    ClipperCreek J1772 plug not cooperating

I agree that the switch is in the wrong position, but there doesn't seem to be any way to make it latch. 1. It's inserted fully, and even substantial force won't make it go anywhere. Its flush with the handle. 2. Could be... I can manipulate the thumb switch at the top of the handle to make it...

    ClipperCreek J1772 plug not cooperating

Sadly, even with force, I couldn't get it to work. :( I'll try calling the city, but I doubt they'll do anything, because it is a free station. I had thought that this was a problem with the J1772 adapter and not the station.

    ClipperCreek J1772 plug not cooperating

I rely largely on local charging in my hometown, which has a bunch of these ClipperCreek stations near my office. They look like this: All of these charging stations use a J1772 plug, which I connect to my J1772->Tesla adapter, which connects to my car. However, the way these plugs work is...

    ChargePoint and PlugShare Experience

That's really weird. Maybe there's a problem with your card? I use Chargepoint on average 2x per month, and it has never failed to turn on from the first try.

    Audi Q6 e-tron EV

There's not an official number that I'm aware of, but I can't imagine it'll be less than the Model S. The Audi in the article claims to have 500HP, and the P85D has that much in the rear motor alone. From Elon's "three dog day" announcement, we know that the Model X will make 0 to 60 in about...

    Audi Q6 e-tron EV

Has less horsepower than a Model X, its most direct competitor, and starts at $120,000 (€110,000). Things aren't looking too good for Audi in this market unless they can come up with some solid advantages over the MX.

I think that's fully appropriate for when the vehicle is being driven by a valet.

    P85D rear oil leak? WHAT

I thought the Model S didn't have a transmission... at least not in the normal sense. Why would it need transmission fluid?

Valet mode is also supposed to limit the power output to prevent abuse.

    Postponed delivery

I ordered on June 6th. It was in production for 31 days. "Preparing for Pickup or Delivery" for 8 days now. Still waiting for a chance to set a delivery appointment. The original pickup date was supposed to be July 1st. They're almost a month late, and I'm picking up directly from the factory...

    70D stuck in production?

Same thing happened with my 85D. Started production around June 18th. It was in production until July 19th. Still waiting for a delivery date, even though I live 10 minutes from the factory, and it's been ready for almost a week. We must have hit the lottery or something -__-

Has the way you feel about Tesla changed the way you speak about Tesla to others?

[/COLOR] I'm confused. Is there some recent announcement or decision on Tesla's part that prompted you to post this poll? And to answer your question, I'm pretty lukewarm about Tesla right now. On the one hand, they've been exceedingly cordial and helpful to me. On the other hand, they keep...

3 day old import P85D crashed while using TACC

Not sure how this thread devolved into a discussion on the definition of "autopilot", but regardless of what the feature is called, this is 100% the driver's fault. Not even 99.9% -- 100%.

    90D 0-60 Times?

The weight should be about the same. Elon stated that the increased capacity is a result of a change in the battery chemistry; they added some silicon to the anode. Unless you're talking about a minor change on the atomic level, there won't be much difference in weight. The battery is only...

I dunno... those 25 miles would make the difference between range anxiety and comfortably arriving at my destination. Not all locations have superchargers nearby. Why are people saying only 15 miles of extra range? I thought the S85 had 265 miles EPA to the 70D's 240? That's 25 miles.

    More powerful motors?

Ah okay. Thanks for clearing that up. I had thought that the D-variant of each model simply had a duplicate version of the rear motor installed in the front. In hindsight, that doesn't make sense.
  27. alexrov

    More powerful motors?

Seems like you contradict yourself here... You're saying the P85D is just a P85 with an extra motor, but you said in your first point that P85 all the way down to S40 have the same rear motor... So then the P85D without the front motor = an S40? Where does the beefed up rear motor come into play?

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

You're comparing an ICE car's performance with a full-electric, which is apples and oranges. When I buy a car, I expect to be told the peak engine output. If you expect to see that at the wheels 100% of the time for any car you purchase, ICE or Electric, then I don't think there's anything else...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

There you go; some actual data. You've gone and proven yourself wrong. First of all, this test was done before the OTA update that increased the P85D performance. Second, the Porche Panamera Turbo S is a 500lb lighter car than the P85D. Third, if the P85D really had only 555HP, then why does...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Funny enough, ICE-vehicle companies like BMW do exactly what you're railing on Tesla against. They advertise the power of the engine, not the amount of power received at the wheels.

Over day to decide: change my 85D to 90D?

If I had a shot at it, I would take the $3k upgrade in a heartbeat. It doesn't seem like a huge amount of money for a larger cushion against the odd emergency where you don't have time to go top up. I'm afraid that ship has sailed for my in-production 85D. With things being as they are, I think...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Yeah? 'cause 561 posts of complaining about how Tesla unjustly cheated you of the horsepower you deserve is supposed to build credibility? P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Considering that the P85D has proven notoriously difficult to dyno, I would love to see your multiple results showing that it produces only 555 HP as you previously claimed. On second thought, never mind. You've more than adequately proven to me that you're being disingenuous. I'm out.
  35. alexrov

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Then I guess I'm not sure what you're complaining about. You fully understand that the kind of acceleration that the P85D has with its mass is entirely impossible if it were actually running at 555HP at the shaft, and yet you're whining that the dyno doesn't show the advertised power output. Did...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

Perhaps you could brush up on your physics before you put your foot deeper in your mouth. The amount of energy required to attain a particular speed increases exponentially, not linearly. This is the case for any engine, electric or otherwise. Here's a real-world example with three different...

    P85D and P90D horsepower disagreement

I don't know what you think that graph proves, but I don't see it corroborating what you've said. I would imagine that it's painfully obvious that at different velocities, you can expect different power output from the motor. That's the case for ICE vehicles as well, except replace linear...

    Ludicrous? RWD 70?

I don't agree. Tesla delivered on their promise to boost acceleration with an OTA update, which was the 3.2 to 3.1 change. I think that heckling them for more free upgrades is unreasonable. If they were able to further increase performance without additional hardware, then I'm quite certain they...
