USB-Mouse connection blocked in Firmware Version 2017.50.2

Yes. I was getting tired of my daughter asking me to skip songs from the back seat. I bought her a USB mouse for Christmas so she could control it from the back seat. I tested it a couple weeks ago and it worked fine. So today I was excited to give it to her, but when I showed her it didn't...

USB-Mouse connection blocked in Firmware Version 2017.50.2

Same here! I just called Tesla and they had me do all sorts of resets and such. I also plugged in two wired USB mouse and they didn't work either. They could remotely see the mouse but there was no blue dot on the screen.

How much balloon noise is acceptable

I'm a bit confused by your post. Does the sound occur when you accelerate, and sometimes when you regen? If it is the same high pitch sound I had (which is not constant during the drive), then replacing the switch is the solution. In my case they replaced the Drive Unit first due to some...

How much balloon noise is acceptable

Interesting, thanks. It definitely seems like a -highpitched sound, not the milling sound I've heard in some videos.

How much balloon noise is acceptable

Some good news... Talked to the Austin service center today and they're going to replace the drivetrain. Only downside is they are booked until Jun2. Thanks everyone for your feedback.

Thanks everyone. I guess I just need to push it with them.

How much balloon noise is acceptable

I have the dreaded high-pitch squeal sound, kind of like a leaking balloon. When we first got the car at 19k miles, we'd get this sound occasionally when accelerating quickly from 20-40 MPH. But it's gotten much worse since then. We have about 25k miles on the car now. Sometimes now it does it...

Tesla recalls entire Model S fleet for seat belts

I just dropped into the Austin Tesla maintenance center today. They took care of it without an appointment. It took 5 minutes.

Tesla recalls entire Model S fleet for seat belts

This is correct. It's a recall, but it's really just an inspection. You can set up an appointment online, but it's really just a five minute inspection. I was driving by the Tesla maintenance shop and just popped in. They took care of it without an appointment.

    Frustrations with door locks

I don't think I can educate all of the teachers on how to open the locks, but I like trils0n's idea of putting it in park again. Thanks for the suggestions.

    Frustrations with door locks

I'm frustrated with how the MS' door handles function. I can't be the only person who drops a kid off in a "drop off line" at school. You roll up slowly, then have to unlock the door so it can be opened from the outside to let your kid out. The problem is that the MS doesn't let you unlock the...

    Homelink very flaky

I have a different HomeLink problem. It seems that the homelink has to keep a constant connection with the door to work. I tap the button before I turn onto my driveway because it's very steep. The door starts to go up, but then as I turn in to the drive and the nose of the car is pointed in to...

    Change in "roll" on hills

As a postscript, it turns out my Tesla (Vin 28,xxx) does not have hill hold. It was added sometime afterward. It has hill assist, which keeps the car from moving for a split second. Turning on creep mode helps a little bit on slight inclines.

How to tell if a Tesla has premium sound

This might seem like an odd question, but... By looking at the car or its display itself, can you tell if a Tesla S has the premium sound package or not? For example, is there different speaker placement or a feature on the display that's different? Thanks

    Change in "roll" on hills

I've had an issue the past couple days, perhaps not coincidentally after upgrading to 7.0. The car seems to have more "roll" when stopping and starting on hills. This afternoon I parked on a very slight decline. I put the car in reverse to back up and the second my foot was off the brake the...

+1 It's totally fair to criticize the company for poor execution of a launch event.

Reactions to Model X reveal event

I came away from watching the release with two thoughts: 1. Tesla never meets a deadline. It's even late for a launch event. 2. Elon is a horrible presenter. I hope the car does really well and the doors don't become a problem. At this stage in the company, especially with Model III several...

Tesla Model S CPO Website - Now Live

Stacey is not on TMC, but you're correct that this insurance quote mix-up was posted on the board. I posted it, and I'm her husband. I know some people are griping about the headline, and I don't blame them. All I'll say is that anyone who's been in journalism knows that the headline process is...

I got a "NO LICENSE PLATE / REGISTRATION" ticket today.

I just picked up my CPO from Tesla this week in Austin. Before we came in, they instructed us that they've heard of some people being pulled over with the California "tag". Although they say the California tag is legal, they suggested getting a Texas temp tag to avoid any issues. You can...

    Windshield UV blocking specs?

Thanks for the info. When I dropped the car off this morning they said that the Tesla already has some tinting in the windshield. If I added any of their products I'd go over the legal tinting limit in Texas. So that made the decision easy.

    Windshield UV blocking specs?

I'm getting our windows tinted tomorrow. They have an option for a clear UV blocking film for the front window that blocks 29% of UV rays. I know the Tesla windshield has some UV blocking. Does anyone know how much it blocks? Is there a further breakdown of UVA and UVB? Thanks!

Insane insurance difference between 85 and P85D

I know there have been threads about insurance costs, but I found this really interesting. We're picking up our 2014 S 85 CPO tomorrow, so I called our Farmer's agent (Texas) to have him add it. Using the VIN #, his first quote was nearly $3,500 per year for the Tesla. Right now we pay about...

Tesla Model S CPO Website - Now Live

I'm not so sure. Looking at Hank's historical data, they seem to be selling several every day. Maybe more, but I'm assuming the ones listed for 20+ days might be removed for a price change. Will prices drop in the future? Of course, once people trade in for the X and newer versions. The...

Tesla Model S CPO Website - Now Live

So what do you think a fair residual is on these CPOs? For example, I'm looking at a car that's not yet 2 years old, has about 20k miles. They're asking 70% of the original sales price, although if you consider buying this new gets you the EV tax credit it's more like 78% of the new cost. Does...

CPO: What questions would you ask?

Everyone keeps saying "drive the car before you buy it". What do you recommend for people like me that live in Texas? We don't have any local pre-owned due to Texas dealership laws.

Smart Air Suspension in the "real world"

Thanks Harry. This is great news -- I thought I was going to have to buy a 2014 to get this feature. Thanks everyone else for validating its usefulness.

Smart Air Suspension in the "real world"

I'm a little bit confused after reading your responses and after talking to a Tesla service center today. Smart Air Suspension in the "real world"

Does the GPS feature of Smart Air Suspension work as well as claimed? My main reason for getting Smart Air Suspension is for our steep driveway. I like the idea of the car automatically rising as I approach the driveway. How does this work in practice? If I'm driving down my street about 100...

    Comparing 2013 v 2014 v 2015

I can't find a good comparison between model years. I'm thinking about buying a CPO and I need to understand what "hardware" comes with each year. For example, I know auto pilot features were installed starting around October of last year. What's different about the 2015 I test drove and what...
