    Model S AP crashes

I do not think you are supposed to "feel terribly safe" when you turn the AP on. It is implicit that you are testing beta software, so while the overall dynamic changes, you must stay alert and in control of the vehicle. The car operates differently from the traditional mode, but it is no time...

Not so sure anymore if I should get the P100D when I read all these threads...

I love the service, mostly because I do not have to waste my time taking for oil changes every 3 months, I like the culture of the company, and the only time I needed a service (for 12 V bat), I got a Tesla Model S no problem. Everyone at the SC was just superb. BMW etc. dealerships, actually...

    keeping it plugged in

The only thing that is going on has to do with the annoying Southern California Edison rate structure and difficulties in changing it, and that I mostly charge at work. When I get back home, there is little or actually no need to charge, but I still do want to keep the car plugged in overnight...

    keeping it plugged in

Thanks, but what if you plug in but immediately CANCEL charging (while leaving the car plugged in). Will on board electronics and battery maintenance be powered by the battery pack, 12V battery, or the external power? Judging from the vampire drain that is still there, it is probably the 12 V...

    keeping it plugged in

For a number of reasons I often do not charge overnight when I park my Model S 90D in my garage. Tesla recommends to have the car "always plugged in when not in use". But does it mean *plugged in AND charging*? Is it ok to cancel charging after plugging in overnight? I know if you plug in and...

    No More Envy

Besides my model S, I like riding horses (mild sarcasm). Both modes of transportation make much more pleasant sound than vroom-vroom cars. The sound comfort is unmatched. And I can't imagine my hot girlfriend going vroom-vroom like Lambo - an amusing comparison.

commasign got it right, seems like something sponsored by the Koch brothers. Model S whine

I think that's normal (depending on how load it is, and what kind of whine. I have the same type of car, S90D, and it does a bit of a electric noise during acceleration and regen in 10-30 mph range, kind of like a jet airplane taking off noise.

    Armored Tesla?

Maybe this is why sometimes MB and BMW etc. are associated with thugs - hopefully Tesla will escape that association for any of its models (not offering armored versions).

    Salvage Car Owners Support Group.

If the sole point was simply getting a working car, I would agree. Alas, there is a sizable group of tinkerers out there that would pick a project like that out of curiosity, and challenge, with a bonus of a possibility of having a car at the end of it. After all, how else those "game changers"...

WARNING: I rear-ended someone today while using Auto Pilot in my brand new P90D!

OP: - please remember to update us on what Tesla will report on the incident after analyzing its logs. My concern is this may get lost in the thread - it appears the thread now has a life of its own, and it took a turn toward discussions of a more ..... philosophic nature .

WARNING: I rear-ended someone today while using Auto Pilot in my brand new P90D!

OP, Thank you for for posting about this problem. I just got back from a quick 2-day round-trip drive to San Francisco (~700 miles), where I used the AP frequently. SF has the most horrible traffic. At speeds below 25 mph, I had the setting at 2-car distance (yes, Tesla calls it 2-car...

Is this normal, or an unusual amount of issues for a 3 week old car?

I have had my car about four weeks now (90D), and I had none of those issues. Some slight "spaceship" whining noise, like in some airplanes during take of, but I don't mind at this point. You definitely should take it to a SC and fix all these issues. Also let them check the door panel again...

12 V Battery: positive terminal disappeared?

Thanks, I looked in the manual but couldn't find anything, barely anything on the 12V battery at all. I guess I will have to keep digging, or maybe ask the guys at the Service Center. They don't seem to be to eager to share technical details, as far as I can sense.

12 V Battery: positive terminal disappeared?

After taking delivery of my Model S 90D about a month ago and staring at the nosecone since, I finally decided to take it off, primarily to locate the 12V battery terminals. Just in case. Based on youtube videos and various posts here, I fully expected to find a red-colored positive terminal...

    Depreciation Modeling/Guestimate price per mile

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

This is normal, I got the delivery estimate posted only when the production was complete, which took 8 or 9 days. Same day got a call from the DS to schedule pick up. So no worries, it will happen soon. Best to spend your time preparing other things, like the outlet, paint protection, garage, etc.

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

Is the 12 V battery available for purchase at all? I know about warranty, but still if at any point it needs changing, would that be relatively easy to DIY? I am thinking well beyond the 4 years, as this is a car I plan to drive "to the ground".

Near annual replacement of 12V battery is typical according to Tesla Service Tech

Please do not put the note on an F-250 or Dodge RAM covered with dirt. Nothing good would come of it.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Same here, switched today to "production complete". At the same moment, got a call from the DS. Pick up appointment on 12/1! So basically, everything was as originally scheduled, with "early December delivery" being 12/1. order placed 10/9; confirmed 10/17; in production 11/12; production...

  44. C

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My options are: standard multi-pattern seats, standard 19' wheels, regular roof, autopilot, piano black, premium package (interior/lighting). The DS told me that the production will start "mid-November". I guess it means 11/15 or so. Delivery early December, did not change from get go.
  45. C

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Mine is 90D Deep Blue Metallic, confirmed 10/17, still in queue (VIN 1129xx). So it is not the Metallic Silver paint. Nor the seats. It's something more complicated. The DS says it will be in production mid-November, and delivery early December as originally promised.

Does anyone think it makes any difference…………….

I think this is an awesome car that I plan to keep long term, and not jump from one to another frequently. With that, I hope that the official production year will only matter for things like insurance and registration. With that, I am happy that my car, which is to be produced end of November...

Agree with that, I have multipattern seats and seem to be in the "somewhat delayed" category. I estimate my time from "confirmed" to "in production" will be about 25 days

I also got a blue 90D on order. My DS called yesterday and said production will start "mid-November". I guess that means the week of 11/15 or so. Delivery is early December.
