I know it's frowned upon, but I take my Model X through an automatic car wash about once a week or so. I bought an annual pass because I don't have the time to hand wash my car or the money to pay someone else to hand wash it. The car wash I use is not touchless, but so far I haven't noticed any...
@ernies If you set your mirrors to tilt while in reverse, you can adjust the mirrors in that mode, then when you put the car into drive, the mirrors go back to where you had them programmed before. I was afraid that adjusting the mirrors while in tilt mode would affect the mirrors in their...
@Hawkeye , do you have a photo of your spoiler? Tesla tried to tell me that mine was fixed, but it doesn't look @WilliamZ fixed spoiler. Mine looks like the active spoiler in the aerodynamic mode. Also, you can try checking your settings. If you have he active spoiler, there should be a setting...
@Monkey , I'm in the same situation. I ordered one off of Amazon recently, and am trying to decide if I want to try to install it myself or if I can find a shop that won't charge an outrageous amount for the installation. I'm also in the Denver area so let me know if you find a decent shop...
Ok, that kind of answers my question. I was mostly confused because I expected it to be visible from under the plastic cover in the frunk. If it's way down in there and not visible then that makes sense why I didn't see it even though I have the premium upgrade package. It does stink if we...
I tried locating my HEPA filter, but I didn't have any luck finding it. I read somewhere that it should be in the frunk area, but I looked under the plastic cover behind the frunk, and didn't see it. Can someone please post a photo of the HEPA filter/location in their Model X? Thanks in advance!
Thanks, guys. I thought it looked like the active one when I picked up the car. But my DS assumed it was fixed because he had heard the new 90D's were coming out with fixed spoilers. I'll call my service center and have them look at it. I just thought maybe they are installing the fixed...

@WilliamZ , your fixed spoiler looks a lot more horizontal than mine. Hmm. If you look in the settings under Controls > Settings > Service & Reset > Spoiler, do you see Spoiler? I have it on mine with the option for "Automatic" or "Extended", but it doesn't seem to have any effect...
I just picked up my 90D tonight. The spoiler is fixed. It doesn't retract when the car is off, and it doesn't adjust the angle at high speeds. I was expecting the fixed spoiler to be more horizontal (like the marketing photos), but it is angled down quite a bit. Interestingly enough, there's a...
Thanks for the update @Monkey ! Yeah, hopefully Tesla updates the Model X so that the front license plate holder on newer ones attaches the same way as the new Model S. I almost never park somewhere with a meter maid so I think I'm going to hold off on attaching the front license plate.
I'm...
Doesn't the VIN include a letter for the model year? I remember hearing that all of the Model X's that were delivered last fall were given a 2016 VIN. I imagine since Tesla doesn't really do model years, they probably adjust the VIN number closer to the actual calendar year than most...
@Monkey , one of those is mine! I'm picking up my pearl white 90D & ultra white seats and carbon fiber trim on Monday!
Did you ask them to install the front license plate holder, or did they install that by default?
My VIN is 42XX. I was told a week or so ago that it was in production and that they expected it in Denver in 1-2 weeks. But then yesterday my new DS (former DS quit) called saying that it was in Denver and that it's almost ready for delivery. I'm scheduled to pick up on Monday. I could have...
I got the call today that my X arrived in Denver, and it's ready to be picked up later this week! It sounds like the prep work at the Service Centers is a lot shorter now. I think they finally have most of the kinks worked out at the factory.
Anyone know Tesla's return policy on the wall chargers? I bought the wall charger less than a month ago, and it's still new in the box. Can I return it to get the new one? Or at least get refunded the difference in price?
@Diavel, Elon tweeted a while back (after reports started coming in about the white seats tearing) and he said that they were redesigning them to use a backer material to strengthen the seats.
I saw my first X in the wild in Colorado today. It was at Canopy airport parking near DIA. It also had a front license plate holder installed. I have to say, I'm not a fan of the front license plate on the X. I can't figure out how to upload a photo from my phone so I've shared it through Google...
Thanks for the info PGeer! I'm glad to hear you've been taking your X through an automatic car wash without issues. I'm probably going to end up taking mine through my local automatic car wash.
@aesculus thanks for the trip info in your 90D! Is that the standard Tesla navigation in the first photo? I thought Tesla used Google Maps navigation? Did you notice if your spoiler was active too (goes down when off, and lowers above 40 mph)?
Can someone please measure how far behind the car the trunk extends when open? That seems to be one of the few dimensions that I don't think has been shared anywhere. Thanks!
I've read posts on the Model S forum of owners that take their Model S through the automatic car wash (the non-touchless car washes). So far the only issue that I've heard of is that the rims can get messed up from the track that pulls the car. However, with the Model X, I'm also concerned...
@Whocares, if that was the Denver Service Center, it's possible that those X's are for the Meet the X event later this week. Hopefully, I'm wrong and those X's are production ones waiting for delivery.
@Marcus, I just came across this user that stole your youtube video and reposted it on their account. I tried to report it to YouTube, but I guess only the owner of the content is allowed to report it. My Tesla Model X P90D - a thousand things that will eventually break - YouTube It looks like...
@Marcus and Cattledog, Thanks for posting pictures! I'd love to see more pictures (including the ultra white seats) when you have time. The pearl white looks great. I'm happy I went with it.
Yay, I'm in too! Reservation Sequence number 21,156! Reserved September 27th, 2015.
Pearl White 90D, Ultra White Seats, Carbon Fiber, Autopilot, Premium Package, Sub Zero Package, Accessory Hitch
Thanks, Cattledog. That's about the only owner that I have seen post a photo of a pearl white model x. I think I might just pull the trigger on the pearl white. In all honesty, I don't think I'd be disappointed with any color.
kcdyke, would you mind posting a few more pictures of your pearl white Model X? I'm trying to decide between the pearl white and the midnight silver. I haven't been able to find many pictures of the model x in pearl white. Did you go with the tan leather or the white?
Can anyone direct me to some good pictures of a pearl white Model X? I'm having a difficult time deciding between the pearl white and the midnight silver metallic. I really like the new front on the Model X and I think the pearl white does the best job of showing it off. I'm leaning towards...
My theory is that a decent number of invites are waiting to configure until they see an X in person. I think Tesla slowed down the invites so that people waiting to see one in person don't fall too far back in the configuration line. Which would be a nice thing to do since the early reservation...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the first two batches of invites were around 2500 each. The I seem to recall someone in the upper 4000's not getting an invite with the last batch. So that means they've invited even more people this time (at least 3000, hopefully more). It's good to see...
I've seen a couple of Model S's out in the sun that look light tan/champagne. I thought those cars were Titanium. I haven't seen the Midnight Silver Metallic in person yet, but I was under the impression that it looked like Chamath Palihapitiya's Model X.
From Bonnie's screenshots, it looks like they'll be building the P90D's first, then 90D's, and 70D's last. Under the different options they list early 2016, mid 2016, and mid to late 2016 in tiny print.
Thanks guys! I know it's going to be an excruciatingly long wait so I'm trying to not get too excited yet.
I actually went to the Tesla store in Denver before making my decision, and the first sales rep I spoke with tried to talk me out of reserving the Model X! He said it would be a 2 year...
