Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

A dyno capable of measuring at the microsecond level is not accurate enough to measure something at 10 milliseconds? No offense but now it sounds like you're making up stuff as you go along. Good luck on your future endeavors...

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Took about a second to google it. The below has "Up to 1,000 recordings per second (per channel)" which exceeds your requirement by 100 times and is capable of measuring thousands of HP. Let's strap a P85D and measure it. How about it? Chassis Dynamometer Specifications Here's another one...

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Wait a second, so if you place a P85D on a dyno, it WILL produce the advertised 691hp?!?!! Whoa, my mistake. All this time, I had incorrectly assume that the P85D was incapable of ever producing anything close to 691hp. My apologies!!!

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Google Ford horsepower lawsuit. If you Google horsepower lawsuit, you will get many results of companies getting into trouble for lying about their hp rating including lots of lawn care companies. If companies making lawnmowers get punished for misstating their hp, its hard to imagine Tesla...

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Yes, because that's what responsible companies do. Ford suspended shipments of the SVT Mustang and fixed the existing cars for free when they were caught fudging their hp numbers. The didn't ship the mis-advertised cars for an entire year while they sorted out the mess.

Towing Capacity 5000 lbs, no mention of mileage

I can see that if there are no bikes on it. Like intuitively, it looks like driving with a truck's tailgate down would be more aerodynamic but having it up is actually better. But if the rack is actually used with bikes, absolutely no way.

Towing Capacity 5000 lbs, no mention of mileage

There doesn't have to be any controversy if Tesla provides factual information about its towing capabilities/range and stop trying make claims that are not true. After watching the launch video, my co-worker has grand plans of buying an X and towing his camper around the US supercharging for...

Very Difficult decision..Canceling my Sig X reservation

Wired also wrote an article raving about how wonderful the model S autonomous system was when there is no such thing. It's pretty clear that wired just makes things up without evidence.

    Supercharging While Towing

Man, you guys got me beat. I usually take about 15 minutes because I'm paranoid and triple check everything including the trailer lights and signals with a helper. This is in broad daylight too. I imagine if you were to tow with the X, there will be times you will need to supercharge at night or...

    Supercharging While Towing

I would think that if you're towing, you will need the most range possible so you're not going for a quick 30 minute top off which would be what, less than 100 miles of towing range? You're more likely to stay the whole 1.5 hours to get 100 percent. To answer your question, coming up with an...

    Supercharging While Towing

I trailer my motorcycle to the track about once or twice a month. It takes more more than a minute because I triple check everything to make sure it is safe and secure. You obliviously have more time and patience than I do so kudos to you. If I had to repeat this process at every fill up and...

    Supercharging While Towing

The actually hook may take a minute but there's so much more to it than that. Finding a space for your trailer, unhooking, jacking it up, securing the trailer so it doesn't get stolen, etc. is going to take more than a minute. Doing it one time for a long trip is not a big deal, having to do...

    Supercharging While Towing

If you think you only have to disconnect your trailer every 250 miles, you will be very disappointed. A more realistic range is probably 125 miles.

Letter To Elon Musk Regarding P85D Horsepower – Discussion Thread

In America, Tesla would have to: 1. Modified the cars to produce what was advertised at no cost to the owners or 2. Purchase the car back at the full original selling price no matter the age or mileage There's already legal precedent for both options.
  17. H

Tesla blog post: AWD Motor Power and Torque Specifications

Not sure what the above rambling is about but Elon claims the P85D makes the most hp at 90% SOC. Charge the car to 90%, strap it to a dyno and measure the hp. Compensate for drive line loss and you have the HP of the p85d. That's it. You're done...

Calling P85D owners world-wide for survey and complaint letter

Tesla can try to obfuscate it much as they want but here's how you do it: put the car on a dyno, measure the HP, account for drive train loss and you have your HP. It really is that simple.

[Resolved] My P85 has developed the milling noise and Tesla won't fix it.

I just found this interesting video. It shows that Tesla do use ceramic bearings. Would that eliminate the electrolysis theory? Or are the bearing races still metal and experiencing electrolysis which would wear away the ceramic balls?

[Resolved] My P85 has developed the milling noise and Tesla won't fix it.

This is no way scientific but it seems like the majority of the owners are seeing DU replacements at the 2 year mark. While I'm not sure if its a fleet wide issue, if 2014 models start showings signs of DU failures next year, then that would be more evidence supporting your view. A bigger...

Analysis: Evolution of Model X second row 2012 - 2015

Hmm. All the child car seats I've messed with has a strap in the back that goes under/through the headrest and hooks to a bar in the back of the seat. If the headrests are truly fixed, I wonder how that is going to work?

When will Tesla answer all of our questions about the X - Official launch speculation

People make the mistake and assume that if something is "different", it's innovative. Different means different, not by default better or worse. Tesla definitely made the X different with the Falcon doors and rear seats that do not fold. Is it better or innovative? I guess we'll soon find...

If there is a specific cause, only Tesla knows and they are not letting anyone else in on it. It could be a cheap fix or it could be catastrophic. The only thing we know that's true is that two of their prior explanations were b.s. If I remember correctly, one was that it was a loose wire...

Personal Theory on why Folding Seats won't Matter - Autonomous Trailer Hitching

The cost is only one of many downsides to this solution: 1. towing a trailer = less range 2. towing a trailer is more dangerous than driving without one 3. less secure 4. even if hitching and unhitching is autonomous, it still can't beat not having to hitch in the first place 5. maintenance of...

Which door style would you prefer, given what we know today

Please, door dings are an everyday reality and not even remotely made up. Now if I were to say, "what if, hear me out, what if the safety mechanism failed on on the falcon door and instead of stopping when encountering resistance, actually decapitated a passenger. Would Tesla be responsible?"...

When will Tesla answer all of our questions about the X - Official launch speculation

This is the recurring theme on this board. I remember the thread about the towing capacity. When some expressed disappointment that in reality, it could only tow 5000 pounds, half the...

Which door style would you prefer, given what we know today

Sounds like another made up problem to justify an imperfect solution. Keep them coming. It's entertaining.. Here's a serious question though. With conventional doors, if I open them into something and it gets damaged, it's 100% my fault. No dispute there and I bear full responsibility in...

Will the second row seats fold flat? If so, how?

Just a note. If you inquire through email, Tesla used to confirm that the second row does not fold flat. The most recent response I've seen has them saying they do not know which is odd because we're only two weeks away.

New renderings of storage space and 2nd row seats! (9/15)

I 100% agree with you except Tesla already did that with an all-electric drive train with the longest range vs any other car maker. Where they are screwing up is when they take proven components and try too hard to make themselves different from the others. Cars while not biological evolve...

So by not replacing your DU, they turned an annoying issue into a dangerous one. Nice.... If it's any consolation, Consumer Reports says the issue is DU insignificant so that should make a lot of S owners feel better.

  47. H

New renderings of storage space and 2nd row seats! (9/15)

Sure it does. If the change is aesthetic and folding seats can simply be designed in later, people wanting an X may decide to wait. If the change is due to structural issues and the X will never had folding seats, people on the waiting list may decide to cancel and purchase something else.
