    Today's Roadster Orphan

Ha, thanks! The R80 plus all the CF upgrades were too good to pass up. I'm familiar with the dispute that caused the car to be salvaged and it should never have affected the price, but it did. If you or anyone is in the market for a Roadster, this is the best deal in the world right now...

I installed the Inokinetic Monoballs. They were great at first but started wearing out after a year. I'm about to replace them with the OEalt version they make: OEalt Bushings — InoKinetic

    483 headlight project

Of course. I believe it was $1,400. Though a bit of that was for the headlight reconditioning.

    483 headlight project

Hi folks, 483 had some headlight issues... the usual stuff, like condensation and peeling clear shield. Since the headlights had to be pulled apart, I asked the headlight crew (XtremeHID in San Jose) if they could do something interesting. I thought the result was pretty cool and wanted to...

    Owl dash cam

Hi folks, I installed dash cams on both my Roadsters, and thought I'd share my experience for anyone else considering a camera. I highly recommend one, as I've used the footage in insurance claims. I chose the Owl dash cam. It has two cameras, one front and one rear, both recording in HD, plus...

    Modifications to your roadster

@Bunnak Can you post a link to the LED headlights? I'm just about to replace mine. I'm also curious what bulbs you're using for the little parking lights right next to the low beams.

Just ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights

I'm very happy to be! The company reached out and asked if they could turn my car into wall art. And they very kindly sent me a copy, which is now framed and hanging in my garage! :)

Just ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights [Update: installed w/ pictures!]

In a previous thread, I mentioned that I had 483's vinyl design redone permanently in paint. I also ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights. Here's the work being done: About six weeks later, she's finally done, with the Bespoke51 taillights. Here we go: Here's a close-up of the...

Just ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights

Well, for those of us who doubted Bespoke51, here's some good news: these taillights are very real and very cool. I received mine yesterday and installed them tonight. Some pro pictures are coming, but here are some teasers.

Looking for a Wheel / Rim

There used to be. Now we just call or visit the service center. Echoing what Xlr8 said, it may be easier to refinish the wheel. There are even mobile repair services for curb rash. Ordering parts from Tesla is usually a last resort for me. :)

The return of #483 (part II)

Thank you! Nope, not a salvage title. The repair work looked dramatic. But it was far below the value of the car and my insurance paid for it.

Roadster Future - Time for a Wake Up Call?

Open sourcing the Roadster isn’t a bad idea. But I didn’t buy the Roadster because I wanted a DIY car. What we need is for Tesla to support a car that it sold as recently as six years ago. I’m sorry that Tesla feels they have more important priorities now. They sold the Roadster. Support it!

Roadster Future - Time for a Wake Up Call?

Agreed. At this point, the Palo Alto service center doesn’t even return my calls or emails.

Just ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights

Totally, I wondered the same thing. I love the taillights and want to support aftermarket options for the Roadster, so if I can do that without risking anything, I'm game. Let's see what happens. :)

Just ordered the new Bespoke51 taillights

A few weeks ago, I took #483 in to have her vinyl design removed and redone permanently in paint: Here's a progress photo halfway through the work: I also decided to order the Bespoke51 Roadster taillights since they had to remove the taillights anyway. Here's the photo from Bespoke51's...

    Temperature gauge question

I wondered that too. I rolled the dice on pressing one button, and it promptly crashed the VDS.
  37. josh-io

    Temperature gauge question

Aha. You are right, @DeedWest. Even in debug mode, my 1.5 doesn't show numerical temperatures. But at least I can get them in the diagnostic menu. Thanks everyone for your help!
  38. josh-io

    Temperature gauge question

Interesting. I was able to get into the diagnostic menu, but didn't see anything in there about debug mode. Any idea what the path is to get there? And yes, after seeing all the options, I see why Tesla wants to keep it locked down!
  39. josh-io

    Temperature gauge question

Thanks @gregd! How does one get into diagnostic mode? I have an OVMS module, but it never did work quite right. And I'm about to repurpose the OBD2 port for a dash cam.
  40. josh-io

    Temperature gauge question

Folks, I have a random temperature gauge question. On my 1.5, my temperature gauge has blue/yellow/red blocks only—no numerical temperatures are shown. But I've seen photos, like the one attached, where the actual temperature reading is present. How do I get mine to show the numerical temperature?

    Today's Roadster Orphan

As another reference point, in November 2015 I bought #483 with 105,000 miles for $38,500. It had just had a refurb battery installed, getting about 178 miles on a standard charge.

The return of #483 (part II)

I installed it under and behind the seats, in the foot wells, and underneath the upholstery on the door sills. The Dynamat itself isn’t too expensive (I have an extra unopened box if you want it). The real cost was spending my afternoon installing it. I’m not sure I would do it again, though...

Just put a Pioneer Apple CarPlay Receiver in Roadster

I'm really interested in the single DIN version for my 1.5 (Pioneer AVH-3300NEX). But I don't think the screen will clear the windshield wiper stalk when it's deploying/retracting. Anyone have experience with this?

The return of #483 (part II)

It's crazy how hard things are to retrieve after they fall into the "black hole" underneath the driver and especially passenger seats. I don't carry coins, but after this experience, I might starting checking my passenger's pockets too. :D

The return of #483 (part II)

I previously posted about #483's journey from accident victim to head-turner. To recap: Before: After: Left unfinished was her interior, which had worn out after 120,000 miles. The leather was cracking, the color didn't make sense with the new exterior, and the broken door sills had...
