    MX 0-60 Increases! (75D and 100D)

To everyone arguing that Tesla's policy of rolling upgrades somehow harms its reputation with its owners, there's this. According to Consumer Report's annual car buyer survey, 91% of Tesla owners would buy again. No one else even comes close. That number was 72% for BMW, and 69% percent for...

    Heads-up on front door latches

Yup. One month old, on Van Ness where ... some upscale car dealership used to be. Bentley maybe? It's gorgeous and HUGE. Must cost a mint.

East Bay Service Center on its way

Had my car serviced at the brand new San Francisco service center this weekend (didn't even know it existed), and the service rep, seeing I was in from Oakland, told me that the East Bay was on tap for its own service center soon. I asked where, and he said either Oakland or Emeryville. No...

    Heads-up on front door latches

This past Friday, the latch on my driver's side door died, leaving me away from home with a door that refused to latch shut. Luckily, I wasn't too far from home, and the danger was minimized, but even that two-mile drive was disconcerting, with the door wanting to swing out on every right-hand...

    Change to Slacker algorithm?

Yes, definitely. I'm kinda glad myself, since the palette of songs appears wider and more varied than before.

Is AC powerful enough for AZ summers?

I was driving through California's central valley, temps of 97, and the air had no trouble keeping the cabin cool. However, when you supercharge, you lose air. It redirects it to cool the battery during charging. So staying in the car was unbearable. We had to find a place to wait. I...

    Umbrella Mode from the Outside

Have you guys tried umbrella mode? I did, and there was little difference in dryness between that and the regular full open. It just made it harder to get into the car without bonking your head on the door.

    Firmware 7.1

I have 2.20.45, installed at service center during visit. The two new things I noticed was the HPWC thing noted above, and a double click opens up driver's door. Auto present still broken.

    Non-PUP Front Door Opening

After the new update, double clicking on roof of fob opens the driver's side door. I have PUP, so can't say whether that functionality works for everyone. My auto-present is still broken.

Why? Not being snarky. Genuinely curious. Maybe I'm missing some use of wifi that everyone else is enjoying.

Welcome to the club! I've had that twice, service center had to fix both times.

    Wiki Model X Reset Techniques

Apparently the regular window reset, already posted at the top, works most of the time. I guess there are times when the window is less responsive to the regular technique. I mean, in a perfect world, it would calibrate properly the FIRST time one goes through the process. You shouldn't have to...

Model X tidbits from the earnings call

The 3 will be fairly barebones relative to the S and X, that much is crystal clear. The door handles are not motorized, there is no dash display, I wouldn't expect biodefense mode, etc. On the other hand, it'll have auto-pilot hardware, be electric, an be super fast, so it'll still have the...

    Wiki Model X Reset Techniques

Reposting this from another thread, as I was trying to figure out a front driver-side window that had lost its calibration: --------- So I went to a service center today and had the window fixed. This is what they did: At first, the guy tried the regular window calibration trick—push and hold...

Damaged by FWD on the first day...

The car will definitely move. At dropoff, I start pulling away from the curb even as the door is just starting to close. You get warning beeps and the dash display shows the car with red overlay where the door is. So moving is possible. Though I could see being so overcome by sensory overload...

First Glitch - Pass Window Won't Go Up

So I went to a service center today and had the window fixed. This is what they did: At first, the guy tried the regular window calibration trick—push and hold to the bottom, wait a few seconds, then raise and hold. But of course, when the window hit the top, it would immediately close to the...

First Glitch - Pass Window Won't Go Up

I've had that several times. Recalibration the window (the tip above) has never fixed it. If you had what I've had, then the window won't adjust downward when the door is closing. So if you attempt to close it with the window up, the window will clang at the top. When it's working fine, before...

    Front Passenger Door Not Operating

My X has been to the service center twice because of this problem. No user fix for it. First time they "recalibrated". Second time, they installed new latch and still had same problem. A software update supposedly fixed it. Still, the door makes clicking sound when opened which worries me...

Post Initial Problems with the Model X

Potentially good news. Got call from service center. They said they installed the new latch and it still wasn't working. So Tesla engineering had them install the latest software update, and THAT fixed the problem. So maybe this is a software problem for everyone after all. Fingers crossed...

Post Initial Problems with the Model X

I had the now infamous door latch issue. Took it in to service center and they claimed it was a calibration issue, got it back to me a couple of hours later. All was working fine! Or it did, for two weeks. Then it happened again. They took the car away, and when I called for a status update...

    "Hubris"...how true

I love benefiting from every one of those features that Musk added with his "hubris". I can't think of one I would remove. If anything, I wish there were more, like rear view mirror with camera. Yeah, it means that Tesla came up short in its quarterly deliveries, but I certainly don't care...

    Front End... Hmmmmmm

I'm guessing you guys didn't pay close attention to the X reveal? When I first saw it, I HATED the front, and I wasn't alone in that sentiment. Now, six months later, I LOVE it, and so I love the 3's front (very similar). It's very different than the norm, so it takes some getting used to. I...

    Model 3 is beautiful!

While I'm reserving judgement on whether it's better or not until I get to see it in the flesh, the dashboard on my X is not hard to see behind the steering wheel. In fact, I carefully adjusted the steering wheel so that I had a perfect view to the instrument cluster behind it. That said, I...

    The Tesla dashboard design team

The instrument panel has one thing that's useful: the speed gauge. Mine defaults to album cover art on the left, energy usage on the right. I actually like my energy usage on the big center screen, and I don't need album art. I can also glance at the center screen if I want to know what is...

    The Tesla dashboard design team

You're not a fan of one Tesla's signature features, so therefore they are going in the wrong direction? Actually, YOU are going in the wrong direction even considering a Tesla if having a big screen dash bothers you. That's their thing. Why would they abandon it? As others have noted, I find it...

    Question for current Tesla Owners.....

I considered myself part of the "club" the day I started rooting for the company, years before I got my car. Heck, I think anyone who cares about the future of our planet is part of the club. And if they don't care about that, just want to go fast, they're also part of the club. Let's make...

Was your Model 3 reservation symbolic?

I have no need for another car after taking delivery of my X two weeks ago (we are a 1-car family). But I put in my reservation, and I look forward to the early delivery (existing owner + California). I'll figure out what to do with the car when it's time to configure—maybe buy it for my mother...

    Model 3 is beautiful!

Right... Tesla didn't just spent YEARS designing this thing. They probably just mindlessly hacked something together late last week, "Crap, we need to reveal something next week! But don't give it any thought, it's not like we're betting the entire company on this car or something." Obviously...

Driver door makes clicking sound, passenger door no worky

I had that, and the door wouldn't open from the outside. I tried all those recalibration suggestions in other threads. No luck. I was passing near the Dublin service center so I stopped by without an appointment on Saturday. They took a look, said "we'll get back to you." Today they picked up...

6 seat versus 7 seat - need HELP please

Our car is a soccer-team mover, so we needed all seven seats. But my 12 and 9 year olds love the back row. And if they have friends with them they fight over who gets to go in back. I hate the blocked view put the back window, cut other than at I like having the extra seat. But like I said, I...

Does any else regret buying a Model X?

None, and they have gotten a huge workout. First of all, it's the soccer carpool-mobile, so in and out several times a day, with a car packed with kids. First time I took it to the kids' school, about 20 kids swarmed it and opened and closed ALL the doors in the car (including trunk and frunk)...

The Model X and the lament of the introvert

So I've settled on one big thing I absolutely hate about the car—the view out the rear-view mirror. It's not just the middle row in a 7-seat config that basically blocks 1/3rd of the view, but the dark tint as well. I can't see anything going on back there, so it's virtually worthless. I know...

Road Noise ? That bad ?

Those complaining about road noise had defects in construction. My X appears to be perfect, and no real road noise beyond wind and tire-road vibration. It's a non-factor. The tire-road thing can be weird coming out of a driveway or pulling out of a parking spot with the windows open. Since...

The Model X and the lament of the introvert

I didn't get the sunshades. Forgot to ask. It hasn't been an issue even though the sun has been shining the last few days. But I'm Latino, and have a much higher tolerance for sun than others might.

The Model X and the lament of the introvert

There are much nicer pictures floating around of Xs than anything I could manage. But as for the experience, I'm coming from a small car, so it's a bit nerve-wracking trying to gauge how much space around the car as I traverse an urban landscape. I keep imagining scraping the door on day 2 of...

The Model X and the lament of the introvert

Oh, the car barely gets a glance ... until the FWDs open up. Today, the word had spread all throughout the kids' school, so when I showed up, a whole new crowd of kids was ready to run through it. I grin and bear'd it...

The Model X and the lament of the introvert

So I picked up my X yesterday (VIN 8XX), great experience down at the factory in Freemont. Kind of scary driving a car this expensive, but it didn't take me long to start appreciating autopilot on the drive home. Dropped my wife off at her home office, then went to work. My partner decides...

Does any else regret buying a Model X?

So I'm a huge Tesla fan and booster, and am psyched to be picking up my X tomorrow. BUT, there is no excuse for the kind of poor customer communications we've...

How many people are taking delivery of their Model X in March?

It was one week from my car entering production and being finished (including QC). The only reason I don't have the car now is a lack of earlier appointment slots. Looks like they're really cranking them out now. I saw the shorts on Seeking Alpha gleefully pointing out the low number of Xs being...

CA Residents - this car costs $2,500 MORE after 3/31/16

I haven't seen any 90Ds delivered at all, so did I miss something? I think it's been well established that VIN numbers don't equal delivery order. You might have a gripe down the line if this bears out, but that doesn't seem to have happened yet.

    Model X Delivery Update

I doubt Tesla looked into your IRS filings to determine your income. It's easier to blanket all Cali buyers if, indeed, that's their motivation. More likely, they just want to run up easy-to-deliver cars before the end of the quarter.

    Model X Delivery Update

I hadn't seen that. It would explain why California has been pushed up the queue for the 90D folks. Thx!

    Price hikes

Not sure why you are surprised about the existence of inflation. A gallon of milk will also go up in price. It's a fact of life. Waiting has its costs. On the flip side, your X (should you still buy it) will be higher quality than the beta testers who got it early. Everything is a tradeoff when...
