Does anyone charge using an extension cord from their dryer plug?

Like a few folk on here, I have a 50a RV extension cord that has the 14-50’s neutral cut off so it can be used with either dryer or stove. There are lots of articles on the forums here around how to do that. I only use it for travelling but could be a full time deal if needed. Read up so you...

Used Model S signature for 27k, 52k miles

As a previous Signature S owner, I’d only consider buying that car if it had a pack replacement. Mine that I sold last year was still on an A pack and I didn’t want to own that out of warranty, which would be your situation. FYI I sold a near perfect shape Sig Red S with 100k kms for $30k...

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

Got my 2017 S upgraded to MCU2 last week in Toronto - pretty happy with it so far. I imagine that MCU1 has run its’ course and the new software expected later this year will probably make it worse. I did get it for $2k CDN which is fine by me. My screen had a light yellow ring before even...

First time CPO experience- 2017 Model S P100D- need some advice :)

I’ve bought two CPO/used Tesla’s in the last 5.5 years in the Toronto area. I won’t talk about the first one in 2015 much as that was when they delivered it like a new car. They even replaced the nosecone and a bunch of other things and spent an hour with me. Days gone by.... Last July I...

To MCU2 or not to MCU2?

Same here - I paid out of pocket on my Sig S (which I no longer own), but I clicked and submitted as soon as I got it. It'll go towards MCU2 in my '17 S.

Real world range in the North

Usually warming up your battery by finishing charging just before leaving makes a huge difference with long distance range in the winter. The car also doesn't have to wait for 30+ minutes for full regen either. As a fairly early owner, I'm used to all the tips and tricks to getting more range...

2017 Cars On Tesla Site Used Inventory

I bought a used P100d last June from Tesla. All used Tesla’s generally have FSD added in to increase their sale price. It of course did not have AP 3 installed. I had to ask to have it installed when I was first in for service - they verified that FSD was in the car and then they did it. No...

Bodyshop with Tesla Experience in the GTA

I've used Excellence in Vaughn twice over the years. They were decent. They used to be the only place in town that could do Tesla's but I'm sure that's changed.

    Am i buying a lemon?

I’d just think that there’s starting to be good value in the 2-3 year old model 3s now. Just look it over closely when you pick it up and decline delivery if something doesn’t look or smell right. I’ve always been paranoid that my previously owned S’s had a smoker in it before, which is near...

    MCU 1 Recall - Canada

I paid $3600 to replace the MCU early last year for this issue on my Sig. I’ve since sold the car. I’m hoping I can get that cash back. Ironically, I’d probably use the cash on an MCU2 upgrade on my 2017 S. The car is so fast on the outside and so sloooow on the inside. :)

Buying a used Model S, 400kms to closest service center... Thoughts plz

A 2017 Model S? Probably a safe bet. Older than 2014? I’d probably pass. When I was selling my 2012 Sig in the summer I wouldn’t sell it to interested parties out East as they were too far from a service center. There was always something going on with my early car and couldn’t do that in...

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

These rates are very similar for used cars too. I got I believe 2.7% ish back in June for Used from Tesla. Not clear on what recent rates are but they’ll still be very competitive.

Sub Zero Package -- Is it a must in cold winter climates?

I told my wife the other day that the heated steering wheel in my P100D I just got this past year was worth the $65k upgrade from my Signature itself. :)

winter is coming..how do you prepare your tesla for winter beside winter tire swtich?

I just do tires now - and that’s it. I used to do more stuff thinking I’d keep a car longer than five years and/or I’d get it back at resale but neither has made a difference for me. So just saving the money on my most recent S protection like PPF, etc

Model S needs a major visual overhaul, and Plaid announcement means it's not happening [Speculation]

I’ve been pretty happy with service in Toronto over the last five years. I won’t get into the redesign debate (love(d) both my 2012 and 2017 S), but they REALLY need some more colours.

Used price higher than new - What am I missing?

I was told by a Tesla advisor that used 3s don’t sell in QC due to the rebates still in place. They usually take the trade ins and send to Ontario or elsewhere with less rebates.

    Toronto Order/Delivery Nightmare!

My wife has a X5 with the driver assist package. It’s as good as first gen AP. Vehicle is a great SUV - I wouldnt personally compare it to a Y though. She won’t drive my S. Being in any Tesla makes her a bit nauseous. I pretend like I mind. ;)

Model S Depreciation curve flattens when?

I bought my first S as a CPO for $80k Canadian. It pretty much depreciated $10k a year after that as I sold for $30k after 5 years. I just bought another Used S from Tesla for $96k Canadian and also plan for a $10k a year depreciation on the way to a Cybertruck or a S redesign in a few years...

amazingly good and bad service experience

I think the service centres continue to be overwhelmed. My observation over the last five years of ownership is that the quality and attention to detail has reduced a fair bit since the volume of cars on the road has gone up. It’s logical for this to be the case until more service centres are...

2012 Model S P85 Signature Red Fully Loaded - Toronto, Canada

Totally miss the colour. Tesla only offered $20k Canadian and I sold quickly for $30k. I think people are asking too much for older cars that are on the edge of no battery/drive unit warranty.

    CPO purchase shenanigans

Glad that worked out. I would say to all considering a ‘CPO’ that you have to have a lot of patience. I’m waiting for a new to me S to be delivered, and it’s taking weeks. Tesla sales folks have little influence over service’s schedule to slot in for certification, delivery etc. It’ll be...

Order an S now or Wait Until After Battery Day?

No way Tesla will announce anything during the quarter that could impact quarterly deliveries. A late Sept announcement would result in a bunch of 'last minute' S/X cancellations that they wouldn't want to have happen.

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

FYI - I updated the radio to LTE when I had to replace the MCU last fall. Thought that was a side benefit of the MCU upgrade but no, it was an extra $315+tax. And to be honest, it's been less reliable for streaming than the 3G was. I wouldn't waste money on it again, unless you're getting an...

I did a lot of my Model S five years ago. It did take a lot of the damage for sure, but actually absorbed some sunscreen so I had permanent hand marks on my frunk. :/. Regardless, if you’re going to trade it in to Tesla Or most places they won’t care about too many stone chips. So if you’re...

    Financing Tesla vehicles in Canada

Just to add - if you don’t like the rates or the lender, you can email Tesla finance to get them to re-evaluate. They gave me Scotia at 3.99% so I asked them to try with RBC for the 2.35%. They did it and now I’m set. :). Not sure why they don’t just do that, but caveat emptor!

    Tesla ignoring older cars!

One of the reasons I sold my Sig was this. Loved the car but clearly support will be sunsetted at some time. And it had most early car issues and the original battery still which was starting to concern me.

    Premium Connectivity in Canada

Just an FYI for those with older cars. I sold my Sig S last week and of course one of the key questions from prospective buyers was if the unlimited supercharging and connectivity carries over to the new buyer. I called Tesla and based on the supercharging ‘code’ on the car it should (although...

Thinking about switching to a Performance 3

Thanks for this post. I have both a CPO 2017 P100d and a 2018 M3P deposited for (long story). I just sold a Sig P85 S and was just going for the M3P then a P100d popped up. The S is 50% more price wise than the 3; almost all other features are equal. I always thought of myself of a S driver...

2012 Model S P85 Signature Red Fully Loaded - Toronto, Canada

Hi All - decided to buy a 3 and Tesla's trade in offer was pretty low. Looking for $32K Canadian ($24K US) firm, which is a pretty solid deal. Still looking for a local buyer to Toronto if possible - COVID doesn't make selling private any easier! Note I had the MCU replaced last fall and TPM...

    CPO purchase shenanigans

Is it the titanium P90D that was on earlier this month? I did notice it had snows in the pics and wondered if they would update those before delivery. I took a CPO delivery in July 2015 when they did a real CPO experience. They replaced the nose cone and a lot of other things. Now that my S...

Early Car/A Pack Owners as concerned as I am?

Hi all - saw the article over at Business insider around the early cars having known battery issues but shipped anyway. Having a car in the first 2100 units and still on an A pack makes me a little more nervous. Leaked Tesla emails tell the story of a design flaw discovered in 2012 in the...

    Model Y for Canada!

I spoke to a Tesla rep yesterday about the wait time for a current Y order. He said the factory is currently set up for production for Asia/Emea and NA is scheduled for Aug, so he is expecting another mass delivery event like the Model 3 in Sept/Oct. So not sure if I’ll place an order or wait...

    Model Y in Canada

Sorry if this was discussed anywhere, but is anyone expecting a mass delivery experience for the Y eventually like the LR 3's back in June 18? Or is the amount of orders and/or production capacity not the same?
