This morning I was successful in programming HomeLink on my MX with a new Chamberlain garage door opener. I just followed the instructions on the Tesla screen. Worked first try. Consider resetting your Tesla computers and try again.

One more comment. I often leave my MX overnight without plugging in. Having it plugged in all of the time is not necessary at all. It is just Tesla's recommendation.

The Leaf does not heat or cool its battery. Which may explain why it loses no charge over night. But your concern may be overcome by the fact that the Tesla's range is significantly more than the Leaf.

If you read the manual it suggests always having your car plugged in when not in use. This way any energy needs are provided by the plug, not the battery. A large part of energy use when parked in very cold, or very hot weather, is keeping the battery heated in cold weather, or cooled in hot...
