Salvage P85D trunk latch issue. HELP!!

The linear actuators aka struts do have positions sensors in them. It sounds like some sort of jam protection mode, telling tge control module something is in the way of the tailgate when closing. Not sure of the reset procedures

2012 Tesla S Body Upgrade to Facelift Style. New Project Process...

As @Exiom mentioned. The led lights from the facelift run on can bus to control functions. The nose cone original model uses simpler on/off power inputs driven from the body ecu. On the subject of the sheet metal, you might want to look into a 3rd parts front bumper and grill set.

Model X smash repair in Sydney

You can always take it to the service center. From the pics, looks like all front sheet metal and subframe set at the minimum. Tesla set a few rules for front end repair in their Technical service bulletins that approved pannel repair shops have to comply with. The front suspension one is listed...

Awww crap, I painted my Calipers

Whilst you can get plastic brake hose clamps very cheap at most parts stores, one good trick is to push the brake pedal all the way to the floor with a 2x4 between the pedal and seat. Fluid will come out until the pedal reaches the floor. At that point the outlet holes in the master cylinder...

Blog SpaceX Considered Possibility a Bullet Caused 2016 Rocket Explosion

I remember reading something about this when it happened. I think the gist of clickbait at the time, was their competition had a building with direct line of sight from the launch. Didnt believe it then or now.

New laser and glass puddle light

They do look very good on the lightning output. I do agree with Gary above. You may want to send them a better vector image of the Tesla logo. I do wonder if the logo is slightly off on purpose for copyright reasons?

    Hello, rear radar :-)

@lunitiks good find on the ble antenna. Now that you mention it. Its located in the exact place I would expect a standard rear RF smart fob antenna to be fitted. 20/20 hindsight most manufactures will use two radar units on the outboard edges of the rear body, to ensure as little blindspot...

    Help identifying

It looks like the lock tab needs to be pushed down.i would put a small screw driver in between the square part of the connector and the black part of the speaker. I suspect the speaker is present in all vehicles. But not connected at the other end, if premium sound option is not present.

    P100D Salvage in England

@Jagman1961 most air bag units are triggered the same . You need input from the external crash sensor/s (g force sensor) to deploy. Most crash sensors are self resetting. They are a surprisingly simple device. The vehicle shouldnt be able to deploy whilst sitting still.

Tesla Start: Community Colleges Offering Tesla Technician Training

Very interesting program. Out here in Australia. Most of the hybrid training at technical colleagues is supported by Toyota and less so by Nissan. It was a big success for Toyota and the obvious tax write off to donate cars, engines gearboxs, ect. It later paved the way for a program called T3...

Now Shipping: Custom Tesla Roadster 2-Piece Slotted Rotors

Correct on both counts. Nothing stopping you spraying your pads before the install. I normally spray the pads, then start replacing the rotors. By the time you are done. The pads are dry. In winter I tend to run the can under warm water to speed up the drying time or lay the pads on a bearing...

Are BT OBDII a security/safety risk, or a big one ?

So there is no way to change the default passcode? Whilst it is a possible attack vector, just keep in mind. You would have to be within 10 feet of a powered dongle and even then. The tdc connector is connected to the internal Ethernet switch. So should be read only as I think the switch...

    P100D Salvage in England

Unfortunatly you will need tesla GB to put it in you name for app access. Although having said that, more than one way to skin a cat. 2). A nice used charge cable would come in handy too. Could probly get it cheap Since its not attached to vehicle, most likely would have not been handed over...

Should I maintain my roof for $1800 or wait for Solar Roof?

I would do the mantainance and wait for solar roof. Think about it this way. Would you regret it later if you fix roof 100% and go traditional solar. Im in the same boat, 1 big hail storm from a replacement roof. Still patching and hoping Australia gets solar roof soon

Hey @Jagman1961 since you have "Karen's" address. Why dont you send her a letter and ask if she has the 2nd key? Also since you ask about the pyro fuse. Think of is a an explosive non reset saftey link. Its connected across the large high current terminals. Untill the srs ecm sends out crash...

Tire punctured by not so sharp rock

@turbogolfcart I have seen rocks puncture tyres before. Your third photo is the telling one. If you look close, you will see the exposed edge of the rock has been ground down from driving. That rock was in there for a while, the weight of the vehicle slowly forced it through the tread.

Tesla Model 3 Down: Won't Power Up, and is Inaccessible

Unfortunatly most cheap jump starters will still arc if you accidentally leave them turned on. The internal relay is not ment to close the high current contact untill connection is made but you get what you pay for. The other thing to think about is the positive lead can also arc. Not just the...

Long term Storage effects on battery

@philmall intrested to hear more on this plan. Are you planing to register it here when landed? As you are going to store it for 12 month, are you bringing it as a personal import? I wonder if a USDM vehicle will meet requirements for the Raws/sves. Or if it would need to be converted to RHD.

    Grid Support from Tesla cars

I think bidirectional pw3 could change a lot of markets. Currently for myself and baillies. We get slaughtered on export to grid. But if we were self-powering on peak loads. Could be a good thing. I see it no more wearing to the battery than a full charge/disscharge cycle each day.

    Grid Support from Tesla cars

Unfortunately I dont think Vehicle To Grid is on Tesla's roadmap. I do agree with the thought and have high hopes, that power wall 3 might have a high rate charge/discharge function

Attaching a transponder above the headliner

The gps trick works because the IR coating on the glass blocks both fps and rfid signals. When using a gps signal strength app on your phone, you look for a spot that has the most signal. Then roll through the rfid tag reader knowing you found a good spot for the tag

    New location - Cremorne Vic

Seems like a very long but narrow building. Might be hard to run even reduced service operations, but the back of the building opens to the lane way. You could squeeze 1-2 super chargers out front between the footpath and building, would be reverse in only. Now if they could purchace the 3...

@SilkySmooth have you got a hand held gps/navman? Move it around the windscreen to find the sweet spot fpr signal penetration. Or you can use a gps signal app on your phone

Car veers to the left during hard acceleration, to the right when the throttle is released

Artsci, do you know if the Tesla paint shop had your subframe out during repair? Or is this something new ish? It realy sounds like an alignment issue due to something flexing under load. I would also be looking at the integral link for excessive play.

Towing Screw-Eye, Can't get it to screw in

Good to see this worked out in the end. I wouldnt use oil as a lubricant though. Oil tends to attract airborne dirt, which encapsulates moisture. I would a anti sieze type product, both whilst threads cut through the paint and periodic maintaince. Had a quick look on the net, this is what we...

Tesla door handle failure - pivot gear (anyone have one I can buy?)

The closest stuff I have found https://www.amazon.com/3M-08620-Window-Weld-Ribbon-Sealer/dp/B0039752R2 The trick to reusing the original sealer is to gently pull back the weather seal and use a razor blade to cut the sealer as it streachs. After that a bit of heat and it sticks like new
