    Supercharger-Covington, GA

It is listed on the map as having Magic Dock capabilities which will support CCS vehicles also. So one has to assume it will support non-Tesla NACS adapter vehicles (since there aren't any native Non-Tesla NACS vehicles yet).

    Supercharger-Covington, GA

Most likely but we won't know until Tesla tells us.

    Supercharger-Covington, GA

There is no Supercharger in Thomson. I think it would be a good place to put one Just off I-20. It's about the only town with services in that area.

    Supercharger-Covington, GA

This site turns out to be particularly useful for me with my trips to the South Carolina Coast. It's my exit stop on the freeway before home! So I'm looking forward to it. The last place to plug on that freeway (I-20) east of Atlanta would be around Thomson, GA.

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Let's try it again. Solar panels open at Orangeburg.

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Posting those pics didn't quite work as I expected.

    Supercharger - Augusta GA

The "Steak N Shake" at this location is closed down. So now you have to walk across the street to McDonalds, Dairy Queen, etc for a restaurant or restroom.
  8. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Charged at Orangeburg over Thanksgiving Holiday and the solar panels were in production. Very cloudy so low output.
  9. windgrins

    Supercharger - Commerce, GA

This one is useful to me on my trips back home near Atlanta from Charlotte area!

    Supercharger - Millen GA

I just charged at Millen last week and noticed that the charging stands are place "backwards" for longest cable reach. The units should be turned 180 degrees.
  11. windgrins

Supercharger - Charleston, SC (West Ashley)

I noticed they had the same issue in Millen GA with nicely positioned stalls but the cables emanating from the "back side" of the chargers with the way they were positioned. They should turn these around.

Charging car battery on the move with wind power

Agreed. Or the public is finding out that the Perpetual Motion schemes never work. The somewhat sad part is that most people can't tell the difference between perpetual motion and "available energy conversion" machines. Bottom line: Net positive energy machines (classically defined as...

Charging car battery on the move with wind power

In a nutshell, with the OP's question. As long as there is an external energy source (sun, wind, fuel, rubber bands, etc), a well engineered vehicle can generally take advantage of it for propulsion in most situations. There are no vehicles which create energy or can power themselves from...

Charging car battery on the move with wind power

It is as long as you don't have to buy fuel for the sun!

Charging car battery on the move with wind power

Yep. The top coyote situation actually works (poorly) in a surprising way: The Myth busters show that it can work. (It works because of the net force of the change in motion of the air). It generally works better with just the fan pointing backwards like an airboat or airplane. The...

Charging car battery on the move with wind power

It's not supposed to take off. It's a ground vehicle. They only used the airport because it is flat, no traffic, and usually aligned roughly with the prevailing winds.

    Tesla Semi

It's interesting that they went with the Model S/X Motors instead of the Y/3 family. Makes sense that they only need 3 motors. The clutch interconnection is a bit surprising. I wasn't expecting that. Congratulations Tesla on finally hitting the street with the SEMI. This can have much...

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

I charged at Orangeburg yesterday on the way back to Atlanta. The station was reporting "no more than 5 minute wait" but when I got there, there were only three cars charging and when I left (about 15 minutes later), only one other than me. I was very surprised at the basic lack of...

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Given the state of construction, I don't think they will have to shut it down again to get the solar stuff going (except maybe momentarily). The shade sure will be welcome in summer.
  20. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Orangeburg was open and fully covered with panels but the system isn't functioning yet. The Superchargers worked fine, however.

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Wilco. I would trust the in car map with the units most as a unit can go down near trip time. I plan to stop there but have enough to reach the Charleston SC just in case. Pics won't be before tonight.
  22. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

I should be stopping there on Tuesday if it is on line and I'll try to take some snaps.

    Supercharger - Ashburn, GA

A surprise Supercharger just in time for Thanksgiving! Nice for the I-75 Corridor to FL and back.
  24. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

That's exciting. I hope they are finished before Thanksgiving but it doesn't look like they will be. I would love to use that unit on my way from Atlanta to Charleston. It isn't essential but it is convenient.

Supercharger - Hilton Head, SC - William Hilton Parkway

I used the new Hilton Head Supercharger on Matthews last week and it worked great. I'm surprised it doesn't show up on Tesla's map on the website but does in the car. They need to update that as a marketing tool if nothing else.

    Supercharger - Dublin GA

Hey, has any of this group tried Tesla FSD Beta around the squares of Savannah, GA? I've used it around Snellville and Lawrenceville it's made a couple of missteps in turn lanes and such. Otherwise it was reasonably good with the latest release.

    Supercharger - Dublin GA

When I was there last time with a friend with a timeshare near the airport, neither Supercharger was built yet so we ran a 120V extension cord from their timeshare condo across the sidewalk to the car. (we did put tape over the cord in the crack to alleviate the tripping hazard). This gave us...

    Supercharger - Dublin GA

I'm planning on being in Hilton Head towards the end of October. I'll probably be coming down through Millen to visit part of my family near Statesboro on the way. Hilton Head is a nice place to vacation. Roughly where on the island is your property? Have you used the new Supercharger on...

    Supercharger - Dublin GA

I'm really happy to see this one going. It connects a route I use quite often (441 to I-16) because I have family down near Statesboro.

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

In general, all the trade press makes so much noise about weight affecting range but the reality of physics makes it not as much of an issue. Usually when the car is heavily loaded and you pay attention to the range it's on a long trip with a lot of freeway driving. Weight doesn't affect the...

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

Just down the freeway at SC-72 exit (only 2.5 miles from the split) has a lot of gas stations and a Hampton Inn. You would think that Hampton Inn would be happy to put it in the back of their parking lot.
  32. windgrins

Supercharger - Columbia, SC - Harbison Blvd

At the confluence of I-26 and I-385 seems like a really good location for a Supercharger for that corridor. Maybe at the exit with SC Hwy 72!

Electrify America is CHEAPER than Superchargers in TN and GA, and some parts of Florida

My 2018 Model 3 is not configured for CCS charging. Does anybody know what it costs from Tesla to change or add the circuit board that allows it to use the CCS adapter?
  34. windgrins

Supercharger - Hilton Head, SC - William Hilton Parkway

I travel through North, SC a lot on my way from Augusta to Charleston. It would actually be a nice charger for me but not critical!
  35. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

I charged at both the Lexington, SC and Orangeburg, SC Superchargers. There was one down at Orangeburg that I happened to luck into but it is a nice location with lots of amenities. Both were reasonably convenient and much needed. I haven't tried the St. George one on I-95 yet.
  36. windgrins

    Supercharger - Orangeburg, SC

Woo Hoo! Just in time for my Thanksgiving trip to Charleston from Atlanta! Thanks, Tesla!
  37. windgrins

    Supercharger - Lexington, SC

Yay! That is a Supercharger I will use coming from Atlanta to Charleston and back!

Supercharger - San Bruno, CA - El Camino Real (LIVE 29 Jan 2022, 28 stalls)

Was there any equipment around to actually indicate that these were Tesla chargers and not something like EA? I don't see any giveaways in the photos.
  39. windgrins

    Supercharger - Cordele, GA

I would assume one is out of service since there are three controller units and each can power up to 4 heads.
  40. windgrins

    Supercharger - Dublin GA

GA is really starting to fill in. In South GA, Hazlehurst and Waycross might be excellent gap fillers. Northeast GA could use a couple also.

    Supercharger - Cordele, GA

Are you sure you aren't looking at the number of stalls available in the car NAV system? If cars are charging, this number changes to let you know the available stalls.

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

It's also a very easy access off the Freeway also!:)

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

  44. windgrins

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

WooHoo! I just checked the in vehicle map and Madison, GA is showing as on line with 8 stations V3 SCs!
  45. windgrins

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

It looks finished but who knows? Maybe it just needs final checkouts. The remaining under construction, but unopened SCs in GA both look finished so we should have the Madison and Douglasville stations on line pretty soon. Supposedly Columbus went on line last week. I would be interested in...

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

This could be a rush install in prep for the Masters Tournament in Augusta late this week. It may well be reworked with a more permanent setup afterwards so be prepared for temp closure if it opens this week.

    Supercharger - Madison, GA

Yep. If I remember correctly, there is a Cracker Barrel and Zaxby's on the other side of I -16. Either side of the Interstate would be fine as there are plenty of fast food and other things easily within walking distance.
