with your Aunt Joyce's arm stuck in the rear window, with the majority of Aunt Joyce's body not in the car? Asking for a relative.

Could the Model 3 be the last car you buy?

For those (like me) who are committed to buying a Model 3 (not leasing), could the Model 3 be the last car you actually ever (need to) buy? Consider a few different factors: Provided it's as well built as we expect it to be (early fit and finish issues excepted), the electric drivetrain should...
