    Windshield Defogging issues

The problem was using "Auto" mode. At our service appointment, they told us in that situation to take it off Auto and not use the window defogging button, but simply manually select the window air, turn on AC, and turn the fans to 11.... I think the problem is that when we used the window...

    Windshield Defogging issues

Our HVAC system was able to cool (or heat) the car and to defog at times. The challenge was the inconsistency of the defogging. And, overall, the system had been on auto, and the recirc was turned off....

    Windshield Defogging issues

Came here because we're having a similar problem with our Model S. Driving on a rainy night with system on "Auto" mode and window started fogging up. Turned defogger on, both defrost, and defog mode, and didn't have real effect until manually turning the fan to "11". Left it in that mode...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

[Sorry if this is a repeat message as I already posted something similar to this message - but it appears to be missing] In any case, we just ordered the M3, and hoping it comes in the early part of the Oct-Dec range! We had considered all the other cars listed above (and test drove some of...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

Re: Superchargers, it's more about their availability/ubiquity than ease of use. And, of course, fast charging is nice! We don't need a ton of range for daily driving, but good if we don't have to worry about charging every day in the middle of the winter, so nice to have some cushion. And...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

And, BTW, if anyone has other suggestions for our second car to be any other all-electric car that is a top safety pick + (or equivalent), I'm all ears. But we do like being able to use our home Tesla charger for it, and also like the Supercharger network...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

Thanks for all the advice! To be clear, this is to be my car, for him to drive when he needs to get to his jobs or to school. And he learned to drive on our Model S 100D (my wife's car), so is very used to driving Teslas, and he is an extremely conservative driver (and very risk adverse in...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

The federal tax credit wouldn't help us as we need the car before 2023, but great point about the warranty! And I agree about winter tires vs. AWD... Anyone know if there were any meaningful hardware updates between 2018 and 2022? That would make a difference as well...

New vs. Used if ordering now>

We're long time Model S owners, and looking to get a Model 3 as a second car and for our teenage son to drive. Would normally get a used car for this purpose, but it's not clear that makes sense giving used pricing right now, the MA $2500 rebate, and I'm assuming the increased resale value...

    Efficient tires?

As a quick update on the PureContacts - so far so good. We don't drive aggressively at all, so can't say much about performance (as far as I can tell, it's at least as good as any tire we've ever had), so only thing I've been paying attention to is efficiency, and since we've had the tire, we're...

    Efficient tires?

Thanks all! Seems that there are several great choices. And thanks to this thread and post: Conti PureContact™ LS I decided to stick with going with the PureContacts (it had not come up when I searched for "tires" but did when I searched "PureContact"). If folks are curious, I could post...

    Efficient tires?

Am looking for all-season tires to complement our winter tires (so maybe 3-season tires for here in New England), and I've found a lot of great threads here on the most quiet tires, but relatively little info on which tires are more efficient (i.e. less rolling resistance -> greater range). Of...

Hitch (Ecohitch) Installer west of Boston?

Yes - we got that recommendation, and they sound great, but my wife really didn't want to have to go so far. Hard to believe that there's no one local who's willing and able to do a good job installing this...

    Model S ecohitch installer recommendation?

Anyone have any suggestions for an installer near Boston? The Dedham service center won't do it, and neither will the two Tesla certified body shops. But there has to be someone near Boston that can install a hitch??

Hitch (Ecohitch) Installer west of Boston?

    screen discoloration

Just received my new inventory 100D, and first thing we noticed is that the top of the screen is significantly yellow, making me a YBS as well, though I didn't even know this was an issue with Tesla until now! We can reject the entire car, but, we did get a good deal, and I suppose that we...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Hi - just wanted to post about and get advice about our ongoing delivery ordeal. We returned our 2016 Model S last month when the lease ended, and ordered a new inventory Model S 100D on March 16th when the prices dipped down. Our sales advisor got in touch and let us know that it would be...

    EAP vs FSD upgrade

I'm still pre-delivery, so my account page is just asking for my insurance and financing info... I've confirmed that the car already has EAP, and therefore has all the features listed above today. Only question is whether to pay the extra $3K for the future FSD features (e.g. computer...

    EAP vs FSD upgrade

I was just told that it would cost $3K to upgrade from EAP to FSD before delivery, then $3500 for the next 60 days, and then $4K after that. And that EAP includes all capabilities the car has today, but that FSD will include upgrading to the new hardware and new capabilities in the future...

    $2000 FSD Poll

I have a new inventory Model S (originally built in May 2019 with EAP) being delivered this week, and, though I've been asking for the last two weeks, Tesla sales reps have been unable to tell me what the cost will be (if any) to get the FSD features - either before I take possession of the car...

    EAP vs FSD upgrade

What is the source of that graph? I ordered a "new inventory" Model S with EAP that is being delivered this week. Given that it had EAP before Feb 28th, does that mean that it will include FSD as well?? Tesla sales reps have not been able to answer my questions about what the cost (if...

What's going on with new inventory pricing?

Have been in the market for a new Model S, and last night I saw that the prices for new inventory Model S's had dropped by ~$8,000 (to ~$79K for a new 2018 100D with Enhanced Autopilot, etc., and the standard new inventory mileage of 50 miles). Couldn't sleep this morning, and then noticed...

    US Bank end of Lease

If you buy a used car from Tesla, and there's something wrong with it, they won't repair it?? I thought they had warrantees? What does the warrantee cover or not cover? I'm also in the situation of the lease on our 2016 Model S ending, and am trying to decide between 1) Buying it off the...

Service plan if on 3-year lease?

Service plan if on 3-year lease?

We got our 70D 57 days ago (so 3 days left to decide whether to get a service plan!) and am planning to replace it at the end of our 3-year lease. By my simple math, since we won't need the year-3 service appt, the service plan isn't worth it, since we would only spend $400 + $700 for the 2...

HPWC on 40A circuit: amperage to charge at?

Would be too expensive to change (or even fully inspect) the wiring between the circuit panel in the basement and the garage. So I just set the charging to 32A... Thanks for the advice!
  38. D

HPWC on 40A circuit: amperage to charge at?

A little more context: The circuit breaker and wiring to the garage was installed when the house was built five years ago (with the intention of being used for an EV some day!). Today, the electrician simply installed the wiring from the end point of the original wiring to the HPWC (I don't...

HPWC on 40A circuit: amperage to charge at?

Yes - see below. Is there any way to tell what's the highest continuous current it can handle? And is worst case that it will trip and interrupt charging?
  40. D

HPWC on 40A circuit: amperage to charge at?

I apologize if this exact question has been covered already. The electrician installed our HPWC today, off a circuit breaker that is labeled 40A. He was certain that he set the dip switches for a 40A circuit (which I had thought should charge at 32A), but the car was charging at the full 40A...

    2016's getting pushed back?

It started working last night, ~6 hours after delivery... And, BTW, since we didn't have the wall power installed yesterday (it's being installed as I write), I just plugged it into a regular 15 amp outlet, and over night it charged up for the amount I drove yesterday (~30 miles, at ~3 miles/hour).

Got the car yesterday as promised! They told us the delivery appt would take ~1 hour, and when we actually had the appointment my wife had to leave after we'd been going for 2 hours, and I had to leave after 2.5 hours, and he still wasn't done! He was especially excited to demonstrate Summon...

Insurance for Model S in Massachusetts

Insurance for Model S in Massachusetts

The quote I got from Amica was $4,257, compared to $1,765 from Liberty Mutual. I assume the rebate check isn't large enough to make up for that difference?? And, FWIW, the Amica rep had never heard of Tesla and seemed to have a lot of trouble making the quote (had to check with a...

Yes. They confirmed that the updated delivery time is correct, and that they expect the car will arrive in Dedham that week! The only odd thing is that it seems that they won't know when it's actually arriving until it gets there, as they said they won't reach out to me to setup an...
