Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
Hi,
I'm a Model 3 reservation holder (UK), which means I'm still at least a year away from getting a Model 3.
The route from our consumer unit to where we'd want our charging point runs right through our garage.
But before the Tesla arrives, we will be renovating our house, including...
What makes you think this? Having looked into it, the government guidance is pretty clear - the grant ends no later than March 2017:
"5.3 Future review of grant levels
The grant will be maintained at the current levels until March 2017, or until a prescribed number of each type of vehicle have...
If it really was their car, and you were just an occasional driver, then there isn't a problem.
The problem would be if you were the main/only driver pretending to be an occasional driver to get a lower premium - that is illegal.
I've worked in the industry - if insurers can avoid a payout...
Just be aware that that is fraud and in the event of a claim the insurance company would investigate this very thoroughly (ie, go knock on the neighbours doors and ask 'who normally drives that car', etc). They work very hard not to pay out if they don't have to.

They didn't, but they seem to be moving towards it. The Model S price increase in the US was $1,500, in the UK it was £4,200 - four times as much. The gap between US and UK price has widened massively.
Even the cheapest model S has gone from £54,100 to £58,300, a 7.7% increase...
In the US, on the other hand, prices only went us by $1,500.
Pretty steep. Makes me a bit more concerned what the Model 3 price will be.
I don't think it'll be that much. With in-demand cars there's often a premium paid for immediacy, but normally this is on high-cost vehicles. I doubt anyone is going to pay $10k over retail when they could almost get a Model S for that.
I looked into this and it's looking unlikely...
"[The Office for Low Emission Vehicles] has said that the grant will be maintained under the new regime until March 2017 (contrary to the Government’s initial announcement of 2018), or until 40,000 sales of category 1 vehicles, and 45,000 combined...
