What should I do with my Model 3 reservtion

I'm torn between keeping the reservation because in 2 years they might still have a long wait.

What should I do with my Model 3 reservtion

I've been invited to order by Model 3 and it says 4 weeks for delivery. But since I placed my deposit I ended up leasing a Model X instead. I could order it and try to sell it? I could find someone and order it for them? I could just wait and use it when my lease expires? What do you guys...

I just leased my Model X in Michigan from Ohio. I had no issues with the process except it took a few weeks to get my plate.

Tesla roof in the upper Midwest?

I live in Novi, MI and have solar panels and they work pretty well but I could not justify the price of the solar roof. With a 6KW system I get about 900-1000 KHW per month... Which is pretty good. We also get DTE solar credits which boosts our payback. Now we paid about $20k and should get...

Is KBB crazy... or am I?

I you're the kind of person that wants the latest tech you're in trouble with Tesla. They upgrade so fast it's impossible to keep up. I suggest leasing your car. Shorter the better.

Thanks for the feedback. It sound like I'm in the right ballpark but it's about twice what I paid for my Mercedes.

    Insurance in Michigan

Seeing as you're not even from Michigan this thread doesn't even apply to you. So I don't see why you're trying to police this fairly simple question that can really help members of this site that live in Michigan.

    Very High Electric Bill

I parked my car at the Detroit airport in the dead of winter for a week and lost only about 30-40 miles of range. So I don't think that's significant enough to double his monthly electricity.
  12. MichFin

    Very High Electric Bill

You should be getting anywhere from 2-3 miles per KWH depending on how aggressively you drive. Either way that's about 400-600 KWH and not 1200+. You should look at your bill and see if it was estimated in previous months. This happens sometimes when they don't take regular meter readings so...

    Insurance in Michigan

I have a 2015 Model S 85D and I'm paying $995 for 6 months through Geico. I don't have any tickets or anything and neither does my wife. How does this compare with other Insurance carriers you might be using?

Electric GT World Series — Based Entirely On the Tesla Model S

Electric GT World Series — Based Entirely On the Tesla Model S

I have a Model S so I'm not some Tesla hater. But you have to admit after watching that video that it's a different kind of fire. Gasoline goes boom... these batteries are going to spread out and individually fire off. In an environment where big accidents happen all the time how are they...

Electric GT World Series — Based Entirely On the Tesla Model S

They are. At the very least it's going to be real bad PR when those little batteries are flying everywhere. Crashed Tesla explodes into a massive fireball

Electric GT World Series — Based Entirely On the Tesla Model S

Is it just me that thinks it's a bad idea to have these cars race. I can see it now when there's one of those crazy accidents where the whole car gets ripped apart and the batteries start shooting off everywhere.

Tesla to install Superchargers at "all" Fred Meyers store locations?

You're right I missed that on my second pass. Thanks for the correction... Although I'm sure the manager is overstating it.

Tesla to install Superchargers at "all" Fred Meyers store locations?

I think everyone is misreading the quote "They’re [Superchargers] being installed at Fred Meyer stores all over, it just happened to be our turn" all over != every store Just means all around the country.

    Superchargers occupied?

I would just start with the basics and not over think it. 8 spots available 3 spots currently charging.
  22. MichFin

What is unlimited lifetime supercharging worth?

I probably use about 2000 miles a year with the superchargers in my travels. The superchargers are priceless but paying a fee would probably be minimal. Consider paying for 400 kwh x .25 cents = $100 a year

Major automakers to create ultrafast chargin stations in Europe

This is great news!!! More charging location the better for everyone. In the end it really only comes down to three things price, battery and design. Those will drive success for any car company in the future

    Message to Trump

I'm not a Trump supporter but Tesla is in line with his vision. Both Tesla and Solarcity have moved to bring back manufacturing to the US. They're both bringing America to the forefront of their industries and doing it right here in the U.S. All the German auto makers are scrambling to...

    Tesla battery warranty enhancement?

I think we can both agree that if you charge someone for something you were giving away for free you're raising the price of the product. On top of that they raised the price of the car by 2-3%. You wouldn't raise the price of the car unless you felt your sales were good enough to fully utilize...

    Tesla battery warranty enhancement?

Free charge for life is big sales perk and they also raised the price of the car. You don't do these things if you're having trouble keeping the factory humming at capacity. Simple marketing 101.

Bolt EV: 2017 Motor Trend Car of the Year

I truly believe that the Bolt deserves to be 2017 car of the year. They have accomplished a wonderful thing by producing the first 200+ mile EV for less than $40k. I have seen one as the neighbor has a mule and it's a very nice looking car. That being said the Chevy Cruze hatchback is it's...

    Tesla battery warranty enhancement?

Tesla just raised the price of their cars and eliminated free supercharging for life. These are not things a company does if it's trying to boost sales. This shows me that the factory is probably humming right along at near capacity and they can sell everything they make. With demand this...

some examples of where level 5 autonomy might have difficulty

For ride sharing systems like uber that operate in a fixed environment and at lower speeds I see level 5 happening soon. Also, in those type of environments the car can call for human help and have someone at a control center take over. For us Tesla drivers we can expect to see level 3...

AP 2.0 Retrofit sounds possible - or Am I crazy

Everyone worried that they didn't get autopilot 2.0 stop worrying. Your autopilot 1.0 will be better for the next 6 months anyway and full autonomy is not happening any time soon. Even once it's ready which probably won't be until end of 2017 then the Feds want to test it for 1 year. So the...

Letter to Mr. Musk from a 1-day old outdated Model S owner

Actually the Tesla's are retaining their value better than Mercedes or other luxury cars. Tesla Model S retains its value better than gas-powered cars in its segment, losing only 28% after 50k miles

Letter to Mr. Musk from a 1-day old outdated Model S owner

I've said this for the last few months... Don't buy a Tesla ... Lease it. The technology is moving so fast that in a few years you're going to want to upgrade anyway. I bought my Model S July 2015 and I've already missed out on many desirable features besides Autopilot 2.0. Deal with it...

    Blasting into the future

Missed by many is that Tesla will have over 20k cars on the road fleet learning with the fully autonomous hardware by the end of the year. That means around 20 million miles a month and growing every day. In the meantime Google and Uber are running a few dozen cars. These fleet learning...

I was driving yesterday with autopilot at about 80 MPH approaching stopped traffic (separation setting 7). Why AP 2.0 Won't Be Here Soon, and It Won't Be What You Think It Is

When I bought my Model S new I was looking at used ones. I almost bought a used one but it didn't have autopilot so I bought new. I think deprecation will accelerate as the new technology gets added. But different people have different needs... But if you're waiting for a model 3 but just...

Why AP 2.0 Won't Be Here Soon, and It Won't Be What You Think It Is

I bought my Model S in July of last year and I made a mistake. What I realize now is that as these cars are evolving so quickly it doesn't make sense to buy them anymore if you're like me and want to have the latest and greatest. I encourage anyone who's waiting on AP 2.0 to just go ahead and...

Poll: Guess 70 mph Steady State Range of Model 3 Vs Bolt

As a Model S owner I've never one come close to using up my 90% 240 mile range in my daily driving. So if the range is 215 or 250 miles it's NOT going to make any difference unless you have some crazy driving habits. Which in that case I suggest an electric car is not right for you. I'm not...

Poll: Guess 70 mph Steady State Range of Model 3 Vs Bolt

I feel like everyone is making a big deal about the range where it really doesn't matter much once you pass 200+ miles. As all Tesla owners know you wake up each morning to a near full charge so if the range is 200, 250 or 300 it doesn't really matter unless you go on a road trip. So the real...

Get an EV to hold me over until M3 arrives?

I have a Volt and a Model S. Range anxiety is REAL when you have < 100 mile rated range. The Volt gets about 40-50 miles electric in the summer and 25-30 in the winter. Get the Volt and you won't regret it.
