Is Electrify America TRYING to Ruin EVs and Adoption!?

My first real road trip (one needing a single charging stop) using EA on our R1T was a complete disaster. That was May/June of last year. EA for awhile called me every few weeks with "updates" and "someone is scheduled to fix it next week!". They stopped calling around October when I told...

MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 Real life experience

I have towed it with the Y around Central Texas (and the Y is lifted with MPP). But now have an R1T but haven't towed it yet except to just get the trailer out for cleaning and testing. The Y does an amazing job with AWD.

MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 Real life experience

I put CC2 on my old 2018 Model 3 and while they did great overall, they definitely lacked summer performance if you drive more aggressively.

Does MY build after Nov 18 need VCLeft replaced to get trailer lights working?

On my Y the trailer blinkers flash at twice the speed of the headlights are on (I assume running lights). The car also reports a wiring issue (red trailer). That said everything looks like it is "working". My trailer was modified by the previous owner with new lights so wasn't sure if it is...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

I added a 20w solar battery tender that sits on top of the propane tanks to keep the trailer 12v charger. I don't have a picture, but it's worked out well.

    When does homelink auto skip?

I have experienced the auto skip when backing out/leaving (and there is a message on the screen) in both our 2018 and 2021 with two different garage doors so I know it is a thing (and not due to setup error or missed signal). It happens so infrequently that I never bothered to try and...

Tesla Non-Refundable Order Fee Increased to $250

You don't have to trade in, sell it yourself or use one of the third party car buyers. Probably should have got a realistic value for the old vehicle before putting down a nonrefundable deposit. It is unlikely Tesla will refund this, don't shoot the messenger, but it sounds like the $250 loss...

Sold my car - new owner can't add car to their account w/o new docs

I was replying to the OP who is/was the seller. I too was the seller and had no problems transferring app/account ownership.

Sold my car - new owner can't add car to their account w/o new docs

Hmmm ... I just did this this weekend, from our phones on the website. I removed the car from my account and the new owner added it by VIN to their account. It only took a couple minutes.

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Climate (weather) definitely has an affect. High humidity climates in particular. I believe also having the car sit in a mild temp are (garage) also contributes (verses leaving it parked outside to bake).

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I wonder if spraying the new filters with some anti microbial/fungus spray would help.

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Oh man, I thought I was a genius. You might link to your 3D print, you might be able to sell them. I actually called Tesla first to buy a spare cover to drill into, but they said it's not a serviceable/sellable part. (It is not in their parts catalog).
  13. dduffey

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I'm not sure it is due to that, as I have tried filters with plastic/nylon housing as well as adding a standout frame to keep the filter off the fins. There is already a foam border that should keep filters off. Plus the stench doesn't seem to be just on the lower part/half it seems like it is...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I have tried everything suggested and more since 2018. They all are temporary bandaids (for both my 3+Y). This is my latest attempt, drill a hole in the cover for the kilma hose and make a tight seal to pressurize the foam so it squeezes everywhere. (2 cans) Then use a heavy duty rubber plug...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I have a 2018 and 2021, they both suffer from the same. There haven't been any improvements AFAIK except the location of the filter cover screw.

2021 Tesla Model 3 Performance All Season Tires?

Same (2018 RWD LR 18"), don't recall the OEM tires, but replaced with the same size. But the cross climate 2s feel like they deform/fold in corning quicker than the stock tires. Definitely quicker traction control kick in (and loss of power). On our 2021 Y we put on Bridgestone QuietRack and...

    Add Lights to Bike Rack?

I used these to wrap around my bike rack and works well folded and unfolded. https://a.co/d/bofrQoc I also used some black zip ties to makes sure it sticks and a 4 pin to 7 pin adapter. For some reason it doesn't work on my R1T the same, but haven't troubleshoot why yet.

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

The cost for the spray includes the additional time it takes to wait for the spray to drain. I don't think $105 can is too far for this extra work and material. It's "more" labor than sliding in a filter. Of course, having to do it 2x a year is excessive.

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Is it a 3 or Y, that's where a majority of owners have this problem. Neither of our Ss or X had this smell.

    CNN denouncing FSD and Tesla

Uh, I did read this thread, did you? "Driver's hands are off the wheel (and moving away), FSD is clearly not engaged ... in this clip." All the viewers see are the impacts but no proof and then the one proof that is provided (in this mass distributed video) is false.
  22. dduffey

    CNN denouncing FSD and Tesla

This is clearly false, not even just "misleading". Driver's hands are off the wheel (and moving away), FSD is clearly not engaged yet the video claims "Actual Full Self-Driving Mode" in this clip. Presenter then asks viewers to take political action, it's over 250k views just on this one...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I don't think Tesla will fix this in existing vehicles, maybe a new design in the future. Regarding if this is a design flaw, and just ignoring the smell, I believe it is. I can, literally in the true sense of the word, do a tire rotation faster on our 2018 than I can do maintenance of the...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

This is very annoying to hear just because you and a couple of your friends don't have this problem to dismiss as not a design issue. I have been cleaning and changing filters several times a year on our 3 and Y since 2018, trying all the "tricks." We have been in the same house /garage since...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

I think I've tried every combination of filter, cleaner, and settings since 2018 (Model 3 & Y). Just did another clean and filter change. Because my cars are garaged and sit for extended periods of time, I've put a couple of moisture absorption devices in the garage and cars. The garage does...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

You may be in to something. My 3 is always garaged and only 26k in 4 years (no commute). My wife's Y immediately got the stink after sitting in the garage for over a month without use (vacation). That said, none of our other cars had a problem in the last 12 years in the same garage except...

UGH - The smell of it. [AC Smell]

Both our 2018 3 and 2021 Y have this issue and use kilma and change filters twice a year. In the past 30 years only had a similar smell in one other vehicle (which had a TSB to fix). It may not happen to everyone, but we are convinced it is more likely to happen on the 3 and Y than the average...

    Teslas in Hawaii !!

It is well under 200 miles for an entire loop/round trip, not sure I get the anxiety. Kaanapli to Hana tip to tip is only going to take 25% (real use, not EPA) on a 2018 Model 3.

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

Lasts a few months/weeks? That's not solving the problem. If it lasted for 18 months to give time to replace the filters once a year on your own schedule, that is a solution.
  31. dduffey

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

The RAV4 fix was major deconstruction (removing seats and dash) to replace the AC box with a new design. I can dig up the TSB if needed.

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

I thought the same, I have a 2018 3 and 2021 Y that both stink at least once a year, often change out twice. The Y started stinking almost immediately after delivery. I too have overheat on fan only, but keep them garaged all the time. Not allowing the car to "bake" in the sun may be part of...

Tesla service forcing me to update to v11

I have seen other folks have issues after replacing a windshield until the firmware was updated. So what they are telling you is true. Can it be done with a reflash of the same version? Technically, probably, but it is an unusual request they may not know how to address.

Smelly stinky socks / mold in Model 3 AC

Our 2021 Model Y stunk from delivery, had to pay to have it replaced. Our 2018 Model 3 stinks every year. I have tried changing in the fall, but the best time is to wait until it gets humid in the spring to do a Kilma/KoolIT clean and change the filters to get through summer. I'm convinced...

Model Y Hitch Receiver: Rise Limit Question

I flipped a Reese drop hitch to get the .75" height. I also raised the Y with a MPP lift kit + arms for an additional 1.75". Then I used smaller diameter tires (with appropriate load rating) on the trailer. I also changed the jack wheel with a lower profile metal "foot". If I knew I could...

Delivering Austin Gigafactory Teslas within the state of Texas

Are you sure? I had thought the new vehicle has to be physically out of state when the transaction happens. Then you "bought it" out of state. I recall an Elon comment that stated that he would "prefer" if Texas laws where changed so that Tesla would not need to ship the CT out of state...

2021 MY vs. 2018 M3, cabin filter mods

Following up, the stink came back on both the 3 and Y. On the 3, last fall I used two cans of Kilma and a "HEPA charcoal" filter. Now humidity is raising the stink is back. I was hoping that by doing it in the fall the dry winter air would have killed off anything lingering after the clean...

Model 3 owner claims Car froze while driving, stuck at 83MPH

Model 3 owner claims Car froze while driving, stuck at 83MPH

I suspect that by "police help to pull over" that the driver called 911 and the police asked him to use the brakes and pull over. I also suspect that he quickly learned that the go pedal and brakes work and that the cruise and speed wheel still works. He never shows video of using the drive...

To me it looks like the accelerator works. At the end of the video you see him following a semi, then driver uses the accelerator, the screen remains frozen and but he passes the semi at increasing speed (or the semi by chance started slowing down but I don't see brakes). There is nothing...

DIY Car Wash Guys - How do you avoid dust coat?

I have blue 3 and white Y and I feel the same, it seems that these cars show dust and dirt more than our Toyota/Honda/BMW. I am using a ceramic spray. In prior vehicles I used ONR, but don't really recall what I used for wax. I felt I didn't have the same dust and water spot problems.

    Kids bike rack

I had a Reese Explore 4 bike from U-Haul for $99. It is sufficient for 3 bikes and local travel. Not sturdy enough for highway travel or 4 bikes in my opinion. I am now using a $300 4 bike Tri-Max tray with an 8.5" hitch extender (to enable the hatchback) that I am happy with for the money...

Any options that charge two cars at once?

You should be able to. I have two gen2 and limit it to 40 amp combined. When both are plugged in charging is split 20/20. An adapter should not pull more than the HPWC allows. I agree with OCJeff, you might first try and get away with just a single charger and adapter first. While we do...
