For sure. You are right on the cusp of contact and delivery day scheduling. Only thing you are waiting for now is them to make batch of your type of car.

Agree. I'm paying $1400 for full front end (mirrors forward) and that's to have the best guy in town do it (in nicest part of town). Don't do less than a full front and pay less than $2K for it.

^^^ I was in the EXACT same boat. Got the call today, said they would make exception and give a 2016 VIN with delivery around Christmas. Is perfect because for tax purposes 2015 is better!! Still trying to digest the fact I will have a Tesla in about 3 weeks!!!

Tesla has the ability to reset that algorithm and range calculation which would be like the day you got it. Then, can watch and see if it happens again. If you don't get the fix, request this. It will likely take manager level approval but believe me, they can do it.

If it makes the OP feel better, I am the 70D who parks next to you and has 85D envy; it's all about perspective

I am in the same boat. Figured why not wait the extra few weeks and know you have the 2016. My DS easily took care of this by setting delivery for early February and confirmed with a production manager at the factory my VIN would be a 2016. Enjoy!
